So here's a treat, Eddie Kendricks 'Keep on Truckin', love this song. This was the 'radio edit' I guess (3:30 min), but it is the one I bought as a single in the 70's in the UK, so I am used to the mix - ruclips.net/video/UjKwmlH0EJE/видео.htmlsi=xpLowo74MgXR2ndl There is an 8 minute version.

Yes, Yes, you got it. This should be playing on every station everywhere. It's like it was made for here and now and it was also made for here and now back in the 1970's. This country doesn't learn. This is the best song ever made and I could listen to only this song forever.

This was recorded at a time when the whole world was in chos, not unlike today. Race riots, Vietnam war, the Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. assassinations, the drug culture was going in full steam etc. It was an insane and scary time, but the music of the era was incredible. I know, because I was 13 years old and remember watching all of the war news, and riots on tv every single night at dinner time. Bloody footage of police and the Black communities across the country, and the ugly video of soldiers dead and injured as well. It was a lot for our country to handle.
    God Bless everyone.

Those Low notes are Melvin Franklin, the high notes are Eddie Kendricks.... The Temptations then consisted of Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, and David Ruffin; the success that followed the group resulted in what would, in later years, be frequently referred to as the "Classic Five" lineup.

Rock music is basically built on African-American musical forms, but white-dominated rock music influenced black music in turn. This song is clearly influenced by rock production and the new willingness of rock music in the 60s to serve as a vehicle for social criticism. Because Hip Hop samples so freely from the rock era, these boundaries of "white" and "black" music have broken down even more since then.

The song came out around 1970 or so. The politicians have been spewing the same psychobabble for decades upon decades that’s why every time some politician gets up there and talks about. If you just give me more tax money I’ll cool the earths temperature for you or will fix the ghettos and everything else I just roll my eyes , I’ve heard it for decades and decades and decades. Probably my favorite temptations song.

I first heard this song when I was part of the stage crew for a talent show my junior high school was presenting way back in 1970.I was 14 at the time this was a really big hit. There were a lot of Black kids that went to Monroe,so soul music was popular there. This song was played as part of a dance routine, and the dancers were REALLY GOOD at it! Even though,as a white kid, I wasn't really into soul,I thought this was a really good song-very catchy, with very relevant lyrics for the times.I have not heard this song in 53 years-until today, when somebody happened to mention it,as to how relevant it is even today. So,I found your channel, and gave it another listen, after not having heard it--in over FIVE decades! And while I was impressed with it's relevancy way back in 1970,I was BLOWN AWAY at how STUNNINGLY RELEVANT it is TODAY! These guys REALLY hit the mark! You know,it seems a shame,at least to me,to see such TRULY TALENTED groups like the Temptations, the Supremes, the Platters, even more recent ones like Kool and the Gang, and the Commodores(both of which I really like-losing a great talent like Lionel Ritchie, this year-what a shame),have been overshadowed by the modern form of music as of late. All those I mentioned, and more, produced such GREAT music, and even though I was not necessarily a big fan of soul,I DID,and STILL DO like and listen to these artists, who were SO GOOD at what they do!
