Hello! I have had good results following your advice. I have delicate thin nails naturally. As I’ve aged, vertical ridges have appeared on my pinky and ring fingers. I’ve used the OPI treatment for a week. The ridging has calmed down. The free edges of my nails have improved too. Thank you, Salon Life!
I started doing a gentle manicure a year ago evey week following your advice and I managed to grow my nails (I'm a biter) and keep them in good shape. I love painting them in different colours. I never thought I'd reached this point. Oh, and my nail beds look longer now. First time in my life that I don't feel self-conscious about my hands.
So happy to hear this :)))
Thank you for your comment, I just started. I could never get my nail to grow.
My nails have never looked better after following your instructions!
Yay! So happy to hear this!
After only 1 week of jojoba and Kerasal my nails, and the PNF, are already looking so much better. I cringe every time I see someone on RUclips cutting the pnf……I reply with a link to your channel.
It looks a million times better! This is nail and living skin rehab at its finest!
Your informative videos are the reason I was able to nurse my damaged nails back to health! This video is great--simple basic care for natural nails. I love it! Thank you.
Thank you so much :)) Simple is good :)
Those hands and nails are absolutely beautiful !
It's great to find someone giving advice on natural nail care and manicures. I am trying hard to really look after my nails. I don't want them long just short and healthy so I can wear polish if I want to. Thankyou
I could listen to you talk literally FOREVER. Thank you for such helpful videos!! I wish I could get a manicure from you 😩
I just found you a few weeks ago. Subscribed. When you push back the skin.. that is where manicurist in my area cut. I know that's wrong now. I'm in the state of California, USA 🇺🇸. It is a practice here. My hands are looking great. Thank you so much for showing me the correct way.
Congrats to the client for consistency 😊🎉
Exactly! I’m so impressed!
I use the Blue Cross once a week but only leave it on for one minute. I tried for a minute and a half but my nails didn’t like it. Even so, your routine with the jojoba oil has made all the difference to my nails, and you’ve made it acceptable for them to be their best but not perfect. Thank you so much!
Beautiful nails … great job to both of you. Client obviously is doing some home care and manicurist is doing “just enough” care. ❤😊💅🏼💃🏻
Your method has been so beneficial for me for years now! I can't thank you enough. I have a very hands-on job now that is rough on my hands and nails. Using your method of care has lessened damage. I am always pulling out my cuticle oil and hand cream at work after hand wash. 😅
Thanks, as always, for your helpful advice!
Thank you Anna, another great helpful video ❤.
beautiful natural nails 😍
Love these videos, thank you Anna
Thank you for this video 🕊!
I was glad to see how you rocked on the cuticle! Thanks for sharing!
I wish I could go to you to get my feet done. I’m at an age where it’s hard to reach my feet, but the pedicures where I live are all focused on soak, massage, polish. That is not what I want. Also, despite the high end salons my sister and great aunt patronize in two different states, they both have nail fungus! So I am just going to follow your instructions to the best of my ability and slather on a good quality cream, like L’Occitaine. PS The bottle of Blue Cross arrived yesterday.
That patron has such pretty hands.
I love watching an expert work. Learning so much, thank you.❤
Wow, with the right technique and products beautiful nails are possible 💅🏼 love it.
In the before photos I recognize the inflammation around her PNF. That’s exactly how my hands looked from picking at the dry skin. I am definitely more mindful now and finally realize the damage I have done. Thank you so much, Anna.
Omg im in my 50,s and by watching this ive only just learnt that what i thought was cuticle isnt wow thanku
Love it, thanks for sharing❤
Her hands look great!
That's so sweet !!! I've really started oiling after washing my hands 3 weeks ago and truly all your advices and tips are so effective. Thank you for being here 😉👍my proximal nail fold thanks you everytime I wash my hands 😁 besos
Thank you for the cuticle removal tips! My nails used to rip with any length, following your guidelines I'm now able to grow them to a fairly decent length with no problems!
Learned so much from this video. Thank you for being open to teach so freely. I’ve been doing too much to my nails for too long. God bless you and your business ❤🙏🏾
I’m obsessed with clean nails so I cut my cuticles with a nail clipper (I know, I know, it’s super bad!) but I’ve noticed that they got really irritated when I do it and my nails started to develop this curvatures that I don’t like. so I found your channel like two weeks ago and I’ve decided to start being more gentle with my nails. you just inspired me so much plus your videos relax me ☺️ I’m gonna try my best to avoid cutting them! and not skipping oil and hand cream. thank you! 💖
It absolutely changed my nails and skin for the better! No irritated skin from cutting, or stretched skin that's stuck to the nail. And all you have to do is nudge back the skin regularly and use oil every day. Good luck and enjoy the difference ❤
Hello, it's important to know that you are cutting the skin fold, not the cuticle (I explained the difference in the video). And yes, when the skin around the nail is infmammed it can affect the way the nail is growing.
You’re going to notice such a difference! I had given up on having my nails done or doing my own until I found this channel and started following her advice.
I love this type of video
It give me the power to let my nails grow and just oils them
Till all the part that has semi permanent on it will grow
Anna, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and clear examples in these videos. I especially love seeing these very short nails as I must keep mine short for playing the piano. It is amazing to see how much better my nails look after following your advice. There is something so satisfying about seeing health and beauty in partnership. Thank you!
Enjoyed watching ❤
finally found someone post about hand 😮❤❤❤
Beautiful ❤
Cześć! I started following your advice about leaving the skin around the nail alone and putting oil on the cuticles every time I wash my hands and my nails are looking much better. I’m so glad I found you. Thank you
Just bought the staleks, I love how gentle it seems to be! You have changed my nails. Thank you ❤
It is a great quality tool. When you get it please let me know how you like it.
I found you 2 days ago and have watched 3 videos. I figured out this way 20 years ago, but thought it wasn't correct. I didn't use tools and pushed back the fold with my opposite hand after washing dishes and lightly rubbing off the cuticle with my nails. Watching your channel has changed my hand washing routine and my nails/skin feels comfortable already.
I am beginning my journey to care properly for my peeling nails, rough pnf and ragged cuticles. I’m waiting for my order of kerasol and opi repair mode. In the meantime using lotion and jojoba oil every hand wash. I promise not to cut the pnf anymore. Looking forward to reassess in a month. Thank you for all the great advice!!
I’m addicted to my cuticle cutter. You can definitely see the difference in her before and after cutting that skin fold, it actually looks sore and red In the before but really nice in the after. I am on a natural nail journey now myself, just took all my acrylic off and cut my nails off to grow them out healthy. This is not easy but your videos really do help. Thank you
I’ve been doing my manicures around home following your advise, doing weekly oil soaks and gently pushing back the nail fold with a wood stick every few days. I also use a little oil every time I wash my hands. The skin around my nails look so much better! I’m still not using polish as I’m growing out two nails that have separated from the nail bed and keeping my nails very short. I also had two nails that were always splitting down the middle but they seem to have stopped doing that. Also using CND Rescue. Thanks for all your great advise!
I had 2 nails separating also. Thought it was a hopeless situation. Because of Opi repair mode which was reviewed on this channel, I no longer have nails which are lifting . I used 2x daily for 2 weeks , 1x daily for a week then every 5 days . No nail polish for months now and I don’t miss it . Good luck ! 😊
✨wow✨
Your viedos are very informative and also relaxing haha I have never really learned how to (gently!) take care of my nails. Could you do a video about how to everyday take care of toenails and skin of the feet at home? Or maybe you have such a video and I just dont know about it 😅
Beautiful ! I am in Week 2 After i take the semipermanent out
Only CND rescue i Apply 2 times PER day
And i want or buy jojoba oil to also oil my nails
Hello, thank you for this. Could you tell me what’s the oil you’re using?
Hi! Big fan here. I've rewatched a lot of your videos to avoid repeating the question. Do you have any advice for flat nails? Doctors often ask for iron tests when they see the shape of my nails, but I'm healthy; it's just their natural shape. I used to use rubber base to give them a more resilient shape, but since I stopped doing that several months ago and started following your advice, my nails frequently break in the stress area even though I keep them very short. I'm sorry for asking for free advice 😢 thank you sm for your videos ❤
After doing my own nails for over 2 years now, I’ve accidentally done quite a bit of damage by overfiling. I’ve had everything off my nails now as they regrow and it’s getting much better. I want to continue with gentle manicures, but I still love the look of gel and not having to worry about chipping or wear. What is the solution if I want to keep doing gel in the future? Doing overlays instead of just base so I don’t file through it? What would you suggest?
All your videos are super informative which made to start my nail care journey. Quick question: I do have germanicure cuticle pusher and the other side is super sharp which you use to remove cuticles. Is that how it is supposed to be or I should change it? The one you are showing is smooth.
Thanks for this video! I'm excited to start my healing nail journey 😊
I was wondering do you have a video on how to reshape the nail bed? Or how to shape the nail to encourage that growth?
Thanks! 🌼

I do mine dry and the cuticle is stuck down very hard. So I press way too hard on the matrix in the skin fold area of the plate. I push it all back and from side to side, but like you said it gets way under the fold so that’s why I have to use nippers to grab it and pull it out. It usually comes out fairly easy. But I’m starting to do them more often and I’m pushing back everyday. I definitely have too much cuticle to not use any nippers. For now. I’ll keep trying. I do have a German high quality tool which is a cuticle knife. That separates the cuticle from the plate extremely well but mine are 30 years old and been sharpened professionally many times. But that causes less damage than using the drill because I have very high arches. When I carefully used a tiny bit the last time I can see it slightly flattened out one plate near the cuticle. So I prefer not using the efile and use my cuticle knife if needed.
3 things will make it better.
#1. Use Kerasal ointment every night. Over time it will make the cuticle less stuck
#2. Use cuticle remover like Blue Cross.
#3. Weekly manicures with Blue Cross.
When you are removing the cuticle side to side it should not get under the skin fold.
Cuticle is a bunch of loose skin cells so usually nippers are not necessary.

When do I put on Kerasol and when do I put on cuticle oil?
Her nails look beautiful! Do you use gloves when doing dishes?
What clear coat do you recommend I’ve got one that pink but it’s clear but it’s a strengthening base coat I don’t want a strengthener or hardener as my nail are quite hard and I get stress fractures when bent when my nails are dry.
hi! I discovered your channel and I'm in love with your content! maybe someday I'll dm you and ask something about my nails or share something about my experience! 💜 btw, I would love to ask if you have any videos talking about evening the smile lines, I think I have uneven and overgrown hyponychium. Thanks for the content, so helpful, my nails already feel great and I've been following you for a week👏🏼 love from spain!!!! gentle manicure team already!
Hello :)) I’m in Spain too! The smile line sometimes is uneven if the nails are damaged or there is a history of nail biting or picking etc.
Sometimes the shape of the smile line corrects itself and sometimes it does not.
Gentle care is all we can do (and keep our fingers crossed. No pun intended 😅)
what would you suggest to do when a client comes in with super and i mean super stuck cuticles. Even if we are able to push back, you are left with a thick layer of skin fold. The cuticle remover doesn’t completely remove it all. would it be ok to nip some of it off? all your example clients have had awesome cuticles so its a good thing you don’t have those problems 😅 thanks!
What polish brands do you recommend?
Which is better for the at-home DIY gentle manicure--the Staleks metal tools or a glass cuticle pusher? Thank you !
To use on yourself I think Staleks.
Why don't the majority of salons teach their customers these things?
Crazy,I just had a manicure today ( I go about every month or two) and they always clip the cuticle….has that ruined my nails? Or if I start your technique in a week will my nails respond positively? Watching this made so much more sense! Thank you.
I guess they trimmed the skin fold? It's OK to remove the cuticle...
I’ve been told that one reason that it’s better for nail techs to use the e file (if they are trained in it, I had a nail tech that wouldn’t use it except on the free edge because she said she hadn’t been trained in it) is due to the danger of repetitive injury. We do only one set of nails-ours. A nail tech does multiple nails a day, which is a lot of filing.
Yes for sure. Especially when it comes to gels and acrylic. That’s a lot of filing!
Hi, can you use the cuticle remover before applying shellac or a structure manicure? thanks!❤
I prefer dry manicures for any type of enhancements but this is a professional service :)
Is there an alternative to Kerasal? It is unavailable in my country and we don't have access to Amazon. Amazon in neighbouring countries doesn't sell Kerasal either 😞
Thank you in advance 🙂
It looks like it holds up better on nails that are in better condition…
Yes, always.
The new nail is growing normal and not damaged :) No cosmetic can make the nails grow faster though.
Hey, love your videos! I have a question (im a guy, i love doing self care) i was wondering if you could help me with something nail related.
So a month ago or so, i used my mom's drill bit tool to remove gel polish (shes a nail tech) and now my nail bed feels extremely sensitive to wind and cold objects.. without a top coat on, or strengthener or hardener, its very annoying but not painful
Hello there :)) Here is a video that should answer all your questions
You took off Acrylics, Gels or Dip nails and discovered DISASTER. What's next?
ruclips.net/video/rITW2ZMpll0/видео.html
I'm on week 3 of no cutting the skin folds. It has been going well but suddenly the skin folds are sort of... not sure how to describe it. Flaking and hardening? It isn't the cuticle. I'm moisturizing and pushing daily, more than once with the orange wood stick. Is this normal to sometimes happen?
❣️❣️❣️
The Cuticle oil in the States is $6.99. In Canada, it’ $26.99!!!!! SAME product; Same size!!!!!!!
Which oil?
How soon after you polish your nails can you put the cuticle oil on?
Depends on the brand. Usually when the nail polish is set (dry to gentle touch)
I don't remove cuticles often, only push back. Don't mess with your nails or hair, you can't undo damage! Take it easy! UK 🇬🇧
Removing cuticle is perfectly fine. Nudging back the skin fold too. But people cut the skin fold thinking it’s a cuticle. It’s important to know the difference.
Ps. Here I explained it in detail
The best way to remove a cuticle! [and the easiest!!]
ruclips.net/video/I8ByJdrpnFs/видео.html
My nails are looking so much better since following your instructions and made it a weekly routine.
May I ask is it safe to use blue cross weekly? Is there any alternative cuticle remover on the market?
Yes totally. I recommend it for weekly manicures (I mean normal nails and skin). Don’t extend the time you leave it on and rinse it off well with water.
Other removers I personally used and liked very much was Orly Cutique. The blue Sally Hansen is good too. Many of them are good.
I don't understand why anyone wants to be removing the cuticle in the first place. When they're healthy and hydrated and lying down on the nail like a happy little seal protecting the living skin fold, they look great.
We remove the cuticle so the nail polish goes on better and doesn't peel, I explained this in the video.
Cuticle is between the skin fold and the nail. Once the cuticle has passed the nail fold it's OK to remove it because it's not sealing anything there anymore.
Removing the cuticle from under the skin fold is not safe because then yes, you are removing the seal.
Cuticle does not protect the skin fold. It sticks the skin fold to the nail plate.
Can someone tell me what hand and nail cream to use for very acrylics damaged nails and very dry hand skin? (obviously i know that i should use nail oils!) Any "nail strengthener" vanishes?
Here is a video about damage:

@@TheSalonLife thank you so much!
Where can I find a gentle manicure??
The best way is to learn it how to do it yourself :)
Every time I try to get into a routine, I end up making my nails even worse. Removing polish weekly is what trashes my nails. I have tried every brand/kind, pure acetone, doesn’t make a difference. Within two uses of a remover, my nails start peeling again. :(
So when you leave the polish on for longer than a week, the nails are better?
Have you tried hot oil soaks between manicures? I find acetone dries the nail so much the layers can seperate, especially when theyre already damaged or overly buffed. I'd recommend taking a month break from the polish and regularly using nail oil and hot oil soaks. Keep them trimmed for a while. This has helped my nails tremendously. When going back to polish i remove it by soaking the nail on a cotton ball with acetone. So the polish softens and i can remove it in two gentle swipes. Rinse the hands asap and following up with oil or an oil soak
🙂🌹
Can you always see cuticle? I never see any on my nail
No, often it's quite invisible.
My nails have been so much better after your videos and stopping the clippers!! Thank you!
how can her pnf look so good after stoppng cutting them? i stopped 2 months ago and mine looks awful xD
It depends on the skin. She is using Kerasal and doesn’t have dry skin overall. Age also makes a difference and how you work with your hands. As we age our skin turn over slows down. Teenagers skin turns over in approx 2 weeks and elderly person as long as 3 months.
@@TheSalonLife im 31, not really dry, rarely use my hands :/ dont have kerasal here but i use urea, salicylic acid, vaseline and oils every day
So do mine !
