Favorite Prince era is definitely mid 80s (85-87). This is when he started the legendary Dream Factory and Crystal Ball recording sessions. Some of the songs ended up on Sign ☮️ the Times
I think I agree. Although I have yet to hear the full sign o the Times album. But my favorite singles come from that era so I know I’m gonna like it! I can’t wait!
Another great video! Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling good, but glad to see you're doing better! I love both of these songs and I am glad you are watching the music videos too! I am always impressed with Prince's vocal range in, "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" The way he can sing so high, but then, break the song down and sing so low that it almost doesn't sound like him at all. It's crazy! As far as a favorite era of Prince, I don't think I've heard enough of all of his eras to pick a favorite. I recently read a story about Prince recording the song, "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" and I wanted to share it with you. Basically, there is a harp track on the song and Prince did not know how to play the harp, so he brought in a professional harp player to play the track, but, for whatever reason, she could not play it the way that Prince envisioned. So, he thanked her and sent her away. As soon as she left, Prince turned to his staff and said, "Well, I still need a harp." So, his staff ordered a harp from a local music store and had it delivered to the studio. When it arrived, Prince opened the box, took the harp out and took it into the studio with him. According to his staff that was there that night, he fiddled around with the harp for about 5 minutes, then pressed the record button and played the entire harp track, in one take, by himself. He had never picked up the harp before that moment. That just shows you how musically talented he was! Incredible! Great video again!
Wow what a great story! I love stories like that! It was just so talented never be another one like him. Harp is a really difficult instrument to master to. I totally appreciate the kind words. I am feeling a lot better. And thanks I’m so glad you liked the video
Stay strong my young friend! You've got skills, vision, smarts, music video, writing, comedy, production, screen presence. That qualifies you as a Renaissance women!. Gotta believe good things to come. Would like to hear more of your music.
Thank you Io! You're a great personality. I got hooked on you Kate Bush videos ( I'm a massive fan of hers and still hadn't heard the songs you showcased) and was delighted to see you cover Prince too. You have great natural insights and I love the work you put into making these videos entertaining. Keep going, I think it's clear that you will be able to make this your full time thing before you know it. All the best, keep on keeping on, you're brightening a lot of people's day! Btw, it has to be eighties Prince for me, complete with all the spin off acts like the Time, Wendy and Lisa and Sheila E. Golden days!
Wow….Thank you that’s very kind of you. I do try to make it entertaining lol . There will definitely be more Kate Bush videos coming up. I’m so glad I settled on Prince and Kate Bush as my two deep dives! Two of the most talented people ever to have lived! Yeah 80s prince is my favorite too. Although I’ve gotten a lot of new respect for late era Prince and How he continued to push the envelope. It’s slowly becoming my second favorite era!
Thank you! And there really is a lot to love. I look forward to hearing even the not as great albums Because it seems like there’s some rare gems on those albums!
@@popcornphilosopher I personally like a lot of the album cuts more then the singles on a lot of the 90's 00's 20's albums. Plenty to discover and love. Enjoy the journey!!! Future Soul Song!!!
Hi...Love watching your videos..especially the Prince ones as I have been a huge fan for nearly 40 years now...Hope you are feeling better...Music always makes me feel better....Keep up the good work and take care 💜
Yes music makes me feel better to. Especially Prince music! I was already feeling a little better by the end of the video. Thanks so much for watching!
I'm so happy you are here creating good vibes. You touched me with your opening statement. I have both of these albums. In fact I did a tribute on my Channel of The Dirty Mind album. Great album. Uptown the opening is so good. Like the way you was jamming to it.
Depression is a common thread in the purple (fam) in my experience, so ya in good company I would say, I for one very much look forward to your videos, the work you put into them shows ,take care of yourself now .
Great reaction:) I know what you mean about TMBGITW. I was kind of luke warm about it too until I saw him do it live during his "The Jam of the Year" tour. He's so sexy anyway, but the way he sang that song.....WOW. It completely changed my mind and it's now one of my favs:)
Uptown is my favorite from Dirty Mind. That rhythm section is insanely tight. He recorded this album in his house to save money. That's why it sounds that way
His falsetto sounds stronger because of the way it was recorded. Better techniques engineering wise. Love both eras. People loved the Purple Rain album so much they couldn't let it go. That's my analogy on that. His music evolved.
Sorry I thought I replied to this! 80’s was still my favorite Prince period. But I have a new found respect for his most recent era after a lot of you guys have suggested some really great songs! I really look forward to getting to his more recent music
I don't really have a favorite period. I do think his last 5 or 6 albums are really good and quite underrated among Prince fans. Oddly, I Prince got sued for plagiarising the melody of "The Most Beautifl Girl in the World" from Italian artists Bruno Bergonzi and Michele Vicino. Their song in question is entitled "Takin' Me To Paradise". You can listen to it here: ruclips.net/video/GJ_ANfb3WyE/видео.html There is a tiny bit to their chorus that sounds like TMBGITW but overall the songs are vastly different. I doubt Prince actually ever even heard their song.
Someone mentioned the lawsuit. But I never heard thr actua; song. Thanks for sharing it. Yeah chorus so vaguely sounds like it. The vocal rhythm isn’t even the same. Definitely a stretch! that intros long too at first, I thought it was instrumental.
Nice to see a channel that covers Prince and Kate Bush, my two fav artists with Adam Ant! I'm team 80s Prince, sure there's cream and thieves in the temple... but the sound design on songs of past the 80s lacks something... lovesexy was the start of the decline (lovesexy however has grown on me so much lately! it's a great exemple of how the sounds were weaker but Prince remained able to create a whole album of compelling songs... and he kinda proved his point that rhythm (what i think prince was mainly about) can be as important as good sound design ('Dance On' is this pushed to an extreme but if you ask me, the keys on the chorus still sound so cheap lmao). The only thing not sounding cheap on this album is Prince's voice and some funky sampling here and there. But yeah after that, I would say I'm still down with Batman's sound design but then I start to miss either the synth Prince or the minimalistic Prince. A good example of the change is the song 'New Power Generation' on Graffiti Bridge, when we take a listen at the demo in 1999 deluxe, 'Bold Generation'. You kind of feel let down by the more modern production on 'New Power Generation' and a lot of songs past Batman feel like if they were produced 5 or 10 years earlier they would have sounded amazing. I might be biased though, cause I love the 80s and generally like less the post-80s era of most of my fav artists (Michael Jackson is kind of the only one I stayed 100% behind with his 90s production choices). Before the 90s, I feel like Prince albums rarely had more than 1 or 2 songs I would skip, which i can't say of his album past 1989. Production-wise, not a lot of songs come to mind as sounding perfect past 1989, I can only think of a few bunch like 'Sexy MF', the 'Come' album, the outtakes 'Allegiance' and 'Melody Cool'; Cream, Diamonds and Pearls and Thieves in the Temple would have sounded amazing with 80s Prince production skills and if the Question of U had been recorded in the 80s, oh my gosh 🔥
I agree Prince 80’s era is probably my favorite era. But, some subscribers have suggested some great really late era 2010’s songs like “future soul song”, stare and a few others. I know it’s probably hit and miss but I am looking forward to getting to the albums as I’ve appreciated what I’ve heard so far.

If you showed any soft tendencies. They would come for you. So as an artist myself. Prince was mentor unbeknownst to him for many youths who were outliers.
