Shit, I have two c70s, R5c, and two XF605s and wonder do I have too much shit. 6k? who cares. We all know it is also about the lens. You should buy cameras like you buy cars. You buy a 2024, do you buy a 2025 when it comes out? No. You only get a new one when its time when specific issues hold you back. Depending on when you got that c70, that should hold you for years. I jumped from the 1dx to C70s when they came out. I hated audio connection on 1Dx and there was no log. The c70 hit everything I needed. When I film with r5c for a while I forget how good the c70 is.

I've been using DR since 15, but I am now trying to dive deeper into it and learn the whole tool. Its a beast!

I started on a 5D mark2 waaaaay back in the day Any camera today has mind blowing specs when you really think about it You can always play the 'what if' game but at a certain point you gotta stop looking at that shiny new thing thinking about how that is going to take you to the next level and just make the most with what you've got especially if it does everything you need Now if it doesnt do what you need thats a different story, the wrong tool for the job is the wrong tool Not every camera works for every situation, and every camera has their drawbacks

Believe it or not my production company shoots with a couple of the old C300m2 for the ergonomics and a couple of R3 for gimbal related work for tv work such as cooking shows, traveling, magazines and documentary. Latest and greatest is good and all but profit in the pocket is more important at the end of the day than to spend money constantly on new upgrades on the latest and greatest.

I only have an r5. I do a lot of photo and video work and make good money. I really want to potentially get a c70. But then I also would rather put that money towards a c400. I really want to own my first canon cinema camera. I found a used c70 with 95 hours on it for $3600 locally. Not sure if I should pull the trigger cause then I’ll have less reason to get c400. I really want that organic filmic look the c70 gives and scared the c400 will look too clinical. Can I have your advise bro??

No, fight the G.A.S. :) C70 is the best solo shooter camera on the market, by far. Nothing touches it, wait for the Mark II.

Saturation is unnatural high. Magenta in the shadows. At 00:57 api have to hit that talent with light. Window middle frame is creating a tangent on his face,.

You grading is off. What monitor are you using? Flat under exposed. You have to lift those shot up. You are trying to keep the sky exposed but you are under exposed on the model. You need to keep the skin tones at 55 - 60 and they are not in your footage.

C400 is the same sensor of R3

Canon C70 has been the only camera I regretted selling. Incredible image, incredibly useful 10 stop ND, that face only autofocus is so good, and it just worked. Every other camera has felt like a compromise. FX3 needs screw-in ND filters, FX6 is a pain to use, Komodo / BMCC6K doesn't have autofocus etc, S5IIX /A7IV has cropped 4k 60fps, Canon R5C doesn't have CLog2 & micro HDMI is a no, and R5II has line-skipped 4K 60FPS & is overpriced, and C400 is overpriced (IMO). Waiting to others to sell theirs so I can grab one for under $3000 ;)

Filmed with the c70 a few days ago. Do you truly need to upgrade if it’s working perfectly fine. Ask yourself what upgrades are clients asking you to use? That camera is great, I personally would love to have a full frame cinema camera but do I really need it if this camera has been executing everything I needed to do. Wait and grab the 400C when the prices drop lol. Can’t wait to see your short film.

The answer is .....NO... because &/(¤#(/" Canon didn put an DGO sensor in the C400 camera... and no you cant even use the C70 together with the C400... its shitty that they do this every fucking time man... Even the R5C with the 45 MP sensor is to sharp to put together with the C70 and it doesent have the same c-logs... the canon C400 has c- log 2 but is 26 MP and the C70 is 9 MP... But the C400 together with the R1 is the only two cameras that on paper would match up in sharpness c-log colors and MP.. so yeah... if you get the C400 and an R1 as a B - cam it could work.. on paper and in theory. But listen... if you want to have a good setup you need two C70 cameras... its the only match... (or C70 + C300 mark 3 but yeah EF and RF and all that.. damn it canon..)

I'm still getting up to speed with my C70 and still don't feel I've gotten the full quality results out of it yet. That said, it's still a great camera and has met or exceeded my expectations. I'm close to posting my 6-month observations on the C70 and I'm titling it "The C70 - the Odd Duck Cine Camera" Sums it up - with all it's strengths a very good camera, but definitely a weird camera!

I am content is the lie I tell myself before I buy new gear

The C400 looks like it won't have more dynamic range than the C70. The C70 data footprint and body are smaller. The R5ii file sizes are annoying at twice the data and the dynamic range even in CLOG2 isn't as good as the C70. Also no internal ND's or XLR, the R1 has no flip or tilt screen. I feel I might rather buy a C500 ii at the price they are going for new vs anything new Canon has coming. With a C500 MKii the C70 still makes the best B-cam IMO

I just sold my C70 and got a Blackmagic cinema camera Full frame since I mostly do narrative film work. But C70 is amazingly versatile.
