Wow! Like Yoga, there is so much of a physical and spiritual end to it, focusing on alignment, posture, muscular power, and range of motion. Thank you for giving out this basic detailed knowledge of Indian classical dance to the world.
Order is the First Law of Nature. Everything has a right place and a right position. When we learn them correctly, there is no unwanted stress or strain anywhere in the body. When we are pain free, naturally it will be a beautiful posture to behold. Knowing where to shift the body weight decides everything we do.
Hello ma’am..I’m one among those thousands who admire you extraordinarily style of wearing on one for the most ancient classical dance forms by your most graceful moves ..your way of dancing has just left me with so much of curiosity..!! I have been training Bharatanatyam for 10 years now in Kerala kalamandalam style ...unfortunately I had never come across Radha kalpa method ...I’m am a person who look forward to quality in dancing rather than quantity..I have clearly found it here ...I’m from Banglore...I would be really grateful to know if there is anyway I can Improve my skills under your teachings ..!! Looking forward to your reply...thank you..!!
There is a similar stance in samba de gafieira for the ladies here in Brasil. It is a very common stance and it is normally executed in transitions from one movement sequence to the next, tipically it falls at the end of a muiscal phrase divided into 8 or at the end of a musical compass divided into two short(weak) times and one longer(strong) one. Teachers normally advise the ladies to keep their heels up and to extend their legs far and to point their hills upward, but it is a movement normally executed quickly and it is made to match the gentleman's movement, so the lady's leg that is farther from him extends realeasing the energy he sends ser, and traditionally the uper body is aligned to the legs similar to Bharatanatyam. It is still like that in Rio de Janeiro, where dancers are more focused in performances, but here in São Paulo most schools teach the adapted form, where that upper body of the dancers twists in order for them to feel more connected and the communication between them to be less rough and generally more apropriate for social events and bailes(baals). Ladies often wear misniskirts on top of leggings whe it is cold or other movable clothes in order to emphacise their movements. The distance between the ladie's feet is smaller too not only because of the timing of the song, "Alidan"position seems closer to martial arts. There is something similar in Karate too called Zenkutsu Dachi. The reference of the distance of the feet is also two shoulders's length, as I commented in the video about Vaishya Kastanan, but here the back feet doesn't have the heel pointing upward, but has the toes pointing not quite 45 degrees to the side and the heel resting on the ground with roughly 30% of the body weight on the back leg. It is a very stable position and a position of reference to aikido as well, but frequently with a smaller distance between the feet in order to allow for more mobility. The feet at the back can resist well pressure directed from the front of the body and it is relativelly easy to move to the sides in this position. Also, as your center of gravity is low and most of your weight is on your front leg it is relativelly easier to execute a more powerful tsuki(puch) particularlly as you advance forward and direct both your weight that had been concentrated on your front leg, the inercial of your movement and the pressure and connection to the energy of the ground.
