    Prince had an amazing falsetto. He could screech like few others without ever damaging his voice. Check out his amazing vocal gymnastics on International Lover from the 1999 album.

    Nona Gaye, Marvin’s daughter is in the video. He was dating Nona at the same time as others including his future wife Mayte Garcia. It’s apparently about Mayte. Vanessa Marcil (actress and friend) is in it too. The lady in the video with the kid/giving birth is a friend of his. The other women he had put a newspaper ad in different cities around the world to audition for it. I like Michael Jackson but love Prince. Prince could do everything Michael could and more. Michael was more commercial. Prince was considered a “bad boy”. He also did music he wanted to and wasn’t all about making hits even though he had a lot of them.

    Great reaction guys! One thing that you will never have to wonder about with future reactions: Prince wrote and produced all of his own stuff.

    This song came out in 1994 and was said to have been written for Mayte. She danced in his band and married him a few years later. I’m still suggesting that you check out live Prince performances. They are a different level. I really think you’d enjoy his performance of “Baby I’m a Star / Push” from the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics. Tons of energy and fun. ruclips.net/video/UlcF-OnO9_Y/видео.htmlsi=drkDDUyRIGHqxv5T

    There are 7 different versions of this song . Only Prince knows who or why he wrote the songs , but it wasn't for Mayte. The reason I know is because i was in this video. Was shot at Paisley Park in January of 94
    and premiered at a party at Paisley in Feb 94. #peaceandstaywild

    This was a solo release from Prince on Bellmark Records (distribution). It was also the first single to be credited to, and the first to be released independently of Warner Bros., as well as the first release of any kind from NPG Records. Warners kept insisting he was saturating the market, they were holding back albums, so he produced a song as a one-off to show them he really didn't need them. A wild success. There's so much to this release, a whole campaign.

    Michael Jackson was probably more commercially successful, but I think most people would agree that Prince was more influencial.

    • @ccjtv809
      @ccjtv809 8 месяцев назад +3

      I think most people would disagree. How many artists that run the industry today pointed to Michael as their number one influence beyoncé Chris Brown usher Trey Songz 's so so probably not accurate but Prince did inspire people like H.E.R in other artists that play instruments but not too many of the artists. Today play instruments so I think that's a pretty bad take. And keep in mind that without Prince I wouldn't have picked up an instrument. I play five instruments and all of them because of Prince and one of them because of Stevie Wonder, but I'm not blind to see that Michael's influence is stronger throughout the industry, not just success but influence

    • @ccjtv809
      @ccjtv809 8 месяцев назад +1

      You also seem to forget that Michael invented the short film style of music video and that all recording artists videos before were just videos of them singing and not actual full-on lines and dialogue and plot points. Michael did it first with thriller. Then 2 years later Prince made a full movie called purple rain which was a movie with the dope soundtrack that released as an album. So that's why I think them two are held in the highest of. Regards but you also got to remember Michael is not just music. Michael changed dance. Michael changed the way videos are made so when people just regard him to one thing it's disrespectful and princess is a phenomenal dancer but did not actually change dance

      @@ccjtv809 you meant "someone hired by MJ did some extended music videos": AKA John Landis and a generous budget. For so many MJ fans he invented the wheel, the phonograph and the toiled paper.
      But going back to the point, I find you are confusing things with bacon. Thriller is a short film from Nov 82 and Purple Rain is a movie from July 84. Sorry, I can't see the connections between both.
      I could say Michael copied some dance move (moonwalk) and have very good choreographers like Micheal Peters (Thriller), LaVelle Smith, Kenny Ortega, Vince Patterson... So he didn't "changed the dance".
      Prince changed the relations between artists and the record labels & the ownership of the works (his issues with Warner and the word "slave" on his cheek), the ways to deliver music (free with a newspaper or online) and he predicted what would happen with streaming platforms, he introduced innovation in the patterns used with drum machines and in music production; because yes, he also produced without the help of anyone else. All of these are facts you can check by yourself.
      Oh! Another one for Prince! As he said in a TV programme, when he went on stage there was no pre-recorded music and the microphone was always on.
      I believe I was not disrespectful, just true to the truth.

      @@ccjtv809 and btw, Prince influenced a lot of greater artists, like MILES DAVIS. Can you match that? And the greatest artist too shown respect and admiration for Prince: Stevie Wonder, Elton John, David Gilmour, Santana, The Stones, Patti LaBelle, Robert Plant, Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone, Chakka Khan...
      Freddy Mercury used to play live recordings of Prince to their guests at home. On repeat!

    Look up Denise Williams who was Princes girl before making Purple Rain. (1984) I think she was the love of his life that he lost. They were both young and volatile, so much going on in theirs lives at the time and both chasing success. She was considered one of the most beautiful woman at the time. I think this song was written about her but timelines don’t confirm, so others may not agree. Many women try to claim it was about them but Prince rarely said who songs were about but said his life is in his lyrics. Adore is another song he wrote after he met first met Denise. When you see her you will understand that he fell HARD.💜💜💜

    Prince & MJ are totally different. MJ was more influential to Pop Artists, Prince was more influential to Musicians. I.E. MJ creates Justin Bieber, Prince creates Bruno Mars. Prince is Kendrick, MJ is Drake. All just as equally as influential just in different forms. I'm more of a Prince fan personally, i'm 21 years old idc about the rivalry between the two lol

    • @ccjtv809
      @ccjtv809 8 месяцев назад

      You forgot to bring up the fact that Kendrick said that Michael Jackson had the biggest influence on him and that's why when he performs, he wears black suit and one glove. But I do agree on the part where you said Prince influenced more musicians than artists that don't play instruments. Also, I would like to remind you that Bruno Mars is equal part Prince as he is Michael and he stated that fact that both of them have had an equal impact on him and his style of showmanship

    • @zazagirl3373

      @@ccjtv809 Yes but two things can be right my friend 🤗Kendrick also brings up Prince way more in his lyrics than he does MJ. Mother i sober he mentions purple rain & he has numerous songs where he says "i'm Prince reborn" If you go on youtube you can even find kendrick and prince performing together at Prince's house & that day Kendrick said Prince gave him spooky advice on how to survive in the music business. So Kendrick & Prince have a personal relationship & i do think overall Prince creates way more interesting artists than MJ. MJ=Bieber, Drake, Chris Brown, Usher. Prince=Janelle Monae, Kimbra, FKA TWIGS, Willow Smith. Just way more musically interesting imo. MJ is genius in simplicity, Prince is Genius in complexity. Two Greats with totally different approaches ot music🤗

    MJ and Prince were both megastars. MJ was a pop icon and a great singer. Prince was a great guitarist, a great singer, a great performer, a great producer, a great band leader, a very talented multiinstumentalist, a fashin icon, a HUGE artist overall. MJ is a pop singer, Prince cannot be categorised, he is so unique.

    • @leeharrison8222

      Long time Prince fan here… I must add that MJ was also an amazing dancer and performer. And I think Mike was very influential for really stepping up the incorporation of dance elements in and throughout music videos and concert performances. His mega hit Billie Jean in the early 80s was probably the first dance music video hit on MTV, which had become wildly popular and influential in the early 80s. There are artists to this day like Chris Brown, and Ciara and others who are still paying homage to Mike’s iconic dance moves and physical stage presence that he was so well known for.
      Once I see a hip-hop video today, which more often than not includes background dancers, I see that as an evolution of what MJ set into motion back in the very early 80s.
      Prince’s influence was more in that he was such a tremendously prolific songwriter that his unique “Prince” sound was all over the radio for most of the 80s and into the early 90s Like literally every year there were popular hit songs on the radio and the three music video cable channels (MTV, BET, and VH1) that Prince either wrote and performed himself, or wrote (sometimes under a pseudonym i.e. ghost writing) and gave to another artist who had a hit with it.
      Both Prince and Mike were and are absolute legends. They were so on fire in the 80s that they both were instrumental in smashing the glass ceiling at MTV That was politely barring entry by Black music artists at that time.

    Both great, but I think Prince always felt more personal, down to earth, could play at a club or the Super Bowl half time show. Filled both. MJ always felt more dustant, like a mega production/product out of reach how ever many "I love you" he'd say.
    But - both great, but different.
