Yo! I’m loving the C70! What do you guys think about the footage??
Love the footage, great composition, and great use of lighting in all of your shots. I have a question. I love the way the skin tones look. What are the IRE levels that you expose skin for? Are you exposing darker skin between 35 to 40 and lighter skin from 45 to 50? Whatever you're doing, keep up the excellent work. Do you have a new subscriber today?
Kenyatta.
@@canibus329 thanks so much! I really appreciate the kind words. I actually RARELY use IRE as a metric for my skin tones unless I’m in a rough situation. I typically just use my eyes to determine 🤦🏼♂️😂 probably not the best practice but it works!
Night shots on it are awesome
Hey great video! Loved the sample footage. What lens did you use?
@@hyunseoklee8611 Thanks! it was a mixture of lenses! A lot of it was shot with the Sirui 50mm Anamorphic!
This is what I want to see every time I look for a camera!!!! Footage!!! Real shots, different contexts and let the image (and the good cameraman) speak for itself. I'm bored of so many tests in the studio with the perfect light, where all the cameras behave well. Thank you! More and more convinced that this should be my next jump.
Agreed! I like to see real world results! Appreciate the watch & sub!!
I've owned my c70 for a little over a year now upgrading from the C100 mkII. Best decision I've made. I, too, shoot solo, run and gun doc style. This camera does everything I need with out tricking it out, although I can if necessary. Definitely get the speed booster. It's pretty heavy for a gimbal. So I just picked up the r7 for my Ronin and to use as my b cam. If you're on the fence, do it. Trust me. Nice work Brock!
❤
been waiting for this one, sold my FX3 to switch over to the C70, and you just made my decision a ton more of a YES.. Just the Built ND's alone is why a c70 will be a perfect camera for me. I was going for looks and unfortunately I had to see what it feels like to purchase a camera that I thought I wanted but after months of using, I wish I got the C70 first.. but hey we live and learn, amazing images man thank you for this video.
Been there many times!! Glad I could help confirm your opinions! Thanks for watching!!
Haha same boat! The FX3 was a fun camera to shoot run and gun content and documentaries but the C70 is such a beast. So many advantages on the C70! Love the colors straight out of the Canon color science.
The C70 has are very special and unique look to it. Love it! Since I am doing photography and videography mainly as a hobby, I can’t afford the C70, but it would be my first choice for a professional camera!
Totally understand! If you need a hybrid, there is nothing wrong with a mirrorless option! I just don’t do much photography anymore so I needed a dedicated camera for video!
The shot of the dog is particularly beautiful. Well done.
Thanks!!
Love the footage!! it looks so good!
Thanks man!!
Awesome shots man! I owned and operated a RED Scarlet-X as a cinematographer full time for 7 years. The camera was fantastic, but it had gotten old and clunky, hard to find replacement memory cards, and it was always a heavy behemoth. In January 2020 I finally let it go and bought a Pocket 6K and fully kitted it out. Loved the image but hated the ergonomics and lopsided balance, and I definitely loathed the battery situation on that thing. Overall, it was a disappointment, so I bought the C70 as a B-cam to eliminate some of the pain in various shooting scenarios. However, I ended up absolutely loving the C70. It's an incredible little camera and so convenient with its built-in ND's and crazy long battery life. When Canon gave it RAW is when I sold off the Pocket 6K for good. It's still amazing to me that such a small, lightweight camera smokes that RED Scarlet for only $5,500 but here we are. lol Again, great shots, everything looks (and sounds) excellent! Keep up the good work!
Thanks man!! Really appreciate the kind words. I too love this camera!
Great insight & footage examples!
Thank you!! Really appreciate it
that intro-montage fire my fried 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks bro!!
Yo!!!!! That intro is amazing!
Thank you for sharing. I’d love to test this thing out on a shoot!
Thanks bro!! Definitely!!
You’re my man! I have r6 mkii and now C70. I do stills and video as well so I call this perfect combo. C70 is (for the price) top camera. Did you try to match r6 footage to c70? Any tips? Great video. Have great day. M.
It is definitely a great combo!! I find the footage easy to match. Biggest difference in the two cameras is dynamic range. As long as the R6 II is exposed properly they’re fairly easy to match!
Cant believe your subscriber count my man, you should be up there with the rest of the popular youtubers discussing camera based content.
Haha thanks! All good. You have to start somewhere.
100% agree with you , the c70 really great camera , thank you
Thanks for watching!!
Awesome footage dude!! 🙌🏼 Out of interest - do you add any sharpening in camera?
Thanks man!! I actually don't! I usually prefer the softer cinematic look that the C70 gives!
@@BrockRoberts cheers dude. Your footage just looked sharper (in a good way though) than mine. I think your lenses are way better than what I have atm. Good to have another c70 RUclipsr to follow! Keen to see more of your workflow 🤙🏼
@@edconey really appreciate the kinds words bro! Lenses can definitely make a HUGE difference! Thanks for watching and for the sub!!
I think the FX6 is much more of a competitor to the C70 than the FX3 (price and features between the FX6 and C70 are much closer than the FX3.) I bought the FX6 and am very happy with it. The C70 would have been my 2nd choice though. It looks very good.
For me, I feel the C70 and Red Komodo are the best options right now. The FX6 is great, I just don’t think the image holds up compared to the other two. That’s why I didn’t include it, it wasn’t really in consideration for me.
I just thought it was interesting that you talked about the FX3 but not the FX6. FX6 is certainly the one I’d use as a comparison not the FX3 which is really a mirrorless.
As far as image quality between the Komodo, the C70 and the FX6 (as well as a few other small cinema cameras) this video has a lot of good comparisons
m.ruclips.net/video/MyoRpzDe2QA/видео.html
@@GabeStrong fair point! The FX3 is just what comes to mind more so than the FX6.
@@BrockRoberts You are not the only one to say that. I have to wonder if that is because the FX6 seems to be very hard to get ahold of and the FX3 much less hard to get ahold of? I mean it's easier to talk about, compare and contrast cameras that you can actually hold and use! Sony seems to be having a very hard time with stock of the FX6 for some reason.
Anyways, back to the C70....what lenses are you using with it? Always interested in seeing what people chose for lenses....
@@GabeStrong I still use a ton of EF glass! I also have some RF anamorphic as well!
I used the C100 mark II - a 1080 sensor.
Bit that cinema quality of that super 35 is just amazing.
I upgraded to C70 and now it's as good but with 4K at even 120fps.
I thought c70 didn't have 4k120 like the A7siii has? Was this implemented recently with a firmware update or something?
Dope video
Appreciate it!!
FX6?
True! Wasn’t in consideration for me personally. Definitely a good camera. I just think the RED & C70 are better options.
It's gotta be that DGO sensor, like how ARRI achieve their fantastic image, DGO is something that none of the other manufacturers are doing and so C70 stands out, with an Alexa... maybe!
Exactly! The DGO is HUGE! Makes such a difference.
Nice video ! I‘m going to buy C70 !
Great job love the footage love the C70
Thanks so much!
I grabbed a C70 as an upgrade from the BM6KPro, and to work alongside the Komodo. The more I use it the more I’m happy I picked it up. It’s such an easy camera. It’s really nice to have the boot up speed of a mirror less camera but in a cinema camera. Image is fantastic, great audio, and paired with the Viltrox speedbooster it’s got a near FF field
Of view. It is big, but I like that. The only thing I wish it had was a tilting grip. If anybody is thinking “is it worth it” I definitely think it is.
Ah nice!! Yes I absolutely love it! It’s funny I actually picked up a tilting grip from smallrig to throw on the cage!
I'm not sure I'd call the c70 "big" given that it's literally the smallest fully featured cine cam that has features like ND, 4ch audio w/ xlr, internal raw, uncropped 120fps, TC, grip, and monitor, etc. Add a grip and monitor and battery to komodo and it's much bigger with a lot more failure points and terrible audio and ergonomics and no ND.
@@noahyv true it ain’t big, but I usually don’t throw any of those things on my Komodo for the stuff I shoot so in that regard the c70 is “big”ger.
What are you thoughts BM6kPro vs C70 in terms of image quality?
@@smakujem3966 if you’re asking me, I think the image from the 6k Pro is slightly better. But better is subjective here. It’s different. Has a different texture to it. That being said the Komodo, C70 and 6K Pro are all pretty easy to match to one another and look pretty similar.
SOLID REVIEW BRO, I HAVE A ISSUE WITH MY 35mm 1.4 VIGNETTING WITH THE .71 SPEED BOOSTER. HAVE YOU NOTICED VIGNETTING WITH WIDER LENSES?
Thanks!! I have noticed a huge issue to be honest!
This guy makes video good
😂😂 appreciate you
amazing footage 👌🎥
Thanks!!!
Love your review... BUT...I'm waiting for one of you guys to mention C70 as a camera CAPABLE of shooting a feature film. I don't understand why no one recommends or accepts the fact that the C70 would be GREAT for shooting a feature. They've shot VERY successful features on far less than what the C70 is. And, finally...it AIN'T the "camera"...it's the story, the movie... C70 is WAY BEYOND capable for feature film movie. And if I don't see one, I hope to create one. My career in film business has been as writer for tv and pay channels like SHOWTIME...and C70 would've worked on MacGyver(intial one--never seen any of the new)...and other stuff TV...and NO QUESTION... feature. Don't know jack about commercials. Docs. But in tv and movies? It's the story. C70 is PERFECT. "Cinematic" really means "damn good movie"...
I’m sure it could be used for a feature!!
Hey great review! Question...my wife shoots weddings with a 5dm4 and a c100m2...she really isn't loving the c100 anymore...what would be a step up for her?
Thanks! A natural upgrade would be something like a C200 or even the C70. You could find a used C200 for a good deal.
What anamorphic lens did you use in the intro. Vazen ?
Some of it was anamorphic and some wasn’t! Used the SIRUI 50mm
Matti is that you?
Nope.
Are you using the speedbooster?
I am! I talked about it in the video!
@@BrockRoberts what other questions can we ask that would be answered if we just watched the video?
