7:40 "don't pre-order anything" That is always good advice.
As a 7800X3D owner, I’m feeling pretty confident
More excited to see your video then anybody else about zen5
I have a new build and my 7500F is on the way, very excited. 2027+ AM5 support is nice.
definitely wait for X3D variants. im excited for x870e boards
That depends, if it will take more than 6 months from now for the x3D chips to launch.. I mean I'd rather just buy what I want today.
lol, +10% overpriced crap. same crap as 14nm++++++++ or 12-14gen from Intel. there's 0 reasons to buy that when initially it was supposed to be +50% but snapdragon-nuvia didn't deliver so now amd just plays intel handbook - milking the market with near-0% progress crap.
"gains" are laughable, there's nothing to upgrade to even from am4. and its way too overpriced to choose it over cheap-er 7000
actually amd does it on purpose to milk the market. there's no actual progress because it allows to sell old cheap-to-produce CPUs better. so everybody would buy discounted 7000 now that didn't sell before
9000 with laughable "+10%" makes no sense so amd can move more 7000 now
Can’t wait to see actual reviews, ipc increases were nice. Was hoping for 3nm and 6ghz, I think with how poorly the 14th gen intel ‘I mean rebadged 13th’ that amd actually took there foot off the gas to give even more space to improve for zen 6. But reviews need to come out
No one can make anything below 4nm as Apple has bought out all the 3 and 2nm production for a year maybe 2 years of production.
Good video overall but special thanks for actually mentioning AVX-512 I don't expect your videos to be for CPU/Industrial computing specialists but it's nice when I hear something relatable haha.
The AM4 socket being supported past 2025 just made me get up and dance!! Cheers!
there's nothing to upgrade to on am5.
"gains" are laughable
@@rawdez_check the 7600 vs 5800x3d buddy. And if am5 will last like am4 is there are lots of reasons to get am5. Now if u have a pretty decent am4 cpu thats another story. I upgraded from a 5600x to a 7600 non x. 5.5ghz allcore and staying under 80c with a cheap air cooler i dont regret at all the upgrade.
@@nexuqk 7500f still beats it nearly if you oc it good enough. im still using my 5800x3d for a minute kinda made my build to clean so i gotta keep it for a min. AM4 for life
5700x3d is 125 bucks now, these "new" am4 cpus make 0 sense though
Great work. I am looking at the X3D versions for my next build of Over 9000! CPUs not just for the memes
Im rocking am4 still.
Are the new am4 cpus going to be for pc gaming at all?
10% gains are on the lower spectrum, its mostly higher than that. plus, the TDP values are lower indicating a reduction in overall power usage
But shouldn't L1 and L2 bandwidth or throughput be better for workloads and not the gaming . ?
X3D might be called something different this time. On the AM4-AM5 platform support slide, 3D-Vcache was shown on the timeline *after* Zen4 and *before* Zen5 like it is a previous gen. I wouldn't expect whatever it will be called to come out this year, as they are treating it like its own generation.
I'd stick with Zen 4 if I had it, and wait until like August and get a cheap Zen 4 starter system if I was on something older.
Looking at this for those wanting to upgrade to the new zen platform and still on the zen 3 and older your best bet is just to get a used zen4 once zen 5 is released and get a zen 6 several years down the road once they go down to a fair price... well if you are on a budget or want top bang for buck.
I'm sure the 9000 series will be good however I will wait till they are on sale.
Great announcement! Looking forward to when the reviews are coming online ☺️
Good catch with the ddr5 limited to 6000. Liking or not intel does scale decently with faster memory, and 6000 is kind of below what a below average 14900ks can do (a good one can get to 8600-8800, even non ks 14900 generally do 7200 +).
The fact that those launch within month or so and there was no pricing announced is just weird.
The 1% lows on the 9000 series is about to be crazy
65W 8 core CPU's. I wonder if this 65W will extend to the X3D variant?
I'd need a Ryzen 9 to have an actual upgrade. Not in a rush, maybe I will adopt these EOL, use my existing DDR5 kit(s) and enjoy a few years when the itch to upgrade comes back. Nvidia keynote was about AI and robots, a lot like last year. I enjoyed it this year (caught the later part of the stream) though last year I was annoyed it wasn't geared towards gamers.
my 7600x on 5550mhz with simple autooc in ryzen master on my b650e steel legend is great for me only gaming, besides u need 1k€+ gpu to se difference in prcessors
I’ll be looking for this for my next build

Damn. They can trading blow with Intel next year just by refreshing those CPU with higher clock speed with more cache. I hate this.
they are trying to sell 7000 obviously
Saw your tweet about the NVIDIA keynote with that first photo where you were exciting like hell and that last photo where you were literally sleeping, that was so hilarious 😂
Take care our handsome Aussie brother and enjoy PC parts hunting in beautiful Taiwan ❤
Yeah it was the second year in a row.
Wait for the non x parts at 50usd lesser price.
7950x3d follows the 7900x3d into obsolescence. 9950x provides those that need 16-cores better than 7950x or 14900k with productivity software while offering similar 7800x3d gaming performance w/o the scheduling issues seen with 7950x3d.
Well, dual CCD chips still have issues when a program is all on one CCD and calls for a thread or process on the other CCD. Not to mention limited by the fabric and memory clocks.
But now every chip is doing some wierd interconnect and introducing latency somewhere..
@@Greez1337 Intel? Are you now on socials bashing AMD?
These chips aren't even out yet.
We can't yet know the extent of the 'issues' you're claiming. Especially with the architectural changes made with Zen 5.
Felt like a Zen 4+ to me. Definitely will hold off if I use Zen 4
With a relatively low increase in performance for individual-based applications (games, 7zip, FLAC compression, etc) the point I appreciate most is increased I/O quantity/quality but even that seems to be a minimal update, without any revolutions in price to performance either to generate any value. Probably gonna be another disappointing year for AMD financially I would guess, unless their next CDNA is a big improvement.
Definitely Arrow Lake will be faster and more interesting than this
I doubt they will increase the price, the 7000 series didn't sell as good as the 5000 did, the 7800x 3d sold decent, everything else not much.
When the 7800X3D launched, everyone else were on intel already and there was no need to switch to AMD platform. But this time, right now the regullar X cpus performs slightly better in-game than intel flagshit 14900KS and there are no X3D models yet so... i don't know dud but AMD will win a race this year as he won last year also.
@@samohraje2433 amd milks the market just like intel did before zen. they gonna milk the market with 0-10% "gains" as Intel tought with 14nm++++++. there's no competition, they just match performance to the rest of the market. and with qualcomm failing to deliver any progress with their snapdragon-nuvia chips amd/intel don't have to make any progress at all.
7800x3D sold decent?
Hasnt that been like the best selling CPU for the last few months?
@CrystronHalq i don't know exactly how well it did, i just know it did decent, if it did as well as you say its even better
like anybody is buying new CPUs when there's 0 noticable difference between 5000 and 7000 and now 9000 with GPUs people can actually afford.
I'm guessing this is more like the ryzen 5 1600 to ryzen 5 2600
Glad I bought a b650e I can’t see much of a difference to x870e other than memory and usb4
Not touching it till we verify that we have a way to hard disable the AI demoncores.
"the AI demoncores" lol, you made my day, bro, have a nice week
5.7 GHz boost but no base clock mentioned? So thats 200 MHz more than 7950x and some engery savings. The pricing for 7950x will be around 400 and thats the deal to get for productvity. Or get a 5950x for 270
i have 7800x3d with Aorus x670e pro x mobo. its good but if intel arrow lake is better i switch back imediatelly
As muxh as I'd like to enjoy a new platform and cpu I'm probably sticking to AM4 for a while
I am not really excited. 😮
As always, it's foolish to pay the early adopter tax... those who will pay it, likely know they're paying it.
Why would i switch, my r5 5600g can get 5ghz overclocked had to undervolt it
They did not mention any 9800 so I'm waiting for the 9900X3D
gains look standard, a x3d variant should start to be standard though if they want gamers. Extending the life of am4 and am5 are great compared to the competition
AM5 does not offer enough pci-e physical lanes
So unless you're keen to emulate PS3, seems like a slight refinement over previous gen.
2:02 That keyboard is seriously limping.
They have not added avx 512 they have just improve it.
I love that AMD continues to refine and improve, but I'm not all that excited about 9000 series. Judgment is being withheld until the x3D parts become available, and more importantly, at what price. I have a hunch that AMD is taking over from Intel in terms of trying to price themselves in premium territory.
Competition is certainly excellent with CPUs; praying for this to come to the GPU market someday too.
AMD is not dumb. The new AM4 parts are being released to promote the longevity of am 5. Freaking love the to see it!. Unfortunately I got in on AM4 with a 5600x so I don't have enough of an upgrade path but I bought a cheap a$$ b450 board so I'm not to sad about it. It's getting to be that time again and I am amped to get on am5 earlier on so I can get a huge upgrade later on. I suppose it is worth it to get a decent Mobo this time. Maybe get a 7600f to hold me over for a couple years for the zen6x3d BEAST! That will last me another 5 years. All hail AMD!
Never thought I'd be first to comment in a Tech Yes video lol.
Cheers brother. Hope you enjoy the coverage.
This is why I'm still on AM4, I was able to go from a 1200 to 3600 to 5700x (although I did recently swap out the original board for a B550 as the grandson's PC died so I passed him the A320) and from 16Gb to 64GB dirt cheap, this IMHO still makes AM4 a budget baller for 1440p gaming and I figure by the time games need more than 8c/16t that AM6 and DDR -6 will be out so I can just skip a generation.
you get it. also there's no fast enough affordable GPUs to actually need any CPU faster than 5700x/3d, or any GPU for that matter. even the 4090 can't deliver more than 52 fps in alan wake 2 @1440p without upscale or fake frames
@@rawdez_ Yup everyone forgets with gaming you only need a CPU that is fast enough to not bottleneck the GPU and my 5700X non 3D (which I paid just $150 for on sale) is more than fast enough to not cause bottlenecks at 1440p and with 64GB of RAM I am able to load HD maps into RAM for super-fast load times.
Perfect time to save hundreds of $ and get on the am5 platform with the 7000 series.
Looks like I'll be holding out unto my 5800X3D until 9800X3D comes out.
Roughly looking at it, the non X3D 9000 chips may perform similar to 7800X3D equivalent.
Similar story was in the last gen. Non 3d parts preformed like 3d parts from previous gen.

wait for the 9950x3D or 9800x3D :)
5800XT seems an odd thing to release, considering he 5700X already replaced the 5800X
that "uplift" is laughable, just milking the market just like intel always does (e.g. 14nm+++++++, 12-14gen). rumors were about +50% before it turned out that snapdragon-nuvia has nothing really to show because qualcomm is also just price-performance matched the market to milk it despite being able to do +400% compared to zen4 according to nuvia. so amd just matched intel and called it a day.
Can also please address creators or those who will be doing some work with their PC instead of just playing games .
💯💯
All the results were 'up to'. We have no idea what the averages are.
it sucks. also intel can run way faster memory than 6000 as tested and its actually gets faster. 9000 exists just to make 7000 that didn't sold look good.
but you don't need even 7000 because there's no fast enough affordable GPUs on the market.
No NPU in Ryzen 9000
"bay" is that Aussie slang?
I'm assuming that the 9700X3D will cost around the same as the 7800X3D with 15% performance uplift which is still great. So the AVG performance against intel will be huge. Also getting it for 100 dollars cheaper with 25% better performance... BIG W FOR AMD and BIG L FOR INTEL
And i'm also waiting for G models to come... 780m was already a beast, what to be expected from 880m? LOL, gtx 1070Ti performance inside the one chip?
I can just get AI to play my games for me sorted! don’t even need to game anymore! Same story big company’s chasing the dollar….
Good news that they're still supporting AM4, I'm still on that platform.
there's 0 reasons to upgrade to am5 with these laughable "progress" numbers. it was supposed to be +50% to compete with snapdragon-nuvia but qualcomm failed to deliver. so amd cut it down to +10% miniscule gains. 14nm+++++++++ now from amd.
also 0 reasons to get these "new" am4 cpus with 5700x3d for 150 bucks
The only difference is on IPC, that it is around 10%... very disappointing, I mean what it is this? Intel? No core count increase, no clock speed increase... also there was no pricing....Hopefully zen6 launch something good otherwise the investment in the am5 platform was not worthy
100% true. and all techshills are silent about all that.
amd is milking the market keeping performance on par with intel to not compete and keep prices on older CPUs high. no progress = no price drops. classic 14nm+++++++ stuff.
@@rawdez_ they are well paid by AMD... they make their lives about receiving free samples so...
Yeah but new Ryzen support ddr5-8000 same so
seems my 7950X is still good enough.
going for a 9600x. Wanted to go 9700x but wow they did bugger all to the l3 cache again. I'm pretty much just a gamer and there's no point in the 8 core if resell value isn't great.. especially when zen 6 comes, to which I'll then get the 16 core x3d on that one
Why buy something thay will perform worse than a 7800X3D later?
there's no reason to get any 9000 cpus and amd did that on purpose to make 7000 look good. in fact there's no need for 7000 cpus if you're already on am4 because 5700x/3d is like all you need for any GPUs that is actually affordable, and even for 4090 with realistic settings its enough.
on am5 just 7500f makes any sense for gamers for less than 100 bucks. you simply don't need anything better
@@Greez1337 it'll cost two thirds the amount and it performs better in games that don't use the extra 3d v cache which is a lot. did you even read my second part of are you too hung up last gens x3d chip?
@@rawdez_ nope, I like 240 fps
laughs in 5800x3d, top end of am4
Here we go with the stagnation again. Why aren't the core counts going up? Why haven't we been introduced to their single 16 core 32 thread CCX yet? That's the reason the 7950X3D wasn't what it should have been. I heard a rumor that a couple of Zen 4 based AM4 chips are coming out. 16 cores, 32 Threads and 12 cores 24 threads. Anyone know if that is true?
Edit: While I'm at it, what's up with quad channel for consumer?
Because core count is actually irrelevant. IPC is what's important. Hardware Unboxed did a video on this recently.
I'd like to see a core count increase as well just so I don't have to spend that threadripper tier pricing lol
zen 6 will have it all on one ccx, this was leaked some time ago. the 9600x is the ideal to buy for gamers this gen
Who is actually asking for those core count increases? Looking at amazon etc the best selling models are all 6 or 8 core. And it's the same with Intel.
Quad channel is not coming. I foresee the DIMM's themselves being more parallelized rather than introducing more channels. Especially as DDR5 capacity keeps increasing and four DIMM slots on a motherboard is becoming more and more meaningless as it's now possible to achieve 96GBB with two slots and soon 128GB.
They are CCD, not CCX.
What about new and motherboards
And then there's me who just got a 5600x build thinking it's the coolest thing ever 😂 😭.
naw bro shoulda went am5 board 😭😭😭
my 5900x recently died.
Got a replacement, same one.
There is absolutely no need to go to gen 5 instead of am4.
like fucking none.
Even if you have money to burn, you're just insulting yourself during the purchase process.
So Zen 5 is on par with 14th gen with better memory speed for games? Lackluster, AMD is clearly milking its fan base for its AI side of its business like nVidia,
Meh, ill save $699 this year, my 7950X is still more than enough for me, i domt even game much these days!
avx 512 users looking to buy up the zen 5 consumer
they all already have threadrippers
Cmon Men! Where is the gpu news!? No hints nothing…
AMD is always overly optimistic on price on release. They will be worse now since Intel is stuffed. Definitely wait. Nothing corrects prices like stagnant inventory. The early adopters will rush out and get hosed. Let them.
All AMD consumer products get a price drop a few months after it releases anyway. Never buy on release.
7800X3D actually scales quite well with mem speed over 6000 notable increases at 7800mhz
Ryzen 9000 ain't nothing impressive in my opinion. Infact it's underwhelming.
It's essentially a tiny bit faster than Intel's 14th gen while being more efficient.
Just look at those gaming charts.
AMD claims the 9950x is 3% faster than the 14900k in borderlands 3.
That means in reality it's probably more like 2.5~ faster and they rounded up.
The 7800x3d is a whopping
13% faster than the 14900K in that game!
The 9950x is 12% faster than the 14900K in cyberpunk 2077.
The 7800x3d is approximately 20% faster!
In short, the 7800x3d is quite a bit ahead of the 9950x according to AMD.
The X3D parts are going to be interesting, but the normal parts are probably going to be slower than Intel's new gen.
So we'll be in the same spot as we are now where the 9800x3d will be the only CPU that makes sense in AMD's whole line up. Once Intel catches up with their own version of 3D v cache AMD has no more tricks up it's sleeves.
First let Intel catch up and then we’ll see. You never know what tricks a company has up its sleeve. Competition is good for us consumers
It's only underwhelming when you simply look at clock speeds and core counts. But the architecture has been improved once again. So even with no clock speed advantage the 9000 series almost catches up to 7000 X3D variants. Depends on the game. Games that massively benefit from the cache still maintain their edge on X3D chips. And 9000 X3D willl likely beat anything Intel has planned. HUB recently did a video about cache benefit on Intel and concluded that Intel still relies heavily on clock speeds. Bolting on 64MB of additional L3 cache does not make Intel suddenly faster.
@@Raivo_K exactly architecture matters. Clock speeds are not the only metric in calculating performance. A lot of people think that clock speed increase is the only metric for a CPU performance
All the results are 'up to'.
@@Raivo_K I am not talking about clockspeeds. But yeah Ryzen 9000 doesn't really improve clockspeeds nor does it increase core count which is long overdue. Pair those facts with the current estimates of a small single core performance jump and you have a pretty underwhelming new generation.
The 7600x matches on average the 5800x3d, yet you're claiming the 9950x being close to the 7800x3d as some sort of an achievement.
Sure, the 9800x3d will probably be faster than whatever Intel has, but it will lose hard in anything non gaming related, and the gaming gap might not be as big.
mb
pricing will be same as with 7000 ryzen at beggining or bit cheaper so 279-299$ msrp for 9600x
