THANKS SO MUCH FOR WATCHING!
Canon brought the nifty fifty to the RF mount. Good job Canon!
Happy dance 💃🏻
No joke! Been adapting my EF 50mm but this is going to be great!
@@dadknowsbest3329 Without a doubt. When I go on vacation, I like to do portraits and don't want to haul around my 2lb Sigma Art 50mm 1.4. I will gladly purchase this lens as a general walk around 50, but am expecting it to shine on portraits as well.
Vanessa you are out here grinding! Great video
You know me 😉 thanks so much!!
Vanessa's fingerprint at 0:44! 😍🤣
Nice lenses though. Way to go Canon!
I like the closer distance focusing improvements. That’s super helpful for up close portraits!
Canon is killing it with RF. Very nice video Vanessa!
Well done, Vanessa Joy 💖
Nice! Can't wait to test it out against the EF version. Can't wait for more from RF lens like the 50mm f1.4, 70-300mm, 135mm f2, 20mm f1.8, 16-35mm f4, 35mm f1.4 🙏
RF 14-35 f/4
Thank you. Just placed my pre-order for the RF 50mm. :)
I have both. Great lenses.
I have both of these lenses and hoping I can use them properly for a small indoor event I was asked to shoot. I'm comfortable using the F4's outdoors but not so much inside. Thanks Vanessa.
Does the RF 50 1.8 focus any faster or more accurately than the EF version?
This may well be my first RF lens .
Hi 😀
I'm considering purchasing the 70-200 f/4 lens. I shoot at events, sometimes in conference rooms where it is darker. Do you think it will perform well in such conditions? I can boost the ISO and use a flash. This would be my second lens, the first being the 24-70 f/2.8. I work with the Canon R6 II.
I like your review. I watched the review of the 2.8 too. which one do you prefer and can reccomend? considering it s a lens that a photographer will keep for long time and in different situation
To dial in your white balance on the fly is genius. Thanks for the presentation!
I love this channel
0:45 Lovely finger print on the middle of the lens
Fantastic video, looking forward to adding both lens to my arsenal. And of course you are looking stunning as always 🥰😍
Aw thanks 😊 I’ll tell Johanna you said so 😉
Vanessa Joy 😉📸📷
Yes!! Finally!! Nifty 50!!
Yayyyy
I noticed the RF 70-200 f/4 does not have a tripod mount. Will that create a top-heavy situation when the camera body (say an R6) is attached directly to a tripod? I also wondered if you have any concerns about the lens's long term reliability as regards the weather sealing (even though it is an L-series) given it has an extendable barrel vs a sealed barrel like the EF version. Also noticed it seems to take a few more twists to fully extend to 200. Did you shoot any sports or fast action and did that extra needed movement cause you to miss a shot?
Really, really can’t wait to get my hands on both of these! ❤️ great video, thanks.
The 70 -200d f4 is the one to have as it is the most versatile.
Love these 2 lenses!
Same!’n
I have both these lenses. They’re amazing?
really great video straight to the point
IBIS on the R5 and R6 with 70-200 f4 with IS. 👍
Thanks Vanessa....Great reviews! Alan
When does it release???? Can’t wait to get my hands on one
Which one?
50mm
having used both rf 70-200 f4 and f2.8 how does the f4 compare.
Can you use the new RF 70-200 2.8 on the canon m50?
How is the RF 70-200 f4 handling backlighting compared to the EF f2.8 version?
Excellent pictures, great skill
They're so cute I am getting the 50 1.8 but for the 70-200 I think I'll get the 2.8 since I shoot a lot in low light. Can't wait to pair with my R6.
they both look good but one key disadvantage over Nikon version (f2.8) cannot be used with their corresponding FF ML teleconvertors.
Thanks for the inter. for sure it is you who takes the pictures ut indeed at any moment does the back ground create distraction , as you said it is a smooth even background in your bokeh shots. For me these cameras and gear are still out budget, I will have to work hard and being successful as such in order to purchase this kind of quality equipment. For you and your family stay safe and healthy , here in the Uk we start with lock down tomorrow, see you/ hear you on one of your channels.
Hello and thank you for this video and your beautiful photos.
I have a Canon RP, and I really like the RF 50mm f1.8 for taking portraits. I find this lens great for taking pretty portraits, right ? On the other hand I hesitate to buy the RF 35 f1.8, I think it will be more versatile to also do the landscape, but in portraits I am not sure that it is better than the RF 50, what do you think ? you ?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Sincerely,
Philgood ...
Love this Video 👍
What exact reflector did you use ? Also great work
I love (and have) the EF 50mm. So tempting at that price.
Didn't know canon gonna come out with the RF 70-200 f4... Definitely gonna get both for my eos r...
Hi Vanessa great information !!!, I saw that Canon has 4 different RF-70-200mm lens, can you help us to know the pros & cons of each one and what should I purchase first if I have the Canon EOS Ra and I’m waiting to receive the R5.
I just purchased the R6 and the Canon Nifty 50 - Can you please explain the ring on the lense to me?? and the control focus button does...I don't shoot manual focus - so I hope I have my settings set up on this camera ok >>>
I want to RF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM lens.It was very very helpful!!
Vanessa, thanks for the update. Does the new 70-200 rf f 4 works with the 2x or 1.4 extenders?
Hi Vanessa,,, was that Seth M as your assistant,,, I especially loved the B/W shots
I have the 50mm. I’m pretty new to FF. Mine sure is noisy when using auto focus. Is this normal?
Yesssss thats my lens!!!!! Now i can sell my ef 50mm
Moving on up!
Great video! New subscriber ✌🏻
Thanks for the sub!
Very informative, thank you!
Is the image quality/optical performance better on this new RF 50mm than the previous EF version? I'd love to see a comparison on a non IBIS body like the Eos R.
I’ve used both. It is better and sharper
Very cool lenses - thank you for posting. Do I really need the EF 70-200Mk 2 F2.8 plus the adapter or can I survive with this tiny 70-200 F4 that can travel with me anywhere. Hhmmm
Upgrade ^__^
WOOOOHOOOOOO gonna buy this tomorrow lol
Yasssss
Still going to get the RF 50mm f/1.2L, but COVID has slowed things down too much this year, so I'm picking up this RF 50mm f/1.8 for now and I might get the 50mm f/1.2L next year.
BOOM! im going to buy all this lenses good review
My dogs perked up at the yellow fire hydrant in the studio. No pet sessions there!😂
How is the chromatic aberration on the 50mm ??
All of those shots are at 1.8 :) looking pretty good
@@VanessaJoy the EF version has a lot of chromatic aberration when shot backlit, I'm only buying this rf 50 if it is improved in that area
hello vanesa ! can you show me as you programing the ring of the lens?, thank you very much ! I have EOS R.
fallen in love with your shoot ma'am
I’m undecided on what lens to grab the F 2.8 70-200 or the F4. I already have the sigma 2.8. But my beef with this is sometimes I stop down to 2.8 accidentally and my subject at the front is in focus and the person just slightly back is well out of focus as would know (my bad).
I already have a sigma 85mm art lens and a sigma 24-105mm. Is it worth me just getting the canon RF F4 70-200.
If I had the canon 2.8 then I would have to sell my old sigma lens to budget. I have a canon R6 and the canon 5D Mark IV.
I have an adaptor to use my Sigma lens it is ridiculously heavy and having shoulder issue Plus with Canon.70-200 being lighter.
So F2.8 or F4…?
Hey Vanessa I'm back to bother you! LoL
I've been trying to upgrade to a FF camera and I often shoot cars at sports events and mainly shoot portraits. I currently have the 80D. I think the financially wise decision would be to get an EOS RP, because I would be getting full frame and I can work my way up and save for a R5/6 like camera in the future. But I don't want the RP 😭
I mainly want full frame but Mirrorless would be nice for the portaits. If you have time I'd love to hear what you think. 🙏🏿
Out of curiosity, why don’t you want the RP? I think it is a great camera for portraits. If you don’t want it because of the “sport events” comment then I totally get it.
RP is perfect for Portraits. Especially if you have a lens with stabilization.
Would the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens work with the Panasonic GH5
with the Viltrox Speedbooster?
I thought the new 50mm will come with IS dissappointed sticking with the EF Version
Why would it need to come with I.S.?
Is it wether sealed?
RF 50mm F1.8 STM photo quality were really good, but it is a huge advantage with IS build in the camera like EOS R6.
Finally picked up my RF50mm F1.8 a couple of days ago and had my first photo shoot today (yup x-mas day) - the headshots look great!
Does it workon DSLR camera?
The RF 70-200 f4 is really a nice addition to the RF lineup, but at $1600 US I think I'll be sticking to my EF version with the adaptor for now.
Think I am in love, with the nifty fifty RF
I just my RF 50 1.8 yesterday, but I was not impressed with focus. It is not sharp wide open and it even missed focus 9 out of 10 times...I tried face+tracking and tried both Servo and one shot and single focus. Even at 2.5 it missed. I then updated firmware to newest version and need to test it see if it will be better. I wonder if I got a lemon.
sounds bad 😅
Do you think this 50mm is good enough to be used for professional work ?
depends on the type of photography you do.
pro photography just means you are paid and you have a contract with the client.
anyone can use this lens.
if you are pro, buy/rent the lens and try it, don't ask internet.
Why are you worried about kelvin’s? You better be shooting RAW!!! 😮
Price of the 70-200??
$1,599.00
What if you just have a R? What about the image stabilization when not everyone has the money for the most expensive ones.
This a bit weird. The Canon video of the 70-200mm f4 tells me that this lens has internal focussing, yet this lens is extending when focussing. Confused.com ... :-(
Internal focusing, external zooming.
Why did they make it that old white color?
It’s a signature thing, and I think there’s actually a specific reason for it, lol but I don’t recall what it is
White color don't absorb sun heat like black lens, which help internals to not expand and affect mechanics/lens alignment for optimal performance
L telephoto lenses are white to reduce thermal shock and deformations when exposed to sunligth
To prevent heat uses with a black lens
@@klipschs its small enough that thats doesnt make a big difference.
0:44 the soft focus version, ha!
If I am hearing what you are saying - if you have the EF 50mm with an EF to RF converter (that has a control ring), there is no benefit to the RF 50mm. As for the f/4 70-200mm, it seems like it is right up Canon's wheelhouse to double the (MSRP) price of the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II for the RF mount. As an intermediate shooter on the EOS R, there are only three RF mount lenses that I would even consider getting, and two would only happen if I won the lottery. The 35mm f/1.8 is a pretty neat lens I have tried that is very light, however it is neither as sharp, or fast as my EF Sigma 40mm f/1.4, and far to close in zoom to justify buying. I found almost no difference in the RF 85mm f/2 from the EF 85mm f/1.8.
I wish you would have used that 50mm to shot some of the talking head with the lights in the background so we can check out the bokeh rendering and the sdf. I would have liked to see more video less pictures.
Seth be hustling!
now this is what canon should be doing this is innovative 👏🏽 & will open up the system for sure $200 for a lens after paying $2000 + just for a body is a great deal after paying for the body most of us hate buying lenses that are half the body cost after forking out thousands hopefully more budget friendly options will arrive
@Kalifay G maybe because some people used almost their entire budgets on the camera body and has very few left for the lenses (if any)
Love the compact size Canon of 70-200 F4 RF seems superb on paper and well addition to Canon RF line up but not happy that again a premium pro common lens (like F2.8 brother) you cannot use it with RF Teleconvertors.
If Nikon did this - they would be crucified by anti nikon brigade.
I have the 24-105 f4, so a 70-200 wouldn’t make much sense. Why buy a second lens that duplicates 1/3 of the focal lengths and only adds a mere 95mm on the long end? 200 is not nearly long enough for sports and even travel. I don’t know what Canon’s obsession is with this zoom range. What they need is an RF L100-300 f4. What’s wrong with them?
Canon RF 50mm 1.8 is amazing
Don't No why canon didn't release it sooner
Late is better than never 🙃
does anyone hear 15mm ?
50
Somebody got a big fingerprint on the 50mm 0.44 :)
That was the first thing I saw too!
INVEST!!!
Sharpness of RF 50mm f1.8 is super impressive, even at far from center. Shame for Nikon Z mount S lenses .
what are you talking about. The Nikon 50 f/1.8 S is sharp edge to edge and its built like a pro lens with weather sealing while this Canon RF 50 f/1.8 is not an 'L lens'. Its just a plastic nifty fifty meant for beginners/enthusiast and is not weather sealed. Compare the mtf resolution of both lenses and the Canon is not that sharp on the edges.
I like turtles
Great video...HORRIFIC background music..
RF 50mm f1.8 is techmologically higher specs than Z 50mm f1.8 S.
