I just recently lost my dad at 22 years old a few weeks ago, and I just want to say thank you so much for making these type of videos for the ones who no longer have or never had a father figure.
This amazing dad was abandoned by his own dad, so he knows how it feels to not have that figure in your life. How special is he for doing this for everyone?!
I lost both of my parents 6 months ago. Once I became a single mom, my dad took care of things like this around my house and now I’m left trying to figure all of these things out myself. Thank you for standing in the gap ❤️
You are so awesome for making these videos. My daughters dad has decided he didn't want to be in her life for the passed 12 years of her life. And she has no father figure. I myself don't know how to do or teach her a lot of this stuff. So thank you SO MUCH for taking your time to help so many kids! Much respect 🙏
this video inspired me to fix the hole thats been in our hallway wall for roughly a year and a half, primarily it wasn't fixed because of money and nobody really knowing how. I finally saw this channel and what you do for people and I decided now is the time to go and fix it. 3-4 hours later and a lot of second-guessing later and I'm at the spackle stage. *currently* waiting for the spackle to dry. sanding and paint come next, wish me luck!
Just to add a tip - when using the plywood as a backer for the big hole, drill a screw partway in through the middle of it. It will give you an easy way to hold on to the plywood if you don't want to jam your hands back behind it (or if the hole isn't big enough to do so). Once you get the screws in to hold the plywood in place, just remove the handle screw. Great video!
Just wanted you to know your brilliant. My dad was not a nice man and I missed out on a lot of life skills. I ve stumbled through life to scared to admit that to people and ask for help. It's weird but I am now 42 and finding your channel has really helped me with things and helped me lots Thank you so much your thoughtfulness in doing this is changing people's lives
As a person who’s dad walked out on them at 2 years old I appreciate all of what you are doing. Yeah, I’ve had men that were kinda like father figures in my life but I never learned any life skills like this kind of stuff from them. That you for all your videos and jokes. ❤️❤️❤️
I'm scared to ask my dad how I do this type of thing because when I was a teenager I didn't know how to ask for help I still don't know how to ask for help
As a single mom raising boys, there were times I would have LOVED to have your help. I taught them tire changing, spackiling, etc, but I had no idea how to show them how to shave. They figured it out, thank goodness, but I wish they had had someone like you. Thank you for these videos. I am so grateful for what you're sharing. You're helping so many boys (and moms like me...)
I patched up a bunch of screw holes from the previous resident's tv mount this morning. It was really satisfying, and I am excited to sand and paint. Thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you man I’m boutta turn 20 tomorrow that’s 20 years learning everything on my own ur channel is really helping me out ur doing something that no ones done for the kids, teenagers and young adults people like to clown on people with no dad like the person without a dad has a choice but I learned atleast when you grow up without a dad as a young man that you get to be the man you want to be instead of being the man your dad wants you to be so thank you it’s very appreciated
*Cut the plug first* Make it big enough to cover the hole. Then trace the plug onto the wall, around the hole, and cut on those lines. The plug will fit perfectly, at any shape, and you don't need to measure anything.
Hey dad, I noticed your hands are pretty shaky. I hope you are doing alright. My grandma used to have shaky hands due to her Parkinson’s. Miss her a lot and it kinda made me think of her. God bless the work you do. These are super helpful
I do a lot of patching of holes, nail holes, screw holes, sometimes unintentional holes in drywall so I'm familiar with the techniques that you used here. However, I had no idea that they made orange peel spray. Good stuff! It goes to show that all levels of expertise can learn from each other. Thank you and well done!
I’m usually terrible at patching drywall. It always comes out not being flush and it’s super aggravating. You explained it well and I actually have a home I’m going to try it on. Thank you Dad so much!
im so glad you posted this. my kid put a hole in our apartment wall.and ceiling. hoping i can do similarly on the ceiling. im regretting getting them that loft bed...
thank you dad!! I really appreciate you teaching me these things. I often feel so overwhelmed and scared, and learning these things helps me feel just a little bit more secure
It is very comforting isn’t it? Knowing this stranger cares about us and wants to give us his time. And I believe this man knows Jesus. So for all of your bigger issues you can still take dad’s advice and search out his dad Jesus. He’s changed my life, that’s for sure.
Sheetrock mud... For bigger holes, I would use a California patch. When you cut your patch piece, cut the piece larger than you need by like an inch each side. Then flip the patch piece over, and score the patch to size. Snap the patch from the back, and peel the gypsum off the paper front. You now have a patch, with a flap all the way around the hole to mud into place. Home Renovision DIY has a good video on it.
Thank you for explaining how to solve everyday issues in simple words! I live a thousand miles from you but your advices are still very usefull for me. Thank you for every video you've made!
As someone who's made more than a few holes in his time, I knew a lot of this, but using wood screwed into the wall is definitely a new and helpful tip. Just mesh on some bigger holes was always a pain.
My son is fatherless. His dad abandoned us when he was 7 yrs old. He’s 27 now. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with so many others. I am grateful.
Not sure if this is something I'll need anytime soon as drywalls in Greece aren't used in houses very much, almost never actually but new skills are always welcome!
My dad just passed this month and we were never close, he never taught me the things other people learned from their dads. i’m so grateful to this man for making these videos.
Dear Dad..............Thank you for this video, and all the others you have done. Try to post more when you can. We would love to see more of the projects on your kitchen. Doesn't have to be any lesson or advice....just seeing and hearing you would be so comforting to our aching hearts. And bring us such happiness and joy. We watch folks like Simply Living Alaska, and are just so happy to see them just living and doing things......I KNOW there must be many of your followers who would just LOVE to see YOU "Our DAD" going through life. Thank you so much for making such wholesome content like this. I haven't seen my biological father is almost 4 years and my stepdad isnt much of a father figure so thank you for helping me and others.
Thank goodness you posted this. I’ve been holding off from decorating my apartment the way I wanted because of the holes I’d leave behind. But now I don’t have to worry!!!
My dad passed away suddenly and unwxpectedly coming on 12 years ago. He taught me A LOT before he did and I have picked up a ton more skills on my own. However, I tear up when I think how great it would be to have him around and for him to show me how to do anything. Even if I already knew, I would just listen to him and smile. You are doing a great thing sir. Don't ever let anyone convince you otherwise.
I haven't seen a ton of your videos, and I've been able to figure a lot of stuff out on my own, but holy crap I'm so glad you make these! This is amazing! Please keep up the good work for all of us without a proper father figure! This one taught me stuff I didn't know! You are the kind of person I can look up to. I was a single mom of a now 26 and 16 year old boys. Thank you for doing this, so many things I didn't teach them. I just sent them a link to your channel. Both my boys taught themselves how to play the guitar by watching youtube videos.

Hey, "Dad"...I just recently learned about your channel and your story. I was very fortunate to grow up with a father who was very handy when it came to home projects and also working on the car and I learned so much from him. But I am still also learning a great deal from you! For anybody on here who might not be sure, "Dad" has the goods! He is providing lots of free information that we can all use to repair and replace things ourselves, thereby saving lots of money and time. At the same time, KNOW your limitations and always consider "What is the worst that could happen?" if you make a mistake with something. If you aren't sure or the risk is higher than you are comfortable with...know when to call a friend and/or a professional.
This channel is something I didn't think I needed until I found it. It's not only very helpful but also makes me feel kinda like I found a missing piece of home. Idk if that made sense but that's the only way I can explain it
My cousin when he was really young threw darts at the wall and when he realized that he made little holes he filled them with toothpaste. You can still see where he filled the holes in.
You are an amazing man to do this for others! Thankfully my husband has taught our (now adult) daughters to do many things and what he hasn’t taught them they have become pretty self sufficient in finding the answers BUT I guarantee I am about to change their lives by sharing your channel with them and as many others I can think of! My dad passed away suddenly when I was 15, we were all girls left in the house. Now I live by my own and this is so helpful since my dogs chewed my garage walls.
all the times i've thought of patching drywall... the idea of screw holes being outside the area the patch was going to cover somehow never once occurred to me. thanks!

Ooooh, I'll keep this in mind for the small hole(s) in my bathroom wall. I had one of them filled in with caulk lol, probably not the best solution. Thanks Dad!
Im a new single mom and (along with my children) survivor of domestic violence. I came across this video while trying to figure out how to fix the damages my ex husband made to the property we rented together. My dad passed away 18 years ago, yet, I still miss him as if Ijust lost him recently; specially because I know that if he was still alive, we probably wouldnt've suffered like we did. I want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for giving so much to those of us that still need our dads❤️.
20 minutes ago I fell and hit my head and dented my wall lol. I didn't have a dad so the first thing I did was check to see if you had a video on this. Even if my real father won't come through, you always do. You're doing gods work my dude.
Thanks for everything you do. I haven’t seen my dad in to years and idk if I’ll ever see him again so thanks for teaching me the things he could have taught me.
Nice to see your beard again, I remember you saying you grew it just to surprise your son, but, I really enjoyed it! Tysm for the how-too's as well, and for filming them during your own remodel process 🌟😁👍
@@brittyn no problem. It's called Marshall town 8 in by 8 in self adhesive drywall patch. 1 costs 6.48 at my local store. You'll also need dry wall putty like has in the video. Any brand will do they have one that comes as a kit and it is pink while wet and drys white. That's about 20 but comes with the spackle tool and smaller patches I believe.
Just the video I need! The springy door stop thing broke in our bathroom so the twist lock on the door knob has made a hole.. Now I can fix it! Thanks!!
Thank you. My own father and I had a major falling out over my LGBTQ+ life and his refusal to use my legally changed name and refusal to acknowledge my sister's kid being gender fluid. I can't go to him for things like this. Plus now he's having health problems that are causing dementia. As a new homeowner, your videos are invaluable. Thanks, Internet Dad.
I learned a lot watching this video. I had seen the kits, but I had no idea how to do it. Luckily I haven't needed it over the years, but we have a rental property now, so I'm sure this will come in very handy. Thanks so much!
Your channel hits me in the feels. I "knew" my dad but he never taught me a thing and was never there for me. Love for all the kids with father wounds
I just recently lost my dad at 22 years old a few weeks ago, and I just want to say thank you so much for making these type of videos for the ones who no longer have or never had a father figure.

Ooooh, I'll keep this in mind for the small hole(s) in my bathroom wall. I had one of them filled in with caulk lol, probably not the best solution. Thanks Dad!
Thanks for this. My dad left when I was 12 and never learned a lot of these things.
I’m sorry you went through that Myriam, glad to be able to help 🙏🏻
20 minutes ago I fell and hit my head and dented my wall lol. I didn't have a dad so the first thing I did was check to see if you had a video on this.
Even if my real father won't come through, you always do. You're doing gods work my dude.
You're the best thank you! Prayers for your health and safety.
Thanks Dad! I had a fight with my biological father today so it was nice to see the update.
How do I fasten the vent covers so my kids don't "hide" things down there? Also, how to I fix a dented doorframe? Thank you!!
Thank you! I was quoted $300-$500 to fill a hole in my ceiling from my old light fixture that got removed. This doesn’t seem too hard.
They have patches at lowes for that it's maybe 20 bucks and it's easy peasy don't spend that, that's a high quote
@@wolfofyoutube474 thank you! I’m going to look for that.
Thanks!!
Just popped in to say you sir are a saint. May you continue to help those that need it. Absolute legend.
Wow, texture in a can - I had no idea! That's great
Being a kid who has never had a dad, this really helps 😭❤🙏
I literally just moved and had to fix a huge crack in the wall… so helpful thank you!
Thanks dad! 😊♥️🙌🏽
Now I know! 💡I’m excited to try, if I ever get a hole in the wall lol. Many blessings to you! 🙏🏽
just a tip, cut the peice you are going to fit first, trace around it, and then cut your hole out. that way you dont need to worry about trimming it.
Thank you dad, I had home projects and had no idea it was easy enough to do myself!
Thank you for this information. It is definitely going to help me with repairs to our drywall.
Thank you for this video. Please can you do one on how to use a generator to power part of your home?
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
I learned a lot watching this video. I had seen the kits, but I had no idea how to do it. Luckily I haven't needed it over the years, but we have a rental property now, so I'm sure this will come in very handy. Thanks so much!
...and watch out for electrical wiring or plumbing when you're cutting through drywall. ;)
