I didn't have a VR headset until just before this last Christmas and got a Quest2 (Resident Evil pack) and loved it - but had some issues with tracking. When the Quest Pro controllers became available I got those and it was such a step up ..... but then a Quest Pro came available to me secondhand.
And that was the best tech I think I've ever bought. I think I've used the Q2 maybe twice since having the Quest Pro - and even ended up buying a new desk with a bit more space so that I could do exactly like you, have it there 'always on' and I'll just grab it when I fancy a quick bit of standalone gameplay or just some more immersive youtube.
Setting up my desk in VR and paired with the colour passthrough and logitech mx keys keyboard, well I don't think I'm very far away from wanting to work 'inside' the headset - just waiting on the Microsoft Teams (and maybe office) integration

I love my Quest Pro. I use it primarily for wired PCVR as I find the image quality so much better wired than using Virtual Desktop even in Godmode. My previous headsets include a Vive Pro 2 and a Reverb G2 and even having higher resolution per eye and native DisplayPort connectivity they both look like trash compared to a Quest Pro running at 5408 x 2736 with a 4090.
I can't even stand to use any fresnel lens headsets now, the Quest 2 especially is unusable now.
I don't understand the negativity the Quest Pro got from so many RUclipsrs, for me its the best PCVR experience I've ever had by far and represents the biggest upgrade between headsets I've ever had.

      @@aronhawkings7238 It's a little harder to recommend a PS5 + PSVR2 because it's like £1000.
If you have the money to spare, and really want a PC level VR experience, then I say go right ahead.
I've been playing GT7 and RE8 and I haven't used my Quest 2 as my main since. I tried to use it once to get a comparison and immediately noticed the LCD panel, extremely lower graphics and longer loading times. The Quest 2 is amazing, but if you want a next level VR experience, but don't have a gaming PC, PS VR2 is an incredible choice.
I mean the PSVR2 has some drawbacks that you might be affected by; slight mura effect caused by OLED panels, cable, 4 - 5 hour controller battery, very small tracking issues and ghosting in games that use re-projection. All these issues bare in mind are really not noticeable once you're immersed in game, but setting expectations are important as reviews of the headset didn't really mention any of this and a lot of people were disappointed when they got their headset. However again, these issues are very, very small, and I still adore my PSVR2 experience.
Let's just say it's cheaper to buy a PS5 + PS VR2, than a Gaming PC and a headset that matches. No other VR headset has an HDR OLED panel, headset haptics and eye tracking for £550.
At the end of the day it's up to you and this is just my opinion, but I've had an absolute blast with this headset so far and bet you'll love it if you buy one.

This review and a couple other ones are the reason I picked up the Quest Pro.
Most reviews come from tech tubers with limited time and knowledge about VR headsets. They read from paper specs and frown upon Facebook while praising a competitor device from a company far worse than that... TikTok. The other camp.of reviewers are sim players. These don't care about the fact that not having a cable may be important to some. So, let me tell you my point of view as a VRChat player.
I would have never imagined to actually like having these partial light blockers. It's so easy to step in and out of VR. The passthrough - while not groundbreaking - is extremely accurate. I don't need to worry about knocking over my drink or get into the kitchen to get a refill.
I really like how there's no gasket pressing against your face as it it the case with pretty much every other headset. And even though it's a halo-style headset it rests very securely on your head. It's comparable to high class bike helmets where the inner ring is hugging your head. I was literally headbanging with the Quest Pro and it wouldn't even budge.
Eye and face tracking are already available in VRC thanks to its avid community. It will take me a long time to implement it to my avatar but I'm excited to use it, soon.
90Hz is plenty of refresh rate for most users, given you will need something to the likes of a 3090 Ti to push it on native resolution. Especially in VRChat where it's mostly limited by VRAM. Eye-tracked foveated rendering may improve on this in the future but it will take time to implement it and even then it will only be a 20% improvement, at most.
Summing it up, the Quest Pro to me is better than the sum of its parts. It's got decent specs for what it is and I find joy picking it up over the Quest 2.

Hi. I'm in a similar situation as you - got Quest Pro one month after release at about 2k eur and used it ever since as a main headset (had both Quest & Quest 2 before). I love it for the most part. Can't say I hadn't any issues with it - got the first weird UI hang and had to reboot literally 5 minutes after I booted it up for the first time. It's mostly nice though. I do hope they'll migrate to something other than Android at some point or fix the system software in some way - background service still can crash after long periods of inactivity, it often reboots on its on while charging on a dock - but still, there's a lot of good.
Used it daily for some time, stopped using for about a month lately and getting back now. Was hella impressed with the whole "The Worlds Beyond" demo with portals in my living room. A bit disappointed it can't automap my room like iPhone can / pull the data from it via some middleware so that I don't have to do it manually. And disappointed again when I couldn't find much stuff to do with Quest specific features (there's hardly any apps where passthrough actually did something experimental & new, not just replaced often prettier 3D backgrounds) - I guess, we'll have to wait and see (or go and do). But yeah, charging dock is a big thing. And it's thinness & build quality too, ofc. Hadn't noticed much difference in screens tbo - had even tried to compare it side by side with Quest 2.
I'm also waiting for some 3rd party mods to appear to make it a bit comfy and looking forward to doing something with PCVR. Have some hard times ironing out the performance for now tho, will get to it at some point. Oh, and VR demo scenes are awesome, even if they are not many of them. And AR videos are starting to appear, those promise to be fun, like holograms, finally.

Oh yeah. Ease of Use is super important. I don't want to be spending 20 minutes before and after use just to charge the thing or go through menus.
Thanks for your videos. I'm starting to wonder if the headsets have any custom operating system or home brew stuff that could make them more appealing for me.

Quest Pro Is amazing to use. Indeed the Only gripe I have is that its Comfort is not great for prolonged sessions. However like yourself I have really enjoyed the Open front fo the pro. I don't use the light blockers and I have no plans to get the facial interface. I really like still being connected to the room I'm in from checking your phone to vaping to grabbing a drink. All easy to do with out taking the HMD off or even activating a passthrough. I will still be getting the Q3 but ill be really sad to go back to a skimask style HMD I think HMDS doing forward should give you the option like the pro of how "Enclosed" you want to be. Also the controllers are amazing. Yes they can have a "wake up" time but they just work flawlessly. All the issues with IR tracked controllers are gone like aiming down sights or reaching behind etc "Though some games like the walking dead that have over the shoulder actually like to activate from the front on the pro. I keep going for my flashlight and get the backpack for example." I do hope that Future headsets will have pro like controllers or that I can Move my Pro controllers with me with future HMDS do not want to go back to IR tracked controllers.

And OFC the clarity of the Lenses are amazing. Any HMD going forward that still uses Fresnal lenses will automatically become trash. Id much rather pay £50 more to have Pancake lenses than Being stuck with fresnell for "cost cutting measures".

The rotated displays have a higher active pixel count than the quest 2. The oval images fit better in the sideways square shape increasing the viewable resolution. Plus since it uses 2 displays their is no image cutoff on the sides when using a higher ipd. I found the FOV is definitely noticeable the viewing area is more fuller. The light blocker works well and comfortable and easy clean. I dislike the fact there is no proper designated mounting point for perscription lenses. The ones I got kinda dig into the rubber around the outside of the lens area. Would of preferred a prescription lens system that has the lenses directly onto of the HMD lenes in the gap from the lens to the top of the rubber portion of the lens area. Think I'm going to try and use some velcro straps and try to rig up a top headstrap to reduce the weight on my forehead. That was definitely an oversight on their part. The back head pad definitely needed some rotation adjustment cause only a small portion touches my head, but i havn't had any discomfort so far. I keep getting visual glitches on the right eye where it flickers sometimes while in OS menu and 3D area and also in OS menu and 3D area the right eye is notably dark at the top portion, on the lord of the rings home area for some reason. Might just be my headset. Looks and works fine in-game though. The camera controllers are awesome, I can can now draw / quickdraw pistols, mags and other out of sight objects way easier. Throwing objects is way easier and accurate. And the rubber grip handstrap accessory for my quest 2 fits well and tight. Also did you notice the Oculus Easter egg??? Take a look at the charging brick. Not sure sure if it was intended or not. Meta really should give store credit to people who bought the headset and have it setup on their account before the price change. Then they will feel more justified in buying the quest pro. Prefably for the amount of the price difference. And as far as face tracking goes, there are more things than just social apps that can use these features. Example opening of the mouth activates an action. Like bobbing for apples, or turn on a headlamp flashlight. Or to help the system identify when your speaking for voice recognition at lower voice volumes. Moving the lips left and right to act like a D-pad. Opening the mouth on walking dead to make the character shout to gain the zombies attention. Smile or stick out tongue to take a screenshot or start a video recording. Winking one eye to direct an npc. Another thing that can be done with the headset is use it as a color 3D room scanner. I'm sure the augmentation will pick up even though it looks like I'm watching a 1960 color film. Though maybe increasing the saturation would make it look more fuller. Anything beyond arms reach doesn't gray out. I'm sure things within arms reach can be colorized eventually. I'm surprised they used my suggestion on the color stiching. 😁

Eye tracking on the QP is still missing some essential features.
After testing PSVR2 at a friend's place and experiencing eyetracked menus and eyetracked foveated rendering, those two are way bigger game changers than just tracking for Social VR apps.
I know Boz and Carmack have given statements that eyetracked foveated rendering on stand-alone isn't worth the needed power and wouldn't achieve a net positive yet (uses more power up front that doesn't result in better quality over all), but when you connect it to a PC and when they get the latency down enough you could experience better quality like you would have upgraded to a new GPU, making lower end ones way more viable and opening up the PCVR market for more people.
Meta should just revive and push their existing Rift platform so they can stop whining about not profiting on PCVR Quest users (like Carmack revealed during the last Connect - already missing this guy's no bullshit answers and openness to the public).

My Pico 4 has worked flawlessly for almost three months now. No fuss at all to start using it. To play PCVR I just turn on the PC, turn on the Pico and start the VD-app in the Pico and I'm ready to start any game. I have a BoboVR battery so charging and battery swap is super easy.
The AMVR facial interface made them super comfortable and I can have them on for hours if I want to without issue. I recommend this. Game changer!
I don't store my headset on my desk but hang them on the wall on a curved wall mount with the front up and lenses covered by the mount to protect the lenses from dust and accidental contact with anything.

I personally can't understand how standalone VR headset can be "Plug'n'play" - I need to turn it on, wait while it's turning on, navigate throught the menu, connect to the PC and only now I reached the step which is first for non-standalone devices (choose app to launch). And then after 0-3 hours of playing I HAVE to take a long break just because battery has discharged even if I play **wired** (I usually play wired, because image quality is nearly as good as non-standalone headsets (if I tweak the "Encode resolution Width" and "Encode Bitrate" before in Oculus Debug Tool) ). That's so much discomboft, I would buy just non-standalone Q2 for the same price just for it to don't discharge and non-compressed videostream.
These many steps before entering PCVR makes me unconsciously use VR less often as I used when I had CV1. Thanks Meta Q2's controllers has swappable batteries, so if they're dead, I just swap them and continue to use VR

I imagine there wont be any stand alone headsets with eyetracking and lip tracking for a while, which is the biggest pull for me for vrchat, quest 3 will probably be more powerfull, but i dont want power, i want features.
I doubt the quest 3 will get better controllers, nor the tracking to keep the price consumer friendly, i mean the pro controllers take half the price of the quest 2 with controllers.
So i would say the biggest pull for the pro is those controllers and tracking, and anyone who wants power instead should wait for the quest 3

No I'm not thinking of buying one. I was thinking of buying the controllers, but that was before I fixed the issue I had with my left controller of my Quest2. Nowadays I use the Quest2 mostly for Holofit and Beatsaber. I run on my elliptical nearly every day and all I need to do is pick up my headset and pick the program by handtracking. I don't use my controllers very much anymore, unless I want to play beatsaber.
My Pico4 is the headset that I use mainly for gaming and I think it is a fantastic device. I bought a new facemask that let's me play without feeling it too much (from AMVR) and since I have new straps on the controllers they sit good in my hands.
I'm waiting for the Quest 3 to come onto the market. That might be a game-changer.
But other than that, this was a nice refreshing video about the Quest Pro!
