Have you ever played any of the popular mmos like WoW or FFXIV? That is the kind of PvE content that BDO is missing, any kind of team effort stuff that isn't mindlessly killing same weak monsters again and again.
I have played BDO a long time and I am well aware what it has to offer, and I am not saying it is a bad game, just that it is missing what most mmo players want and is focused around what most mmo players hate (mindless grind).

I play bdo since 2017 with larger or smaller breaks. I think it is a fantastic game. One thing ppl say its true its missing a group /dungeon content but... bdo seems like a game suitable also for older generation. People at the age of 35/40/50 who have kids... work... can be interupted by every moment... so bdo since mostly you grind solo... is perfect for them because you can stop at any moment. And there is lots of content where you do other things than killing mobs so again.. you can just stop at any moment. Game also does not put any pressure on you to contantly get higher grade weapons and armor... just to be on the same level with others.. you can basically play at your own pace and thats it! You will not miss out anything :)

I went through 2 characters on BDO on PC and console. Genuinely, I enjoyed the game. My biggest issue and why I stopped playing was not only the forever grind but it genuinely felt like a pointless grind, what I mean by that is you finally upgrade your gear and get more powerful just to continue doing the same thing you've been doing. I've gotten both my characters to a respectable place, and a hard plateaued both times with them just feeling like "why am I trying to get more powerful? What's the point?" It just wants you to enjoy doing that but I would like there to be more of a reason if your not interested in PVP. I miss it, just can't go through it again

you dont seem to realize that the answer you seek lies within yourself.. thats how it is for any MMORPG. You can even say that WoW is a Pointless grind or any other mmorpg is however as soon as you do, you may LOSE all your ambitions, all your motivation, all drive in a game and all the Fun you once had only by saying/thinking that everything is pointless. it doesnt matter what MMO you get into you will find yourself at the exact same spot sooner or later. I say this dont remove any game from your playlist just set them on a timehold and take a break from them and move on to the next and play the games like BDO whenever you get your curiosity levels so high you have to try it for some reason.
The only ONEs who can kill the fun in a game is Ourselves.. I havent played BDO for maybe 3-4 months and have i gotten tired of BDO? I have no static or straight answer to give because every MMORPG has their ups and downs, I will always love BDO. What makes BDO fun to play for me is the Combat experience.. I dont care about FOMO, I dont care about the P2W in BDO because to me that is not "True P2W", True P2W is when you can directly increase Combat DMG through spending Money to up+ your stats with 1 single button click. Spending money on Crons to enhance your Gear well you dont increase your chances of succeeding an enhancement by spending more money, RNG Punish both F2P and P2W. P2W have no "clear" advantage over F2P in BDO except for cosmetics. Pets might be seen as P2W i can understand that being the case back in the old days of BDO but not in BDO's current state. Yes I have played BDO since Beta and its a game that i have enjoyed as much as any other MMORPG with similar Combat like Tera Online or Blade&Soul, etc..
Grinding mobs or lifeskilling is very repetitive gameplay in BDO yes, but so is every MMORPG wether you PvP, PvE or do some form of gathering, Running through the same dungeons/instances/raids over and over until you get the loot you desire, working your way through every single mechanic.
I wish you a great gaming experience and have a really great DAY! WEEK! MONTH! YEAR! FUTURE! I wish you the best!😇

15,000 + hours here. I'll make this easy for you. BDO has a FANTASTIC combat system. But it suffers from massive desync and a high skill ceiling- It takes awhile to learn. The best thing about bdo is how most of the grinding and rng can involve not a single other player. This is a massive con depending on what game you're coming from. There is generally not reason to ever interact with out players outside of pvp. - Aka if you're coming from ff14, for example, you will find yourself lacking a huge social aspect of mmos here. The game is not built for dungeons, raids, and etc. The world bosses aren't too interesting, mobs are braindead. If you want high skill, fast, and exciting people play bdo. If you want a social mmo (like mmo's should be imo) you'll play for a month, then likely quit.

The lifeskilling like gathering and farming I didn't mind though, I used to enjoy that 3 years ago. But everyone else made WAY more by just grinding and it felt unbalanced compared to lifeskilling... They all dropped so quickly and their attacks are easy to dodge. I was hoping to have someone fight back. The sandbox idea isn't horrible, but i think the issue games have with sandboxes has got to be the limited rewards for grinding lifestyle fields. Like, i get it this meal can give me a temp boost, but i'm already curbing everything i face without it. So why put in the effort to get these great boosters that aren't actually influencing my gameplay?

Started BDO last week for the first time, I'm currently in Heidel, so very early game. I think you should have the mindset of playing a singleplayer offline game during the mainstory as you learn the game mechanics. And not to worry about all of the systems you can use 'cause it's overwhelming, you don't even need to touch them to progress in the beginning.
What I think is very positive is the voice acting, it's up there with Witcher 3 and cyberpunk 2077. The animations is good and bad, like the mouths barely moves but the body language is great. The world is very beautiful and diverse. It's well paced. Main mission is "here is a good story then defeat the boss" then they use "fetch quests" to tell you the locations off important vendors or how to use systems bit by bit. So the story doesn't suffer for doing any menial quests, yet. Combat is fun even if I'm bad at it, button smashing is the my way of doing things so far.
The negative is mostly the overwhelming feeling of all the systems and the UI. Even if you don't need to use everything it's still there. I bet you get used to most of it and you can customize almost everything with the UI but I don't know how I want it customized. At least I could make the UI bigger size, could barely read the text at first.
Music is very good to. Overall it's been fun and I feel like I can play at my own pace. As a new player I feel like I'm getting a boost and the help I need from the catch-up systems. So the quality of life changes are working I'll say.

the thing about P2W in BDO is that as you said you can theoretically pay money to speed up your progression, but at a certain point you will hit a ceiling of how much you can actually boost your gear with it.
for a normal P2Wer, that doesn't literally throw tens of thousands of dollars into the game, you wont even reach 700gs, which by today's standards isnt't even remotely close in power to what you need for actual endgame PvP.
Couple that with the fact that a ton of PvP content nowadays is capped, so gear doesn't really matter, and that even if someone would reach like 730gs by paying real money they would have no clue how to actually PvP and the "apparent" issue of P2W is completely negligible.

It became a Steam thing, lost my account and all its many hours of gears/characters along with it. Now, I'd have to pay for it? and start over...That was the icing on the cake for me.
Now Steam has come out with a few noteworthy games since, but nothing really keeps me grounded in them.

As far as P2W, it technically is but reality it isn't. It would be the same as saying that a golfer who plays once a week and has a $20K set of clubs is P2W versus a golfer who plays every day with a $1000 set of clubs. Does it mean that the guy with the $20K set of clubs will win against the guy with the $1K set of clubs? No, it means that he will lose by a few less strokes if the guy playing every day is practice and skilled. There are a lot of "Trust Fund Kids" that come to the game, whale, get blown up, and then leave.

Not to mention I have spend tons of real money for outfit but at the end I stop playing it at all because I am too busy and the grinding is not life friendly. Ive played this game on and off for some years. And the only thing that i see that absolutely holds the game back is that grinding is the only way to progress pretty much. While the combat is the absolute best to ever do it. Just the simple fact i have to literally go in circles for thousands of hours killing mobs is just awfully boring. This is by far the best combat in any mmo but its sad how they choose to utilize it. Everything else in the game is totally fine. Only thing that makes people quit is how boring the grind is. If there was other means to progress the game would be perfect and most likely have the biggest player base of any mmo ever created. With so much exciting combat and pvp, the game at its core is just boring. Thats why most people quit. Imagine ur fresh out season 540 gs trying to reach 680-700 so u can atleast be viable. So u just grind mobs for about 40 hours to hit 600. Then u realize ur still too weak to do pvp (which is arguably the most fun thing in the game) so u literally just have to go in circles for like 100-200+ hours (most likely alot longer like 1000+ because u wont be so lucky when it comes to rng) to just hit 680-700 gs. Thats just incredible boring to go through just to only be able to do meaningful pvp 1-3 times a week. Theres other pvp but its kind of meaningless and gets boring after an hour or two. And I’ve talked to people that are 700+ and they always tell me i dont know why i chose to grind so long. Most of them dont even know why they kept playing the game. They tell me id have a better time just reaching 620-640 and only doing capped pvp because pushing further is just a dreadful experience of circle grinding boredom. Thats my ONLY issue with the game.
Its also worth mentioning most players/guilds that do have gear still play capped nodewars anyway( except the strongest guilds) so it may not even be worth to go higher than tier 3 cap requirements.

Absolutely correct. I logged on occasionally just to lifeskill and wish they would put more effort into other aspect of the game not just grinding. I always think about trying BDO as a old GW2 veteran, but then i hear about no PvE endgame except grinding... I mean GW2 already has issues with not releasing a lot of Raids. Having nothing and just grinding mobs? that sounds horrible, but i guess to each their own. Like, grinding is fine... but only grind? never be done?
The random chance upgrades sounds a lot like Lost Ark to me. When i reached a 5% chance to hone my gear, i dropped the game. So not looking good for BDO for me.
The game overall looks so cool and the combat looks so extremely good... but those mentioned things are just dealbreakers for me.

biggest flaw of BDO is that you have to destroy your graphics in order to play large scale PvP, or even normal pvp, thats what killed my enjoyment. It crazy how dev make the game more easy and convenient compare to what it initially started with when you grind 1-2 weeks just to hit lv 56 for class acesion and 2 months for lv 60. Personally I enjoyed every single sadist moment BDO gave me praying to RNGesus for TET to 1 weeks grind non stop back to all PRI gears xD.

I’ll save you 18:35. The game doesn’t have traditional dungeons, and questing is absolutely not intuitive. There are hundreds of quests that will literally reward you with nothing. Enhancing the items you need is AIDS because the items basically never drop and when you finally can upgrade you are betting on like a 4.7% chance to get the upgrade. If the upgrade fails then you lose the level you were at. There’s no real dungeons and pvp is about as bad as you can imagine where there’s people who have the items they need to play and then there’s the rest of us still BETTING on an upgrade.

In a month, that's 35 bil a month or so. You can buy enough gear to move on. Eventually, it slows down, but not till the 680 to 690 gs. You get two rings free, that's 80 bil. A tet blackstar and a pen blackstar. Two free pen armors. Buying your last armors can be done in a month and be on your way to buy accessories. Naturally, making 800 mil just requires mild class familiarity. And I am not counting the insane free shit they hand out like the 6 costumes and what not.

there is also guild arena's where u can GvG 10v10.
There are nodewards with capped gear all the way to uncapped gear.
      There are sieges.
There is openworld pvp, but its heavily punished nowadays.
      ect.

Like the aestethics of this game, but can`t really get into an mmo. Crimson desert looks amazing tho.

Thats why i stopped playing actually. When you get stronger you get to be able to grind at a harder grindspot and goes on and on like that and the lonely grind apparently never ends. When i noticed that i stopped playing immediately.

After spending around 20hrs into the game, all I have to say about this game are: gameplay is shallow, have no clue what am I doing, too much texts, UI is very overwhelming.
If you like hot chicks and grinding, well then it's a game for you. Graphics look cool but keep in mind that the world feels very empty and unlively. That's my thought after I experienced this game

Grind aside, the rotation of just killing mobs is so repetitive and seems to pose no real challenge once you are at the right level, making everything seem meaningless and boring. I love the nodes and life skills and that is a sandbox MMO that makes you live your character's life there but the game lacks any fun combat (not one-shotting mobs)
