I admit to some bad language in recent months, as I am feeling worn down by life, lies and manipulation - this is a result of ME not relying on the Lord as I ought - so, it is my own fault. So, I'm hardly in a position to 'judge'. Yet I am chastised because, Scripture tells us EXPLICITLY, 'Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.' (Ephesians 4.29). I'm not sure how this fundamental of Christian living could be given leeway. I can only encourage Pastors to guard their mouths especially careful.

At the same point I hardly think it be a sin to stand straight up against an enemy and call it out for what it is. When addressing a heretic, though I would like to call it out in a most docile way--- I think addressing ones blasphemous talk as "bull shit" would not violate God.
Difference being it isn't an act of introduction of filth. It is an act of laying down the line in a habitat of filth.
      Does that make sense?

Mary, I wish I could give you 1000 thumbs up!!! If we followed his logic, we would all be cursing constantly due to the prevailing heresy of our culture...but that would violate Scripture and grieve the HOLY Spirit within, so we walk by the Fruit of the Spirit in self-control.

"Coarse" language is nothing compared to using the name of God in vain. People can use quite sanitary speech to still engage in filthy speech. Gossip as well is something we say that harms our neighbors.
"Feces" is Latin and "shite" is of Germanic origin. It is no different than saying pork and saying swine. Vulgar means common and the British court demanded others use the educated Latin over the every day German spoken on the streets. One isn't any cleaner than the other. It is funny to hear people preaching and praying in Elizabethan KJV English when that was the vulgar or common speech of the time.

As far as the great commission is concerned. Jesus said, go in the world and "make disciples" of all nations (Matt 28:19). An example of this is found in the book of Acts, the Apostle Paul made many disciples of Christ, but never tried to convert the nation/government. In fact, many of those cities where he shared the gospel are now depopulated ruins today. Why? Because Paul understood the lasting effect of the spread of the gospel in any one area would be temporary, eventually folks would stop listening. As for using curse words. Jesus used a serrated edge speaking at times, but I never heard Him curse at anyone. John the Baptist who called the Pharisees in his day "Vipers", did not use foul language. The only instance we see where a curse word was used by a disciple was when Peter denied he knew Christ after His arrest. Not a great time in Peter's life.

46:00 You guys should talk more like this and not so quick to blame premillennialism and other orthodox eschatologies on the church’s ills. I read Revelation one way, it’s not going to change. Regardless, no Christian should substitute a prediction of what will come to pass, at an unknown point in time, with our responsibility for our world right now. We should live as if we are responsible for many years, regardless of when the end comes. Theonomy is true from the plain moral teaching of love and justice in the Bible. These are winning messages, not insisting on a particular interpretation of Revelation or when and exactly Jesus will put His enemies under His feet.

We all have the same struggle, will we obey and listen to God's word or not? No one is saying Jeff is a false preacher or non-Christian, but there are qualifications to the role of elder & pastor. Jeff isn't an apostle or prophet, Jeff can say "sl*t" and "Bull****" isn't profanity, but the f-word is profane and he's said it. This is the same reason why Ravi went so long unnoticed, no one wanted to call him out for what he was doing because he was viewed in an unhealthy manner.

@@caedmonnoeske3931 I understand your point, I do my best to reframe from euphemisms like those. I don't say "screw", I sometimes say "dang" more as a filler word when there's nothing else to say. Without going much into it, if you get mad and say "screw you", that's terrible! It's sin due to anger and maybe you can make a point for it being possibly profane. However, your idea of "profanity" being relative, while I understand the temptation to do so, is dangerous. The Bible discuses profanity, we as humans can try to make excuses and make logical arguments, but when you're disagreeing with the Bible... it's you that's wrong, every time. Every time I see someone justify their sin, there's a larger issue than that sin. The issue isn't just that you cuss, the greater issue is that you've allowed man's arguments to overrule the Bible. This is what happens when we read the Bible through the lenses of our theology. Let the Bible shape your theology and you won't use profanity. No pastor or great man of faith has been known for profanity, there's a reason for that.

Postmill is nothing but dominionism. No scriptures back it up. The thing is what are these people going to do when their takeover of the world doesn’t work? Jesus can come back and in 1 second cast all the demons into hell that are affecting the world and there will be no evil instantly. He doesn’t need someone to set something up for Him down here, he just needs people to share the gospel. Then JD says what if Jesus comes back in 25000 years? No man knows and speculation is ridiculous. Jesus can come whenever the Father says go. The days should be lived, according to Jesus Himself, as if He could come back at any time.

Who did he curse? No one at all. We need to consider the literal meaning of the descriptive words we use. I prefer the term "sharp words".
Granted, some 4 letter words can in fact be used to curse someone, some are just not culturally acceptable, and make a good Christian blush. Then again, most things in the Bible, if actually read in their entirety would make a good Christian blush as well. Sometimes things with sharp edges are more useful to cut with than a verbal " butter knife".
On the other hand I don't think we should go around casually swinging a battle axe (especially if we aren't intending to precisely hit a specific target.)
Overall, what Durbin did was a brilliant, mature and calculated use of a sharp tool and some just can't fathom that precious 11th commandment being violated. Clearly, he hit his target. Some just don't like the fact that a good Christian can bear verbal arms.

I'm sorry Jeff, I love your sermons, all of them except for this statement. But all of this is to defend cursing. This is wrong, it's defending sin because it is a curse word no matter how we look at it. It's a major stumbling block as well. It doesn't matter what the world is pushing, we don't have the right to use their profanity to defend the Bible, it doesn't make sense.

This brought so much confusion and heartache because we loved our pastor. This pastor would encourage going out in 2020 to protest but church was closed. This is a stumbling block not a curse word. Durbin doesn’t have a habit of speaking this way. I don’t know him personally but I will say despite how immensely busy he is, he answers my questions, when I contact him and prays for my family.

I think the major problem I have with Theonomy is that under Jewish Law, the woman caught in adultery should be rightfully stoned. Yet; as Jesus convicts the hearts of the men in judgement of her, of their own wickedness, she is spared from death. Jesus never condemned the law; but only illuminated the equality in our own wretchedness. So, according to Theonomy; the adulterous woman would find death; while introspection from the reflection of Christ allowed her to find grace. How will sinful men judge sinners of sin when they are guilty of it all; per James? Unless they too become the same hypocrites the religious ruling class of that day were. Christ was perfect, and could of rightfully stoned her in his perfection; instead he chose to pass on the law of the letter for the law of love. Theonomists; either stone your daughter who is not a virgin on their wedding day; or quit the charade. If Gods law is the standard, it starts today. Not when the laws of the land agree with you. Choose this day whom you will serve; are you willing not only to kill your non-virgin, non-Christian child or wife? Or, are you just cherry picking which civil laws keep you out of jail? Get out of here with this charade. Get out of here with this Gods law is supreme. None of you believe it, or you would be living it now; regardless of the consequences; or how crazy the world calls you. In your theological framework; your life is still more important than Gods Law; for even Peter and John said "Consider it among yourselves; whom should I be obedient to? God or man?" But let me guess, its all part of the master plan? Or "discernment" Or "wisdom? If you want to see the change, be the change. None of you have picked up a stone, not a single one. You may think you are Joshua and Caleb, but instead you are the rest saying "but we are grasshoppers in their sight." And, because of your cowardice; not trusting in the God who took Israel out of Egypt; your theology will die in the wilderness. Its a whole lot of talk, a whole lot of pseudo-sophistication; but no action. The Mosaic Law was enforced by blood, by action. If America is your Promised Land, pick up your literal weapons and take it, or shut up already. Geesh.

_"I think the major problem I have with Theonomy is that under Jewish Law, the woman caught in adultery should be rightfully stoned."_
Sorry, but there are legal issues with that verdict. The Law says she isn't to be stoned alone, both guilty parties are to be stoned together. Where is the man?
_"So, according to Theonomy; the adulterous woman would find death..."_
No, the case doesn't meet the legal requirement for the death sentence. You can't commit adultery by yourself, it takes two to tango for a sin like that. That there isn't a man on trial with her indicates either that the trial is a sham. There are some indications that the men she slept with were in the crowd trying to stone her. Jesus is pointing out that the way they conducted the trial is sinful as it violates God's law.
And once the crowd dispersed, Jesus couldn't legally condemn her as at best he is just one witness.
_"Theonomists; either stone your daughter who is not a virgin on their wedding day; or quit the charade."_
That would be unlawful. Plus, that's not what the law says. In fact, marriage was one of the remedies of premarital sex. Have you actually read the Bible? You sound like you just know the stereotypes.
_"If Gods law is the standard, it starts today."_
Today? Theonomists already try to live their lives in accordance to all God has commanded. But God's law distinguishes between personal morality, sins that the church has remedy for, and civil crimes for which the state is the only remedy. Theonomists obey God's division of the law; but you want them to break God's law by taking matters into their own hands.
You should learn what the Law actually says if you want to allege inconsistencies in Theonomists.

"The hope of postmillennialism, particularly in its "Christian Reconstruction" form, is a "Jewish dream." This was the express judgment of the early Reformed creed, the Second Helvetic Confession (A.D. 1566):
We further condemn Jewish dreams that there will be a golden age on earth before the Day of judgment, and that the pious, having subdued all their godless enemies, will possess all the kingdoms of the earth. For evangelical truth in Matt. chs. 24 and 25, and Luke, ch. 18 and the apostolic teaching in II Thess., ch. 2, and II Tim., chs. 3 and 4, present something quite different
(Chap. 11, in Reformed Confessions of the 16th Century, ed. Arthur C. Cochrane, Westminster Press, 1966).
The carnal kingdom of postmillennialism, particularly as painted by "Christian Reconstruction," is exactly the kind of Messianic kingdom dreamed and desired by the Jews in the days of Christ's earthly ministry. This was what the Jews of John 6 wanted: Christ as the king of an earthly kingdom and a temporal future bright with the prospect of political power and earthly glory. The damning judgment upon postmillennialism by the Second Helvetic Confession reflected the theology of the early Reformers, Luther and Calvin, as well as Bullinger, author of the creed. More importantly, it is the stand of the confessions that bind Reformed and Presbyterian churches and Christians today."PROF. ENGLESMA - Puritan Board

Are we sure that Premil isn't what is being condemned here? That seems to be how most people interpret that section, and the idea of an earthly kingdom with Christ at its head is common in Premil and Dispy thought, but the opposite of the Postmil positions and the related Amil position.
Does Englesma think preaching the Gospel is carnal? Because Postmil's claim is that God will bless the faithful preaching of the gospel with conversion. It isn't "carnal" in the way the Bible uses that word, that is, it isn't through warfare or forced conversion or politics or anything like worldly means.
Christ is king now and his kingdom is the Church, and the weapons of warfare of the Church is the preaching of the Word. To accuse Postmil of some carnal earthly kingdom is to reveal one has no idea what Postmil teaches.
