Very hard to listen to this. Treating women and their bodies as objects, mysogyny, astounding ignorance, where should I start? And these horrors are even taught to hundreds of millions on a daily basis.

My best friend is a Muslim (non-Islamic country). I have found by knowing her and her husband that Muslim men do not care how much burden a woman has when it comes to what the husband expects. Her husband expects her to keep the house up perfectly, wait on him excessively, cook, and keep a full time job. He won’t even get himself a bottle of water from the kitchen if he’s asked for it and she’s told him to wait just a minute because she may be doing housework or be working. He will get up to go to the bathroom and sit back down and call for her again to say, “hey, how about that water”. So, she has to stop what she’s doing and get the bottle of water for him. She tries to work and he’s constantly asking for something to eat. So, she may be between trying to work and making phone calls, and she will have to stop to prepare him something to eat, and because he will not tolerate the kitchen being a mess; even through she just made it messy by cooking his meal, she can’t get back to work, because she has to clean it. A few days ago he yelled at her and said, “you haven’t cooked me anything or done any cleaning this morning, all you’ve done is work!” 😮WTF! She cannot have dishes in the sink, or dirty laundry in the hamper. When he goes to do something and needs either equipment or clothes, he expects her to get it prepared for him. He will go through and check to see if she’s done what he expects and if something isn’t his way, he will throw everything in the middle of the floor and tell her if she doesn’t do it and keep it up, to get the F out. She is so stressed out from him and caught up in that cycle, that she just thinks that’s normal for them and she has to comply to keep him. He doesn’t care how much stress she has to go through, he expects to be cooked and cleaned for and waited on and to work her job. He doesn’t care how she does it, he just expects it all to be done. It’s very abusive. But that’s what he thinks and expects of a woman.
I see this exact dynamic play out with my religious muslim parents.
If she lives in a non-Islamic country, then she can record his abuse overtime, then get that divorce. If she doesn't, then this is what she wants, and she's being your emotional vampire, and you can't save her. Don't let her drag you down with her.

The hymen doesn't even indicate virginity, that preacher isn't aware of how hymens work and how varied they are, but to be fair, many people wrongly associate the hymen 1:1 with virginity.
Life itself can have an effect on the hymen, for example, when riding a horse, exercising in a gym, or using tampons. Also, the hymen can be different in each woman, some are thinner and more fragile, some are quite thick, etc. A non intact hymen does not always indicate a lack of virginity.

This is how God made women and how after birth works. You are not down to your prebirth weight for some time. And after breast feeding your boobs change again and when menopause hits, all hell breaks lose as arousal is basically gone, extra bloodflow down there not existant and extra moisture not provided any longer. This is the wife you should love and take care of. Work around it! Woman these days are not dead by the age of 45!

This is so sad. The most beautiful gift for a man and woman is having a child. It's the icing on the cake. Be grateful for that. And of course making love is no longer the same as before birth. In fact, a baby has passed through the birth canal.
In addition, the woman experiences some discomfort after childbirth and her body needs many months to recover. And then we also have the sleepless nights (due to a crying baby and night feeding). Respect from her husband is appropriate here and not complaining about bad sex.

A husband who is pulling his weight after a baby will be too exhausted to ask for nookie. My husband's libido and mine returned around the same time, as we started getting enough sleep and weren't stressed out. Also, for a regular person without sex addictions or a god complex, waiting until your partner is ready is not a big deal.

Yep, I was given one by a female obgyn without either mine or my husband's knowledge or consent. Relations were awful afterwards and didn't improve until I had our second child 2 years later. I had a minor tear and insisted on not being stitched afterwards. Both me and husband felt an immediate difference. I share to point out to men that they shouldn't joke about this - the 'husband stitch' does no favours for men either. It's not enjoyable.

Coming from a woman who has given birth multiple times. It's a misconception that after a woman gives birth she becomes loose. First, after giving birth naturally you must wait at least 5-6 weeks before you can start intercourse to let your body heal naturally, that is according to the doctor. You can do other things, but waiting to properly heal will be the best for everyone involved. Having a husband stich or not doesn't makes a difference because the vagina is a tubular muscle and the opening got nothing to do whether it is tight or not. Actually after giving birth with all the contraction before, during and after birth the vaginal muscles becomes more stronger, and for personal experienced, I feel that i am able to target and control my muscles more than ever. So him saying that it's loose is just probably a placebo effect, because his thinking that the vagina is not able to strink back to it's original size. But hormonal changes due childbirth, injury or age can make the vaginal wall/lining dry or not produce enough lubrication, so might result in less tightness. Husband stitch can make it look like the opening is small, but it doesn't mean that the muscle is tight, but if esthetics is that important then go ahead and get it done if you want; but it a type of surgery so no matter how minor it maybe ther is a chance for infection and longer healing time

You are wrong about the husband stitch. It isn’t the vagina, it’s literally the opening that they stitch up, think female genital mutilation. It’s not the actual vaginal walls it’s the exterior. It is extremely painful for many women.
How do you think the penis will fit comfortably if the opening is smaller?? It’s not about the actual muscle of the vagina. It’s narrowing the opening.

@@Faceon6790I can recommend a book…. “ It’s All About Muhammed” by FW Burleigh. It’s an unbiased biography of Muhammed. It’s an easy and fascinating read. I promise you will be shocked when you read it, seeing what kinds of things Muhammed did and said!
She will know how important Muhammed is to Muslims, how they are taught to obey Muhammed without question and to copy what he did. So she will understand how important it is to understand what exactly Muhammed said and what he did.
This book used the same texts Muslims use to understand Muhammed’s life.
So this book recounts the events of Muhammed’s life, the good , bad and the ugly parts. There’s a bibliography if she wants to read more.
Maybe if she sees how Muhammed treated women, it might make a difference.
I think too many western women see Islam and Muslim men as exotic, and just so different from what they have been raised with. I think the “cure” for that is to expose all the negative aspects of Islam , especially the parts that will have an impact on a woman in a marriage with a Muslim man…..the beating of wives, sexual purity , men’s control over women’s sexuality and movements , and custody of children ……..especially custody of children if they move to a muslim country ………And she will be expected to behave and dress in a particular way, if they move to a Muslim country.
She will be entirely on her own, ( no constitutional,rights, tyenon,y rights she will have are those granted to her by Islam . And those are few and not nearly what so,en have in Ameeica or Western countries. )
The legal system is very different, favors Muslims over non Muslims ( so if she hasn’t converted that may be an issue) and she will be expected to dress and behave in a particular way that will be very different to what she is used to in the West….
and there’s the possibility of her husband either already being married to a Muslim woman in his home country, or marrying more women after he moves the western woman to his home country…… she may nkt be an,ex to leave if her husband and his family don’t want her to , and if the husband takes her passport ) and the divorce laws are very different , not nearly as easy for a woman to divorce a man in Islamic countries. And this may vary depending on which Islamic country her muslim husband is from. . Saudi Arabia is different from Afghanistan or Pakistan.
She itbtotally dependant on her husband. And he may change dramatically from the person he is in a western country, where Islamic law is not the norm , and what he is like in his home Islamic country where everyone must obey sharia law.
There’s another book “ The Reliance of the Traveler “ which outlines Islamic law. I got my copy off Amazon. Actually seeing in print , what Islamic law is, and how that would apply to a person moving to an Islamic country , may be the shock she needs.
The other book “ It’s All About Muhammed” is also available on Amazon.
Dont give up on her. Keep chipping away at her , and give her the knowledge she needs to make a good informed decision wirh these books. Tell her you aren’t trying to persuade her of anything, that you just want her to make an informed decision and to do that, she needs knowledge.
Another possibility is to look for videos , articles, and posts by female ex Muslims….. and send them to her…… so she can see what the life is like, what Muslim men expect .

Just had an experience with a Shia muslim man from the Middle East background. He said he's religious, but when it comes to women, he prefers to be with a virgin, even if it means a non-muslim woman, rather than an experienced muslim woman who wants to be a better muslim. As someone born and raised Muslim who doesn’t practice anymore, I see these issues in bedded in the culture of the religion.
However, as a therapist who works with women around reproductive health and fertility issues, this issue exists across the spectrum of faith practices and cultures.
I’ve worked with women from every walk of life who face these issues with their husbands, including men who have no faith practices.
Women, particularly women postpartum, can be extremely dehumanized by men and society at large.
That being said, purity cultures are intense and amplify these issues, no doubt.

Not Muslim but I have such very fond memories of my stepfather and I was older when my parents got married and my biological father was still in the picture but my mom married wonderful, sweet, loving supportive. You know it’s crazy. He’s been dead about seven years and I still call his voicemail to hear his voice, and I think it’s really sad that men might be reluctant to marry somebody with children because having a step can be real blessing there’s another adult who cares deeply about you your whole life I think a lot of stepparents are vilified but the truth is it’s a hard job that lots of people actually do really really well.

When I was growing up, my mother told my sister and I that we could marry anyone we wanted EXCEPT a Muslim man. In fact, we couldn’t even bring home a non-religious man from a Muslim family on the off chance that he would become religious later on. She had lived in Turkey for a couple of years as a teenager and came to the conclusion that the majority of Muslim men see women as objects and property. Theres an interesting video on RUclips about short term marriages, I think in Afghanistan(?) Basically the man goes to an imam and tells him hes horny so the imam suggests a 24 hour marriage but not to tell the woman or she won't agree. Then they trick a woman into thinking shes found a husband when in reality shes married to him so he can get his rocks off then go back home and she never sees him again and she is regarded as spoiled goods. It's not a widespread thing but there are imams who will do it for money without any hesitation.

This is a huge problem with all men from all backgrounds and their expectations of sex in their lives, they lack of thought about how their babies actually come into this world and also I believe actually the lack of love and appreciation for their children. I believe Mennie dads take them for granted and never think about what it takes to bring that child into the world and the sacrifice and burden that women have from their very first period, to bring a child into the world. If father truly thought of their children as the most precious important priceless things in their lives then they’re going to automatically think the same of the woman that spent 30 years of body preparation through menstruation and all the things that go with upkeep of our reproductive systems before a pregnancy ever even occurs. As a midwife and a mom of 6 this infuriates me!! Our bodies produce different hormones including some that relax our pelvic muscles to allow child birth to even be possible! It takes up to a year or more after giving birth for our bodies to heal and recover from childbirth. A common misconception is that women get "loose" it's not even a remote possibility!

I reverted to Islam from Christianity in my 40s and to be honest I found Muslim women that I courted just as sexual if not more so than non Muslims whether they wore hijab or not. The main difference is non Muslims are more open regarding sex than Muslims because of the shame they are subjected to.
