[Taste the World Cuisine in U.S.A.] - Ethiopia Episode
While this wasn’t our first time having Ethiopian food, it was our first time trying this hidden gem in Alexandria that opened just about a year ago! The two longtime friends, Daniel Solomon and Philipos Mengistu brought the successful recipes from Phillipos’ New York restaurant, Queen of Sheba to the Alexandria neighborhood. One of the unique dishes to point out is the Kategna, which is toasted injera on top of traditional fluffy injera bread. We had never seen anything like that even though we’re big Ethiopian food lovers! Absolutely in love with Makeda!

We wow-ed to the food too. Thanks for stopping by!
You know that’s kinda funny 😄 that I’m Ethiopian. By the way I like injera
We love injera too! :)
really enjoyed your gregarious nature, great review of the restaurant's food. I'm sure you've heard/read this.. use only your right hand to eat, you can take a big piece of injera and 'swoop' the food, no need to use two hands; no licking fingers. loved the way you folded the injera when sampling.. clearly not your 1st time eating this. next time, try the 'tej' drink. cheers! 🥂
Great video. New sub 😊😊
Thank you so much for the compliment! 🙏 Hope you have a chance to try Makeda's foods 😉
I'm a vegetarian and the vegetarian combo cuisines are the best foods on the planet!

Generally it is frowned up on to put both hand in the platter.you should only use one hand to eat preferable the right hand.
Gotcha. Thanks for the tips:)
Uhm i'm a left handed ethipian but didn't stop me enjoying ma injera . Doro and ketfo prepared as we speak.
@@KoreanHusbandHongKongWife also you should never lick your fingers...
it is Cooked with Berbera not with Awaza.

Thanks for stopping by our channel! :)
Yehenen video wodejewalhu
most of the stew is very thick , which is not really the popular way to do most of the dish in Ethiopia...i think most of the dishes are changed in many ways to fit the way of life there... how i wish you could have tried home made "doro wot"
Hiiiiii philipose
I am on water fast then RUclips decides to recommend best foods in the world.
That “cheese” is literally just boiled buttermilk. They westernized the katena a little bit, but overall, I would have devoured that veggie plate in seconds. Just a tip, place the injera on the sauce you want, cup your fingers around the injera then pinch and scoop it up
Thank you for the tips!! :)
Omg u make me hungry my mouse is water
Haha thanks for stopping by and sorry! :p
Are u hiring ? Please say yes😂
Yea if u want
Makida Means another name for queen sheba.
Ferom Ethiopia

You seem familiar with Ethiopian food, I don't think this is your first time.
You're right. This wasn't our first time! Ethiopian food has become one of our favorite cuisines! :)
Qatanga is a new name, the original it's name was qasi it's Oromian snack with a glass of milk or a cup of tea. But the way you did is not healthy. I like the way you serve all the food it makes me hungry it's all looks like original and delicious !!
Poopy gang kkkkk another ኬኛ?
@@kebenasefere6773 ay yiheninim beluta yenga?!! Kkkkkkk
You could just say "We call it qasi in oromegna.."
Don’t be narrow and ignorant. There are many things the 80 something ethnics share.
Yet enedebekachehu?? LoL 😆 y'all are popping up everywhere embarrassing us I am sure the same Katenga has more than 50 names at every corner of Ethiopia. What's your point?
@@nahomb2784 👌 you nailed it. Some just lack common sense.
ኧረ አበላሏ ሲያስቀና! ከፍቶልሻል እናቴ
I don’t know why this is recommended for me 🤦🏽♂️
cuz you saw same kind of videos
When you eat your suppost to use only 1 hand and the others shouldn't touch the food. You don't pick food up and put it on your injera.
It’s pronounced Ma-keh-da..not Makeeda..😊
Next time don't lick your finger. The injera is there to cover up the wott so that your finger don't get messed up.
it happens
Haha thanks for the tips. I still haven't gotten used to eating with my hand, so will try to do better next time :p
the Qategna is so oily.
You do not pick pieces by hand (that is untidy), just use the piece of injera to wrap and eat.
That is not how you make kategna
Don't use two Hand in gods sake
And that’s not how you eat it 🙄 you need to eat it without touching it with your other hand 😎
Got it. Thanks for the tips. Will work on that next time haha :)
Stop your negative bro let her eat and enjoy it u should appreciate she introducing our food bro... respect bro
That's not the way to eat ethiopian food she use two hand to eat that's totaly not ethiopian table manner.
Does she look Ethiopian 😑? Of course she doesn't know how to properly eat the food, not a lot of people do. Especially because it's not a common thing to eat with your hand(s).
Ferenge don’t know shit about our culture
Eskinder Alemayehu stop being negative. She she showed appreciation for our culture and the thing you focus on is the one thing she didn’t do right. Teyat bakish

Enjera defar hula
eat properly and do not put your fingers in your mouth
Please, somebody, show her how to use the injera properly
Someone should have taught her how to eat this kind of food.
Gross I had to throw up
It’s not only Ethiopian food it’s also Eritrean food. Instead of saying Ethiopian food, say Habeshan food 😡🙄
Sorry it's Ethiopian food
