With lumber prices the way they are today, you should have dismantled the house and used the lumber to fix up some of the other old buildings.
With all the lath and plaster in the house it makes it a little to much work. I am doing this with the barn though.
This old house has weathered storms for most of a century
A 20000 pound machine would no way bring it down at one pull
You wasted a lot of money in reclaimed lumber
We pulled down 30 X 40 X 25' tall barn with 2 35 hp tractors, Chains were attached to outside vertical corner posts at 16', no siding on barn built mortise & tenon construction with 1 1/2 dowel pins. When it finally came down after 4 pulls, could not see for all the dust from a century of hay/straw dust. Told the neighbor if you want to do any more barns in the future, call anyone but me.
Those old buildings are strong. Good work. Light the match.
Great video
Just started looking at your channel. Very interesting. Keep the videos coming. I like watching stuff like this.
Where's an EF3 tornado when you need one? Would have got that house down in a hurry. (Jan Griffiths).
That would have been nice. Might have been a little to close to my other house though.
Glad to finally see the day, here’s to a thousand more!
Dang! I was afraid that the second floor would just set down like that. Time for an excavator or just burn it.
Damn that house was built well.. If it was modern day construction you could of pulled it down with a lawn tractor and a piece of string
this is late but was it ever said why the old house had to come down?
The house has been abandoned for years. Animals got in and it was full of mold. The foundation was bad and I didn't want it there. There are other videos of walking through the house.
Cool video keep it going 😎
This used to be quite a common demolition method in the UK. Nowadays they would use an excavator, which would tear it down in a day.
cool video

Why? It was looks decent
In England you have to have a bat serva be for you can knock a house down
You were pulling in the wrong location. You gotta think about the center of mass and pressure. You were pulling the house down in the area where there was a maximum center of mass and pressure. You would have been better off gutting the entire interior possible leaving only single low bearing beams. The best area to pull on would've been either from beams toward the roof, or looping around the entire house exterior walls so long as the interior was gutted completely.
You should've rented a claw excavator to tear it down instead of causing all that toxic air pollution with that roofing and synthetic carpeting and paint burning. I'm not a green new deal guy but I couldn't in good conscience cause that air pollution. Its bad enough with all the accidental fires going on. Wood smoke is said to be twice as carcinogenic as cigarette smoke.
If you had been on solid ground you may have had better results. No traction on grass. IMHO
Well all u have done is created a dangerous place for someone to get hurt
House
You shoulder of burned it
what is the name of the other youtuber?
BurningDinosaurs
Burn it like u did the other house.
Thats the same house.
Seems to me that it would have been easier to hire someone with an excavator to dig a hole and pull it in and bury. I would have gone out on a foggy day and lit it up.
Would have been easier but not cheaper.
WHY WOUlD YOU DISTROY HISTORY!!!aarrrgggg
