Upgraded from a 70D last month. The keeper rate went skyrocket with this camera. It eliminated all my problems and frustrations with an APS-C DSLR almost completely like low light performance and focusing problems.

Being an owner of sony a73 i decided to get a second body,, deciding to go for the R6 mark 2 instead of the sony a74 i have no regrets since i have many EF lenses..I was amazed that it performed well using a rf to ef adapter.. and the autofucus of the R6 mark 2 is very sticky..Im glad i made the right choice..
So Nikon just released Z6ii for $4499aud, and I can now get R6ii for around $3000.... guess I'm moving to Canon!! never thought I would, but I need a mirrorless that can actually focus in challenging and low light situations
I ordered this camera in July and it still hasn’t arrived haha (upgrading from a 7D) so its great to hear this, I doubt ill have any buyers remorse. Also I love the Helios 44-2 footage in here (could be anamorphic haha, still, very cool)
Great review Brock. At this point in my career, especially with my career change, I've really had no need to add equipment to the vault. Haha. My R5 and C100 Mark II are plenty for what we need. To answer your question, my "go-to" hybrid camera is my R5. Love the versatility of it. I can shoot horizontally all day, 4K Fine (down sampled 8k) and can crop in all day and make vertical footage. Not to mention the ability to shoot 8K and really retain detail when I choose to crop in for vertical content. The camera is pretty future proof I think.
I guess it's cause I don't focus solely on photography but I've never understood the need to miniaturize all your gear, or specifically the camera. I'm a relatively small person and I still prefer the beefier feel of Canon. Copying apple and trying to make your products tiny won't make them worth more nor work better.
I agree! Canon colors and images are just so much better than the rest. I know it’s subjective, with that said I personally find Canon to be more logical with their engineering and overall camera designs. The buttons make sense and they feel natural in your hand. The Sony feels like a camera in your hand as the Canon feels like one with my hand and mind, it’s more natural feeling when shooting content. Best Wishes! - CJ Smith
The canon r6 mark ii is a great camera. Most cameras are good at only one thing but lack on all other areas. IMO the r6ii is not the best at everything but it’s good at everything. It might just be the best hybrid camera right now.
I can't stand how much my R6 overheats, especially when I shoot at 4k60. It genuinely the only thing that makes me regret the purchase. I got mine brand new years ago and paid retail, and for 2500, I don't think a camera should be overheating at 4k60 shooting shorter clips. Especially when I shoot night events indoors, if it's hot, it'll overheat in 4k24 & 4k30 ---__--- All that said, it's an amazing camera, I could imagine this mk2 feels much improved in that department
I just got the R6ii with a tamron 24-70 2.8 with the mieke adapter. I’m coming from the 80d and honestly am having trouble getting good footage out of the camera!! What am I doing wrong? I feel like a beginner again! I’m using log for the first time but feel like I’m doing it right. I feel like the footage just doesn’t look all that great so far? Especially outside. What could I be doing wrong? Ughh. Thinking about returning. Is it the lens? Is it me!? Can someone help me here!?
It’s so hard to say what the issue could be to be honest. I don’t have experience with the tamron or the adapter tbh. I’d recommend checking out some color grading videos if this is your first stab at using Log footage. It can be difficult if you’ve never had to grade footage like that before. It can leave some to be desired if not done correctly.
@@BrockRoberts yes, so far i've use a lut converter and then do some tweeking with the color wheels, but i havnt been (blown away) by the footage like i had hoped coming from an 80d. :( also that lens is super heavy which is a downer. Looking at maybe downgrading to the R7 to have lighter lens options or even going to a new system? pretty frustrating.

I don’t mean that in a mean way haha I just know from experience (& the video above) that the R6ii produces killer video. 🤷🏼♂️ R7 will definitely be a downgrade. I’d recommend sticking with it and moving to Canon EF lenses or Sigma EF lenses. The camera isn’t the problem.

@@dilpreetsingh8123 use the histogram and I expose just slightly to the right. Not too much. You always want to preserve the highlights and make sure they aren’t clipping.

Ergonomics of Canon? That display set on the side, like '80s camcorders, is hardly ergonomics success, ain't it? You look on the side of the camera instead in line with lenses, like Sony and Nikon... I bought this, a few months ago, switched from Nikon for lenses and video specs, but just cannot say that it's ergonomically sound. It's more of a mess.

It's the cheapest way to get articulated screen so nobody can't say "it hasn't". Why do you think most expensive Panasonic, Sony and Nikon cameras have "in line" flipping screens? Those three companies are certainly at the top of the game.

No doubt! It’s definitely the best all around IMO for the money. To me, it’s great at photo and really good at video.

Yes it’s definitely frustrating on the Mk I. The Mkii hasn’t overheated on me once. Much improved!
How about the EF lenses and lenses from other third parties?
I use them all the time, I mostly use EF lenses to be honest. A lot of them are from the Sigma Art Series. I love them!

I would go with the Sigma 24-70 f2.8!! Focuses really fast and is cheaper than the canon version.

Love it! They work great on the r62. Part of that is the C70 autofocus not being as good as the R62.

I rarely use digital stabilization on the R6 Mkii. I find the ibis works better.
