    The upgrade just isn't worth the leap in price for the average consumer. Going to have to wait for the Quest 3 and its hopefully stable price at 400. 🤞🏻💰🤞🏻

    I believe Quest 3 will be very similar if not an improved version of the Quest Pro. The pro was basically for early adopters. Meta announced they will no longer be making new pro devices and will focus on the normal Quest models. They also just lowered the pro price to $999. Quest 3 will most likely be $599 when it comes out later this year.

      Not at all. If it was better than the quest pro, it couldn't be less than it, but the quest pro is built for more educational uses, not gaming, specifically the quest 2 runs a bit better and the quest 3 will probably be better gaming wise if that's what you meant

      So basically:
      - Quest 3 has a sharper display
      - Quest Pro has much better colours and blackness
      - Quest 3 has twice the graphics power
      - Quest 3 has better battery life
      - Quest 3 has much better passthrough
      - Quest 3 is half the price
      I'd say the Quest 3 is indeed better

    I bought a refurbished Quest 1 straight from the Oculus website for $200 in 2020 lol. Incredible that it dropped so much in price so fast, considering it launched for like $400.
    I enjoy the headset, but I do not feel any pressing need to buy either a Quest 2 or Quest Pro. The Quest 1 suits my use case for this time, since it has no trouble linking to my PC with both Virtual Desktop and the built-in Air Link.
    Maybe in another year or two I would consider buying a new headset, maybe not. But as long as my Quest 1 keeps on going, I'm fine with it.

The OLED screen had such good vibrancy of colors, and great black levels... Even though pixel density wasn't as high, I still liked it for its own merits. Rest in peace my Quest 1.... you will be sorely missed. It really made a great PCVR headset. Until you care about Quest 2 exclusive standalone titles, there is not a big enough reason to upgrade until Quest 3.

    The Quest Pro starts giving me headaches after using it for 10 min due to the excessive pressure on my forehead. The Quest 2 with the KIWI headstrap on the other hand is much more comfortable to me because the weight gets balanced with the strap over your head and the whole Quest 2 weight touching my whole face. So Quest Pro basically puts all the weight on your forehead and back head... I'm surprised that for some people it's more comfortable and for others like me is just painfully uncomfortable

    • @Kalrisi_Rei
      @Kalrisi_Rei Год назад +1

      @@KadenFinity I think anybody looking at the quest pro for PCVR already has a PC worth 2-4x more than the Quest pro alone is (btw the Quest pro is now $1000, which actually makes it way cheaper than most of its "pro" competitors)
      Mic doesn't seem worse at all, much better actually (Its not a $400 studio XLR condenser mic.. but it is an upgraded 3 channel mic vs 2 channel)
      The graphics difference though? Quest Pro is INSANELY better looking than the quest 2, not to say the quest 2 is bad.. But 75% better contrast was stated by Meta.. and man.. the colours are a HUGE step up. Edge to edge clarity is unbeatable as well due to pancake lenses. No godrays, higher pixel density due to separate displays for each eye. No screendoor effect I can notice (quest 2 screendoor was already really good and not noticable unless focusing)
      Out of any of my previous headset upgrades the Quest pro by far was the biggest jump experienced. Is it worth $1000? That depends on what you do; For business use? Doesn't get much cheaper than that; For Enthusiast VR use? Amazing; Get an extended battery though. (I will add the QP actually lasts longer than my Quest 2 does now.. my quest 2 battery's health has definitely diminished and now only runs for 1.9-2.1 hours vs 2.5 hours using the QP. WITHOUT additional extended batteries) For your casual VR gamer who might pick up a headset here and there though? Wait for the quest 3.
      I use VR on a near daily basis, I would consider myself an enthusiast. Whether its me playing flight sims or throwing in some time into VRChat with friends and laying down on my bed and pulling up a huge 200in theatre screen is definitely quite enjoyable for some movie watching. Something I barely did with the Q2 due to comfort when laying down and the face discomfort after long use.

    Great video, it's nice to see more serious tech sites really appreciating the hardware in the Quest Pro, I feel a lot of the RUclips influencers really didn't understand or value all the things that the Quest Pro can, and why it justifiably costs so much more. It could equally be that they have large audiences of mostly casual VR gamers and were aiming their videos directly at them.
    My own experiences with the Quest Pro have been overwhelmingly positive however. It's my seventh VR headset and I wanted something to replace my current Quest 2, Reverb G2 setup. It's a significant upgrade over both of them, and runs PCVR games incredibly well, with visuals easily surpassing both my Reverb G2 and my Vive Pro 2, despite a lack of display port and comparatively low resolution.
    The lenses are absolutely phenomenal giving the headset true edge to edge clarity making it far more immersive and comfortable to use for long periods.
    I get a lot of people hate Meta, and a lot of people think £1500 is an expensive price for a VR headset, but for me, this is hands down the best hybrid standalone/PCVR headset on the market and it's only going to get better with software updates and new titles.

Question to you: don't you have headaches due to the excessive pressure on you forehead? I use for 10 min and already feel it... I just ordered a strap for wrap on the sides of the headset and lift it up a bit and remove the pressure but not sure what else I could do

      I have a hard time believing you didn't see the difference in FOV/Display quality between a Quest Pro and a Quest 1... Its a massive visual upgrade from the quest 2 alone and even beats headsets like the reverb G2. Pancake lenses are innately superior to Fresnal lenses by a long shot. Massively improved colours, clarity, (Especially edge to edge since there are no godrays or fresnal effects) and field of view. Field of view is relative though depending on your face/IPD/Glasses on any headset though.
      Quest pro is also at $1000 which is $500 less than it was at release already making it a much more enticing option; Granted most VR gamers looking for a headset at that range already have PC's double or triple the price of the headset alone. So it definitely hits the enthusiastic target now. Not cheap by any means, but definitely more enticing compared to the competition of the headsets at that level (And actually much cheaper too than comparative headsets like the Varjo Aero or other pro headsets)
      And that's alone without looking at the gaming experience you chose.. but even then the improvement from the Q1 to a quest pro is hard to miss on something like pistol whip. For flight sim, racing sims, VRChat, Elite.. and basically anything PCVR its incredible and leagues above even the G2 or Quest 2 PCVR in my experience. Pancake lenses are a VR life changer

I'm personally OK with 90Hz refresh rate and the ~2000x2000 per eye resolution; what I want the most is an increase in field of view degrees: at least 120 vertically and at least 150 horizontally. I know there are some mixed reality headsets that have higher FOV, but the best quality and highest compatibility with video games is offered by Meta, HTC and Valve, so I strongly believe it's best to stick with these 3 brands.

      Yes the £300 price was a no brainer for someone sitting on the fence with VR, now its £400 expectations are higher. I loved VR but found the quantity of must have games to be lacking back in Q3 2021 when i sold mine and its not improved much since. But there are still a lot of fanboi's for Quest 2 that deny these facts.

      @MeowyBrigade 2 года назад +1

      @@iakobkv271 As someone who has both and I played with quest pro for a week, the difference is stark, and you have to try it yourself. It's similar to talking about hifi speaker to a friend vs having your friend actually listen to it. For me, it is about the reduced eye strain (almost edge to edge clear, very similar to human eye but less FOV), less cable (use only 1 for Oculus Link), ease of use putting it on and off, exceptionally good tracking for the controllers (just need ambient light), and no base stations. People complain about discomfort, but I think they are exaggerating. There are forehead adjustments and perhaps they missed it.

    Quest Pro is a quintessential example of a device for early adopters. Unquestionably expensive, limited external development, limited use cases, and obvious deficiencies (battery life) that only enthusiasts should buy at this point in the product life cycle until Meta is able to manufacture and sell them for cheaper (and hopefully with a longer battery life).
    What I cannot accept is the idea of a regular office employee wearing a VR headset for multiple hours a day in order to have virtual monitors instead of simply buying three actual monitors that will surely be more comfortable to use. It's reminiscent of when the Segway was revealed and it was hard to imagine people riding those dorky-looking giant scooters in droves down the sidewalk despite media and the company's PR team insisting upon it being the inevitable future. Turned out everyone's common-sense gut reaction was the correct one.

    One of the biggest problem for quest 2 for me is the resolution. The image is not sharp and its kind of unsatisfying when I use it for playing racing games where most of the time we need to look directly forward.
