- Here, I complete a Major Test of Strength with a challenging twist. The rules are simple: No getting hit, no buffs, and fight using the most unconventional methods possible.
I think it turned out quite well.

Shield surfing over the guardians head is the biggest power move I've ever seen in this game.
I'm pretty sure you can actually damage an enemy by landing a shield surf on its head.
He actually legit front flipped over the guardian, that shield never touched his feet
Draven Ocklost that was a shield surf. The reason why it didnt land is because he unequipped it mid flip. The other times he went over the guardian was spinning and link did the backflip maneuver.

What sounds like victory music for Link, is actually Game Over music for Guardian.
What I mean is: Guardian hears the Game Over music when defeated.
I mean, some guardians were probably made in kakariko in the ancient times, so they did learn how to fight in kakariko?

Just the idea of BOTW multiplayer sounds like it would be crazy fun.
One half of this is made of things I never even thought to do, the other half is shit I thought was literally impossible.

My favorite trick is to run up to a spear-wielding monster unarmed, then perfect block their strike (perfect block makes monsters drop spears, but not other weapons) and pick up the spear and kill them with it

i did a lot of these for shits and giggles when i started getting good at shield parrying and just messed with the tests of strength in every way possible. i think the only one i didn't do was the blue chu jelly thing

Yeah, I often forget that actual logic applies most of the time. I keep thinking, “Oh, it wouldn’t work like that, not in a video game” and them BAM
TBH i knew most of this doing a blind play thru on master mode made me learn tons of stuff the combat in BOTW is very simple with systems that u can combine and spent most of the 1st part of the game launching bokublins in any body of water i could find as at the start u lack decent weapons to deafeat a foe and they can basically 1 shot u every time
perfect example of how this game totally rewards creative and skilled players

reminds me of an interesting combo i saw in a different video: attach a small balloon to a bomb, then use that silly leaf weapon to blow it toward the enemy base...
The biggest flex of all here is that you went into this with a quarter of a heart.

I don't think you can parry Guardians' beams with just any shield; IIRC it has to be an ancient one or it breaks after a single hit.

@@scottwpilgrim Hero of Wilds does seem to have some level of time manipulation with flurry rushes and the bullet time in mid air thing, but he doesnt do full blown time travel like the Hero of Time does. I'm just talking actual physical strength lol

@@moss_on_a_tree also some armor needs certain types of chuchu jellies. I just farm the blue chuchus and then place the blue jelly near a fire to turn it into red jelly. Same with the ice jelly.

Me, a guy who recently got switch and loved botw: "Hey I just finished botw, gosh Ganon sure was hard!"

The first time I fought Ganon I was soooo over prepared I had 30 hearts (using essence duping) I had armor that gave me 88 defense points, cooked a bunch of food, I practiced glitches that would help me in combat like thunderclap rush, went on a guardian killing spree for parts, mastered parrying and flurry rushes, and after allllll of that I was like "Why is Ganon so easy?"

You can parry literally everything. The explosion attack that a lynel does, yep, parryable. I’ve done it before. The only thing you can’t parry are those rocks that come out of no where near cliffs
Actually, you can't because the laser gets faster and faster to the point where the endlag of the parry makes it so that you won't be able to parry the next laser in time.
@@gavonyx no you cant parry waterblights and vah ruta's ice blocks but you can stasis them and hit them back for some stupid damage
i learnt so many new things. flurry rushing the spin attack, early arrow, dropping the chuchu jelly, deflecting the spinning laser. this dude is a badass

The clacking sound of the robot, even the sound of link browsing and changing arsenal really complements the music..oddly satisfying. Plus at 0:57 they changed their weapon at the same time.
God damn, the most mind blowing thing to me was also the simplest. Thought you were going to magnesis that metal block but you electrocuted the guardian with it... genius.
This video is both uncomfortable and brilliant. I love it.
i had to watch this several times to appreciate some of the tricks:
right at the beginning he fires an ice arrow at the spot it will appear BEFORE it spawns, so it gets hit as soon as the battle begins.
then he shoots an electric arrow at a metal plate on the floor, MAGNETIZING it so the enemy gets pulled onto it.
then he drops "white chuchu jelly" on the floor to freeze it.
i've NEVER seen ANY of those tricks before.
This has to be the most badass and advanced combat I have ever seen someone do in BOTW
Look up "Overkill" by Kleric on RUclips. It's a beautiful masterpiece that makes this look like basic combat.

This is actually what makes this game so freaking great. No matter what type of player you are this game will work for you.
If you are the one that just uses well timed dodges to kill stuff that will work. If you are the type of player that will use your head to kill stuff that will also work.

You opened up my eyes to all of the different ways to fight enemies in this game. Never before seen someone use an ice chucu in a fight
After several shrines of paragliding up and attempting to drop attack them from the sky, watching him go up into a slo mo Bow Shot made me realize I've been doing it all wrong! Brilliant Video even more than a year later
That slow-mo bow shot trick is actually called "bullet time" it's used to shoot multiple enemies with the bow while you are falling. The slow mo effect helps you shoot more enemies because you fall slower, so you have enough time to shoot them. Just a little fact that i just wanted to say after seeing your comment.
Nothing of this compares to him FUCKING PARRYING THE ROTATING LASER 3 TIMES IN A ROW
All my weapons broke(I came unprepared) and I fought minor test from like 1300 hp using only remote bombs

I accidentally did a major shrine that was on an island near a cliff
I quickly ran out of arrows and weapons when the Miniguardian was at half health.
I had to finish the fight with remote bombs. Dodging was easy, but it just took me half an hour to beat it.
I like how you abused the stupidity of it and walked away from its explosion like a badass.
What is the monk thinking while watching all of this?

I feel like this level of combat freedom, due in large part to the "effect area" physics system Nintendo came up with for this game, doesnt get enough credit. Are there other open world games that play like this?

It took me forever to realize that he was initiating shield surfing to do that flip only to disengage before he landed to flex.
