    28% of the weld is slag inclusions, and 32% is porosity leaving 40% of the weld.

      Considering the use of 9" grinders at other shops, I'd've expected them to use one here between beads. Must be quicker and not much more expensive than spending time trying to chip and scrape out all the slag.

    Yikes! That welding is atrocious! Just burn that rod in there man. Just starts and stops, building up slag in the weld. He's welding that huge casting like its a thin body panel.

    • @johndowe7003
      @johndowe7003 Год назад +2

      They actually notch it out and do a root pass etc. It's just skipped in video. It'll hold (until it doesn't) material he's welding is probably cast steel. Hino trucks aren't made of pot metal like in America unfortunately

    • @JT-tz5hp
      @JT-tz5hp Год назад +4

      @@johndowe7003 I watched the same video as you. They V'd out the weld joint and welded it. Didn't see much skipped in the video that would make me change anything in my original comment.
      That's probably cast steel yes and that tickytack welding technique does nothing but lead to slag inclusions. I'd like to have your amazing skill to see video that doesn't exist lol.
      A cast steel part is a cast steel part. Shitty welding is shitty welding. I'm not from America and what does that have to do with this guys horrible welding?

    • @johndowe7003
      @johndowe7003 Год назад

      @@JT-tz5hp yeah I hadn't got far into the video haha. Idk that tacking technique is pretty ugly but it doesn't seem like they have slag inclusion in it, when he capped it it looks smooth and no worm holes or anything. Dunno honestly and yes it's shitty but it works 👍

      If it wouldn't last they wouldn't be in business. It looks rough but they seem to know what they're doing. 6010 will burn through all that crap. I agree the weld is shite. It'll hold though. The shape is thin enough to not need to notch it out very much

    That welding is the worst if ever seen it’s not a weld it’s just slag start and stop over and over. It has no structural integrity at all. If you have to beat the slag with a hammer your welding is crap. My kid could do better
