    I use binders for everything. The one I am so proud about is my children's school picture binder. I only order one 8X11 picture and put it in a sleeve and next to that picture it has a paper to write down their grade, teacher name, friends, favorite book, and field trip. I guess this year will be totally different.

      I love this idea too! Yeah, this year will be weird, but also cool to look back through the binder and have your notes about the worldwide pandemic and how it affected schools!

    A good tip is to use extra wide dividers if you're going to use sheet protectors over papers. The sheet protectors are wider than traditional size dividers. :)

    I crushed the paper category during my KonMari declutter. I have a thin folder at my desk for action items, a "current year" file and a "permanent" file, THAT'S IT! I don't own a printer and I treat all paper that comes into the house as to-be-trashed once it's been addressed. It's amazing how my organizing system got so simple once I had that mind shift and look at paper as an enemy to be vanquished! I DO like the idea of the goal planner, tho. I don't think I'd do it in binder format, but I may incorporate some of the structure in my bullet journal.

      @@amybee40 I found travelers notebooks and bullet journaling around the time I found KonMari. I love this! One thing I would add is if making a binder is too time-consuming for anyone, to start with a file box system, where the categories are in hanging file folders so you can just drop the stuff in a hanging folder. Takes less time and it is a good start for those of us that have a long way to go!! You could then take it up a notch and go ahead and put it all into a binder system. That is what I am going to do to get things going. Especially this time of year when school supplies and binders should be on sale. You are such an inspiration Cass!

    • @victoriaoliver9958
      @victoriaoliver9958 4 года назад +1

      Yes! That's what I do. I have one big binder that has my to-do's and things I need to keep in order and then a pretty wooden file box on my kitchen counter with folders for coupons, receipts, bills, etc that need to be quickly dropped into. It's been working well to keep my counters clear.
      I'm sure It can be streamlined more, though. 😊

    • @wayfarinstranger2444
      @wayfarinstranger2444 4 года назад +3

      @@victoriaoliver9958 Yes, that's awesome. My goal is just to get things off counters and surfaces cleared. The quicker, the better, and more realistic for me in my lifestyle right now. I do have a binder for menu planning and cleaning, but for everyday paper clutter, I need a quick place to just drop it and go. ( I guess I would be considered a Macro organizer at this point.) I love that you have a pretty box. When things are pretty, it just makes it more enjoyable. :)

    I’m a Bee with butterfly wings - but I find that Binders just aren’t for me - I love setting them up but I abandon them after a while and end up with paperwork piles and binders! But having taken onboard all your great advice for organising for Bees and Butterflies I’ve finally figured out a system for my current paperwork that actually works for me! - Magazine Files - a ‘requires action’ one, a ‘to be filed’ one; and the rest hold colourful display books for each project, I have an Expanding Organiser for long term important docs and a stash of reporters notebooks for my endless ideas, lists and braindumps! I still get to just drop stuff in macro groups when I’m in busy/lazy/easily distracted butterfly flitting mode, but it’s detailed, pretty and visual for when I’m full Bee!!! I’m so grateful to Cass for sharing her insights. Xx

    I agree with you, childhood should be magical! Our family has a family of five Christmas elves that helps santa every year and write a letter to my youngest daughter about what has happened in the year. Like the time the baby elf snuck in to the guinea pigs and tried to ride them. Or why one sock always gets lost, daddy elf uses them as a hammock. Stories like that.

    I love this idea. I think I am going to maintain a virtual binder though. I’m afraid this will just turn into countertop cluttered for me. It’s an awesome idea to keep it all in one spot. Also, we use google calendar and sheets to help us meal plan.

    I have adopted the Happy Planner system...of sorts! I don’t use THEIR system but I DO love the size of the classic one and love to use dividers. I just use dot grid paper and make whatever sections I need. I only have TWO planners..one for most everything and one for bills, budget, receipts and such. My personality type CANNOT handle more than 2 and I still feel compelled to combine in the budget one so I can grab just the one and use it for EVERYTHING, lol! Whichever kind folks use they are ABSOLUTELY necessary to run a home properly! Thanks for all the good ideas, because I see I am still missing a section or two! XOXO

      The Chick In Charge hello, thanks for this idea, I think I will make 3 binders n divide the categories into just these 3 binders...I am a huge planner but as I'm getting older I am simplifying everything so when I go to meet my maker my grand daughter will not have a huge mess to clean up...by that I mean tons of stuff...I am a crafter n have a craft room, guest room n master bedroom, living room, dining room, office, kitchen, laundry room, 2 car garage n 2 sheds outside...so there is a ton of stuff....again, a huge Thank you🌻

      My step mom saved a cute story my step sis wrote in 2nd grade about how to cook the turkey. Every year she would take it out of the binder she kept it in (with other school papers) and hang it on the fridge. It was so embarrassing to her but it was really cute :)
