“Man In The Box” was the song that got it all started for Alice In Chains and was the first grunge video to get significant airplay on MTV, almost a year before both Nirvana’s “Teen Spirit” and Pearl Jam’s debut album.

Released off their debut album Facelift, “Man In The Box” gradually gained success following the MTV airplay and as grunge itself began to take off. It took 3 years from it’s release to be certified Platinum.
The song would go on to become the second most-played song of the decade on mainstream rock radio between 2010 and 2019.

Kayla's got that raspy edge to her voice perfected!
I still think Gabriella Guncikova sang this song perfectly for a female but this is very good too! Ken you're the only vocal coach who demonstrates and shows your students progress I think that's why you're the best.

I just watched Gabrielas Performance on the Song and i like her singing style more then from this woman here in the Video but i guess her crispy singing style comes closer to the original Version and tone of the singer.
She should duet this with Gabriela Gunčíková, two awesome renditions of the song

Both Kayla and Gabriela did an outstanding job on this song! Superb talent! Each of them are distinct in their singing as well, which helps the listener appreciate both of their styles. Gabriela seems to have taken a more full and open singing approach to her vocals with the rasp accenting her belts, while Kayla is just full on gritty power and pain. Dare I say more “Layne-y?” Definitely some overtones in those belts on this cover like you could pick out on Layne’s isolated vocals. If Gabriela killed it, Kayla buried it and laid it to rest. I can’t decide which one I like better! Ken has trained them well. Hats off to all three of you!
The timbre of the voice reminded me of a Brazilian singer, already deceased, called Cássia Eller. A husky and powerful voice.

at first, i wasn't sure then she hit the chorus and kicked in the grit and gravel. for me, that is where she killed and made the overall cover very good. I'm partial to that gritty vocal in any rock singer.

Did a great job it's hard to live up the layne. He effortlessly sang the songs in almost two tones at the same time or from two different places in his diaphragm freaking amazing man. Why is it so many talented people burn out so quick.. I believe it's because a lot of those people are personality types they're very emotional and acutely self-aware. It's hard to carry it around.
