    Just ordered 2021 Honda CRF300L Rally Tuesday 9/28/2021 delivered Thursday 9/30/2021, only paid MSRP no delivery fee, dealer prep, or any mark up. Southern Honda Chattanooga TN. Out the door price for Rally model was $6050. Gus Wolf was salesman. He said he would let me know when they got it in and did. No deposit required. Was told it might be a couple of months but surprise delivery came in next day after I put my name on wait list.

      @@WOODZMAN subscribed ! I’m here in Thailand having some dental work and medical appointments done ( I work overseas) I just went to a local Honda dealer today , and they have both bikes ( 300L non ABS and Rally ) for $4,703 / $5,554 respectively. I’m trying to figure out how much it would be to ship that 300L home … I’m sure it’s cheaper to just buy the LED headlight/ taillight and turn indicators like you did . But I believe, this Thai variant has a 2” lower seat height than the USA/ Euro models ( I’m 5’9” 30” inseam and I can flat foot it )

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  3 года назад +1

      @@NorthwoodsNomad I didnt buy mine, Honda sent it to me, I would think it would be cheaper to ship the bike then to buy all the parts. the LED headlight, turn signals, front fender all all the other parts required to make it all work would be very expensive!

    • @NorthwoodsNomad
      @NorthwoodsNomad 3 года назад

      @@WOODZMAN if I can find space in a container that’s already being shipped , it could be only a few hundred dollars to ship it . If I ship it by itself , it’s anywhere between one to two thousand yikes 😳
      Then I’ll be dealing with import taxes and fees for registration… I don’t know 🤷‍♂️ but it’s being contemplated. I mean $4,700 is a very attractive price for this bike . Even the Rally for only $5,554 . So it makes sense for the prices in USA, the additional costs are in the shipping and freight

    I've been waiting to see who will be making a plastic skid plate. I'll look forward to hearing more on that. I was thinking of making one. I might still do that... maybe ;-)

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  3 года назад +1

      Should be a good one, I like the AXP on my 250L

    • @NorthwoodsNomad
      @NorthwoodsNomad 3 года назад

      TMD(TM Designworks) makes an excellent plastic skid plate . They are impregnated with a silicone type substance which allows for you to slide over rocks and debris as opposed to aluminum types that actually drag and create more resistance, as well as , plastic skid plates reduce engine noise reflecting back up to the rider . Aluminum skid plates will produce more pinging noise from engine vibrations .
      The plastic skid plates flex and retain the integrity of their molded shape without deformation or cracking and breaking.
      I had the TMD skid plate on my KTM 350 EXC-F and it served me well , absolutely loved it ! Simple to install ( only three bolts which came with the plate .. the bolt heads are rounded off so they will not catch or snag on anything and the hex heads are recessed , and an 8mm Allen wrench is provided , as well as an access port hole integrated into it for the oil drain plug so you don’t have to take the skid plate off when you service your bike ) and there are vent holes strategically placed throughout to allow for drainage of water and air to move freely to keep your crankcase breathing and cooling. It also wraps fully around the engine on both sides providing protection for the water pump and clutch cover .

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots 3 года назад +2

      @@NorthwoodsNomad Yeah I've used only plastic skid plates for those reasons. That's why I'm holding out for plastic even though there are aluminum plates already on the market for the bike, including one made by Honda.

    • @NorthwoodsNomad
      @NorthwoodsNomad 3 года назад +1

      @@Scoottoots yeah me too , however there’s advantages and disadvantages to both , I prefer the plastic ones for the reasons stated above , and the plastic skid plates are just a tad lighter too , which complements less unsprung weight altogether.

    I have a 300L coming. I like the mods you have done.
    Have you thought about taking off that HEAVY stock 7 LB muffler and adding a mod muffler to cut weight and add performance on motor?
    Also are you going to get Frame tape for the boot area to keep from boot damage. Interested to see which ones you go with and color.

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  3 года назад +2

      I won’t be taking the muffler off in fact I think it would hurt the power if you do. It is choked down with the muffler and smaller head pipe to give it more low end torque. An FMF or other muffler would make more top end but I want the lower end torque.
      I plan to get the stick on frame guards that is like the Gripper black, as soon alas I find it for the 300L

      I had a heck of time trying to find these as they are called "winkers" on bikerbitz but Im waiting for someone to figure out all the parts and brackets you need since it seems pretty confusing on their website what you need and if the wiring will even work.

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  3 года назад

      The wiring will work, the front winkers you will need to cut the plugs off of your old winkers and put them on the LEDs. The rear winkers plug right in. The headlight plug is different, I found one that I had and it fit. You have to cut off your halogen headlight plug. Also the way the US bike is wired for the halogen, when you switch from low beam to high beam, it shuts off the low beam and turns on the high beam side of the bulb.
      The Thailand LED when it’s in low and you switch it to high, it turns on the high but the low stays on.
      You can take a 6 Amp diode and put it from your low beam wire to your high beam wire with the stripe on the diode toward the high beam wire and this will make it work right.

      About 3/4 to 1” I’m guessing

      Thank for your speedy reply! Just picked my 300 two days ago. I sold my KTM 690 Enduro r and have no regrets. This thing is so much more nimble and the power delivery off road is so much smoother.I just came back from a ride that had a long, muddy,wet, grassy rutted section. I rode it in first gear at 5mph and it was not the least bit herky jerky. It just delivered a super smooth 5mph all the wat through. I’ve never ridden a bike that smooth in first gear before. I am very happy with the 300. I also took it on the highway today. I hit 82 and it seemed to have more.

    Will the 450 headlight work with the 300l? The US version looks too friendly to me. It’s almost like they put a discount headlamp for the US version.

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  3 года назад

      They put the same headlight on it that came one the 250L.
      The 450L headlight might work but it would take a lot of modifications to make it work

    You should change the exhaust with a yoshimura

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  3 года назад

      No way, been there done the exhaust thing. To much obnoxious noise for the power that you gain. Plus you may gain top end but you lose the bottom end torque

      I agree no need to spend that $, if you want more sound just change out the spark arrestor for one that opens up the second exhaust chamber vs pulling from the third.
