The video is from the third and the audio is from the second therefor it looks like it is playback , but they played all three shows live. Back then this was a very common way to make up for a bad recording, where maybe some instrument had been left out .

i see what you mean but like a few people have said its a delay effect. if you watch his lips he is singing out of time to the sound you hear. this is due to the delay and so you keep hearing his voice after he has finished singing it
I think his voice was already strained. He could do the normal part of the song well but when he had to go to his head voice that was pre-recorded. His voice sounded tired during the whole song but the screaming part was perfect, too perfect.
at 4:55 when jon takes away the mic but you stil hear him.. thats some sort of echo they played.. its not playback. just some technical thing.. and its not richie, that is jon all the time :D how he used to sound, yeah!
So I 've seen so many comments like "back then when Jon could sing cause after the '80s he couldn't" and other crap like this and I have to say the fact that jon couldn't hit the high notes he used to hit doesn't mean that he couldn't sing!!
