    What is the difference between CGI and VISCA over IP? Is it possible that a PTZ camera does support VISCA over IP, but doesn't support CGI? What are the limitations in that case?

    • @StreamGeeks
      @StreamGeeks 5 лет назад

      Jan Westen - that’s a great question. It’s a little more technical than we can answer on RUclips but all PTZOptics cameras support visca over IP. There was a time when the PTZOptics only offered HTTP and CGI commands over IP. So it’s a separate command list essentially

      @@StreamGeeks OK, so when a camera has VISCA over IP you can control it by VISCA commands added to the camera IP address? You don't need CGI for that?

    • @PTZOptics
      @PTZOptics  5 лет назад

      Jan Westen - visca over IP is a set of commands by Sony for their visca standard sent over IP. CGI is another set which for our cameras can be used in many ways for example for HTTP

    So, you actually have to have the docks you want to use open in browser windows to be able to use them in OBS?

    • @StreamGeeks
      @StreamGeeks 5 лет назад

      Daniel Wright - in a way yes. You need the URL and then you input it into OBS. Then you can drop the browser into the interface

    Is there any difference in the way the browser dock connects to the camera and the ptzoptics obs plugin connects? I can recall presets and control the camera using the ptzoptics obs plugin but the browser dock doesn't work. Using unbranded 20x SDI PTZ 1080p

    I have installed and done the full setup as described in the video, however, the controllers will not operate the cameras. Will this plug-in only work on Optics cameras or all ip cameras?

    • @PaulRichards87
      @PaulRichards87 3 года назад

      It will only work with PTZOptics cameras if you are having trouble with a PTZOptics camera try opening and closing OBS the first time

    Will this work with any PTZ camera with visca protocol? Or it's only for PTZ optics

      The OBS Custom Broser Docks for PTZOptics Cameras are designed to work with our cameras. 😊

    Even using the different html files for two cameras to create the docks, when I close and reopen OBS the IP addresses are getting changed, and both docks end up controlling the same camera. When I update the IP address (they are both static) to the correct camera it works fine, but reverts every time I open OBS.

      Same thing happened to me and solved by editing the html and json codes to specify and fix the IP on the variable so it will not change anymore and works right when you open the docks

      Hello!
      The issue you're encountering with OBS Custom Browser Docks for PTZOptics cameras, where the IP addresses revert or change upon reopening OBS, seems to be related to how OBS is saving (or not saving) the specific settings for each dock.
      Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
      Check OBS Version:
      Ensure you're using the latest version of OBS. Sometimes, bugs related to settings or features are fixed in newer versions.
      Correct HTML File Configuration:
      Double-check that the HTML files for your browser docks are correctly configured with the right IP addresses for each camera. It’s important that each dock points to a unique HTML file corresponding to the correct camera.
      Saving OBS Workspace:
      After setting up your custom browser docks with the correct IP addresses, try saving your OBS workspace or scene collection. This can sometimes help in retaining custom settings.
      Go to 'Scene Collection' > 'Save As' to save your current setup. This will create a new scene collection that includes your dock settings.
      Persistent Data in Browser Source:
      Check if there are any settings in the HTML files or the OBS browser source that might be causing the IP addresses to reset. The browser source in OBS can sometimes cache data, leading to such issues.
      Scripting or Advanced Configuration:
      If you are comfortable with scripting, you can explore using OBS scripts to set and save these configurations. OBS supports Lua and Python scripts, which can be used to automate or retain specific settings.
      Use Different Profiles in OBS:
      Try creating different profiles in OBS, one for each camera setup. Profiles in OBS save settings and can be used to switch between different configurations quickly.
      Manual Confirmation:
      As a workaround, manually confirm and adjust the IP addresses each time you start OBS, though this is not ideal for long-term use.
      OBS Support and Forums:
      If the issue persists, consider reaching out to the OBS community or support forums. It's possible others have encountered similar issues and may have solutions.
      Check for Conflicts with Other OBS Plugins:
      If you have other plugins or extensions installed in OBS, there might be a conflict. Try disabling other plugins temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.
      Alternative Control Methods:
      If the issue cannot be resolved, consider alternative methods for controlling your PTZOptics cameras, such as using the PTZOptics camera control app, IP joystick, or any other compatible software.
      Remember, custom browser docks in OBS are a powerful feature, but they can sometimes have quirks that require a bit of troubleshooting to get right. If none of these steps resolve the issue, keeping detailed notes about your setup and reaching out to OBS support with specific information might be necessary.

    After I install the plug-in and set up the camera scenes, will I have to have chrome open for the plug-in to work? Or once it is set it’s all good to go?

      Once is set as dockable in OBS, you do not need to open any web browser window anymore
