Mine? French 75 any day! Simple and citrusy with a splash of gin!

FRENCH 75
The French 75 is a slight variation on a classic Tom Collins. Gin, citrus and sweetener but the key difference being a splash of Champagne to give it a spritz as opposed to a dash of sparkling water. Originally the French 75 called for a cognac but it is more commonly made with gin. A great citrusy, bubbly cocktail that I prefer to serve over ice in either a collins glass or wine glass.

CHAMBORD ROYALE
The Chambord Royale is a simple and tasty variation of a classic Kir Royale, substituting the sweet, rich Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur in place of creme de cassis. Chambord is made with a cognac base, red & black raspberries, Madagascan vanilla, honey and citrus - although the decadent liqueur's prominent flavour is black raspberry.

CLASSIC CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL
The Champagne Cocktail is one of the oldest cocktails, dating back to atleast the mid-1800s. The recipe is simple. A sugar cube soaked in aromatic bitters and Champagne. Of course the recipe has evolved ever so slightly and some like to add 10ml of Cognac or, my preference, Grand Marnier. It is one of the most well known Champagne cocktails. It's simple and elegant.

BLACK VELVET
The drink was first made by a bartender of Brooks's Club in London in 1861 to mourn the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's Prince Consort.

Queue comments about how my equal part pour of Guinness and Champagne was clearly not 50/50...... 😂
The chambord bottle looks really cool, I hardly ever see spherical bottles
I thought I would try the black velvet....... 🤔🤢
Maybe it would have tasted better if you had put in more than a shot worth of Moet! 🤣 It deserves a redo! 🍾🍺🥂
The Black Adder is the better version of the Black Velvet, 50/50 of Guinness and Cider, layer it and mix to drink.
The question then. Did you re-make this with an actual 50/50 pour of Guinness and Champagne? I think you need to do this again and re-taste it to see what you think!
Loving the out takes, definately add them in the next video
I add them when they're there :)
@@StevetheBartender_ weird flex, but ok. Just kidding, of course! But yeah, If there's one thing we're not short on, is the outtakes. Maybe some that are R-rated and don't make the cut haha :)
Bro, that ain't 50/50! Hahaha 😹😁
I know - wasn't even close!!
You can see he likes the beer more.. 😂
Also would waste a 50$ champagne on beer
Awesome video, I love champagne! I also really liked the Cognac version of a French 75, we mede it for Bastille Day! As for the Guiness, if you'll make beer cocktails (please to, it's an awesome concept) in the future, I'd love to hear your thought on the Stout Fashioned, a twist on an old fashioned with beer foam from the Guiness. The chocholate-coffee notes bring such an interesting dimension with a slight beer bitterness. See the beer cocktails episode ;)
Stouts in general are sorely underappreciated in my opinion, even among beer drinkers. Everybody's crazy for IPAs these days. Though, admittedly, there's limits to what you can do with the chocolatey flavor they bring to the table. Most of the time, that means some combination of whiskey and cream.
I'm loving this new series format. It's so relaxed and with director's cut bonuses.
I am a chef from germany and enjoy your videos for a long time. You inspire me every single time thanks for your awesome content Steve.
Steve, you're a gem. 3:00 never ceases to make me giggle, no matter how many times I share or re-watch. #garnishes
And the outtakes... wife's behind-the-cam comments are added joy. Thank you for the vids & the shaken grins. :)
Your compilation vids are awesome and outtakes had me snickering at the lunch table :) Keep up the awesome work!
J’ai deux amours, mon pays et Paris 🎶 Very good choice of music for the occasion! French 75 is my favorite cocktail !
I follow you from Iran where we can not enjoy going to the bar like you, but I make some of these drinks at home. Thank you for the good channel ♥️♥️
Thanks for being honest about the Black Velvet!
I love his honesty
Dude, the bloopers crack me up. Good stuff. Cheers.
"I want a bit more" - smart man listening to your wife's cheeky request Steve hahaha
Loving the multi-drink videos!!!
I made the French 75 and the bourbon variant French 95 recently and both were delicious. A nice light drink to welcome the couple of guests I was still allowed in these difficult times.
Thanks for the video! You had me dying laughing with the reaction to the Black Velvet.
I really enjoy this cocktails. Thanks 🍸
Absolutely love the bloopers as always. I have been seeing the black velvet cocktail more and more lately and it throws me off because I think of the Canadian Whiskey Black Velvet and that is what I am always expecting. Love the honesty I would have called bull if you said that drink was good lol
All are lovely. The only one I have not made a video for was the classic champagne cocktail.
I love the bloopers at the end, much fun and many laughs. I agree with you... Black Velvet...yuk lol
Love a good French 75. Hits you like a cannon, just like the namesake!
Some absolute classics here! Cheers mate
Drinking the French 75 right now. It tastes simply delicious!
The French 75 is my favorite cocktail in general, let alone favorite champagne cocktail.
Outtakes are a must.
I definitely love the compilation videos. The single drink videos are best when it's super unique and you want to show off a specific, special ingredient, but I love the compilation videos.
Also: If we can't have a Kat cam, at least give us a Kat mic!
I agree about Kat, it drives me crazy that I can barely hear her. She needs a mic! LOL
Guiness with Bailey's worked, great video. Good comedy. I'll repeat the 2 in the middle.
French 75 👌🏼 bloody TASTY!
"I've wasted a glass of Moet [...] as well as half a Guinness" 😂😂
Wonderful that you are back! Have a great day!
Where did I go? 🤔
@@StevetheBartender_ nah, you were there it's just that I wasn't able to watch your last video even though I saw the notification!
And today I was just super happy to see you! That's why!
I LOVE Black Velvets!
Black Velveteen is with hard cider
Watching this drinking French 75s! Happy new year!
No better way to do it if you ask me
STEVE!! Chambord royale is one of my favorites. Champagne cocktail with Grand marnier, I've got to try that. Guinness and cola, try it NOW!!!!!
Omg bro that was the best!! Lol Your reaction to the black velvet was priceless haha Bloopers were SO good!!! Keep the bloopers in 🙌🏼 great episode as always my man 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thanks mate.. such a bad drink although my 50/50 ratio was just a tad off 😂
@@StevetheBartender_ hahahaha nahhhh the reaction was totally worth it haha
Anytime mate 🤘🏼
Great to see Threefold Aromatic Gin on the back bar again. Woohoo!!!
Bring on the Bubbly! Thanks Steve
gotta get myself some champagne. Thanks for the link to the song.
Love the sound effects, lol.
Black velvet!!! A James Bond cocktail haha. Never thought before in that combinación. Guess I ll have to give it a shot anyway
lol that reaction on the Black Velvet was legendary
I guess there's multiple variations of black velvet? I've always known it as apple(or pear) cider with Guinness. Tho most places serve it as a snake bite(cider with lager).
Great video; I was really excited about the Guiness-Champagne one but after your taste description I am definetly less eager to try it now. hehe
I love sparkling wine so now if I open a bottle alone it will be way more fun. Cheers!
French 75 is a clear winner.... I was clearly drunk when trying to pour that 50/50 Guinness/Champagne because that wasn't even close!
@@StevetheBartender_ hahaha but on the other hand pouring the drinks down the drain, is neather a good option, so… sacrifices need to be done. Cheers! :@)
ive had the black velvet before... it is definitely worth trying. I enjoyed it. It is commonly made with sparkling cider as well (I think that makes it a black and tan, however)
@@BenL91 Thank you for the tip. I guess I will give it a try and see how it will turn out for me. :@) Cheers!
1:45 those drum's scared me, ngl
Honestly what was up with the drums lol wasn't a fan of it
@@kevinalpizar2335 I was thinking the same thing, literally not a clue why the drums kicked in
lovely
probably a wrong type of glass for the black velvet. usually done in a flute or tulip so the two split via their densities. love the show!
Fave champagne cocktail has to be the champoke (champagne and coke), give it a try!
The outtakes 😂😂😂
The French 75 is my personal favorite! Love a Bellini, as well, although I typically use Prosecco. There's definitely confusion in the US about what a Black Velvet actually consists of... It's often confused with the Snakebite.
wait... now I'm confused... is a Snakebite supposed to be made with lager or guinness?!
I don’t know why my brain works like this but now I feel like I HAVE to try a black velvet
Great video Steve ! One question, what is the capacity in ml of your Boston shaker ? I want to buy one but some of them are around 900ml and I believe maybe that’s to much lol
Give the black velvet another go! Use a flute and go *slightly* heavier on the champagne. Personally prefer it with the guinness layered on top. Think it's a lovely drink personally.
My favorite one is "Soir de Gala".... Champagne, Cointreau, blueberry liqueur..
Colour me interested. What blueberry liqueur do you like?
Great! Thank You Steve! Could I add more Chambord to Royale?
Beer and champagne.... nope
I agree with others on the outtakes...I like it
I never had the "classy" version with Guinness and Champagne (as a French loving Irish culture I should try it ^^), but I already had Guinness + Cider at a pub in my hometown, and it was great for me ^^ (maybe a lot sweeter/less dry than with champagne, but worked great)
The "poor mans" Black Velvet!
My dude I’ve had of a variant of black velvet that’s 50/50 Guinness and dry hard cider with a splash of black currant juice and THAT shit is delightful
Hey nice vid but what kind of bubbly do you recomend? We mostly have Cava Brut at home do you think that works fine or shoulf we invest in something else? A real Champagne might be too expensive xD
There is something so bizarre but so familiar about champagne and Guinness, I don't drink anymore but I watch these videos for ideas on what mocktails i can make, to an extent, I have replaced my cabinet of spirits (mostly empty bottles) for non alcoholic spirits and most of them I was disappointed with but there are a few good ones, mostly gins cause I was a big g&t guy, John ross, pentire adrift, seedlip spice 94 and some others, lyre american malt, white cane spirit and coffee originale. My favourite thing about being sober and drinking low to no ABV drinks is there is no shame in having a breakfast coffee stout or espresso Martini lol
I love me some Moët & Chandon!
Champagne Mojito: Muddle slice of lime and mint with 1/2 ounce of amber rum, couple drops of angostura bitters, add ice and top up with champagne.
Sounds delicious!
The disgusted, disappointed facial expressions was hilarious 😂
😂😂😂
haha you are too sweet:)) that even not 50/50 can be easely forgiven😂
I think this is the video we will need to celebrate the END of 2020 this year (one flight, or bottle of champagne, per person!) ! All great ones, well maybe have the last one as 2 seperate glasses 🤣🤣
Champagne cocktails: my mind went straight to mimosas, that's the only Champagne cocktail I know of.
Well now I know 4 more
5 more ...if you include Kir Royal as mentioned?
Me, watches all reactions to cocktails, hmm, guiness and champagne can't be good, instantly wants to try it 😅
Black velvet can work well if you use a stout with a little more umpf. Anything 8-15%
That's the only one on this list I haven't tried yet. Definitely giving it a go
Hey STEVE
Is that latest realase Mr. Black Ethiopia Singel Origin in the shelf on ur left on the top shelf. I’ve recently get to know about it and really planning to buy one. But is it really different from Mr. Black and it cost me more as compared to Mr. Black.
And, by the way, finally u add the other dehydrated lemon wheel. It was really funny watching it hahahah.
Really looking forward from hearing with you.
Keep going and keep them coming.
Love from India🇮🇳🙏🍾
I believe it is
Hi Steve happy new year
It looked to me that you had a lot more Guinness then champagne maybe if you measure them it could be better maybe?
I am happy it's not me that had to try this coktial black velvet
Nice :)
Love your videos, mate. I must confess I am too much of a cheapass to use Moet for these cocktails (with the possible exception of a Kir Royale)--at $50/bottle here in the States, that's something I drink by itself. I would use a decent California champagne style or French Cremant. I know they're technically not champagne, but still...
I feel you on that, I personally don't mix Moet with anything. I always go for an affordable sparkling white when making my Champagne cocktail. Using high quality champagne in a cocktail feels like sacrilege to me
I thought the Black Velvet was supposed to have the two ingredients layer instead of mixed.
You had me at Guinness...
Can someone tell me is it possible to substitute champagne with something in cocktails? I thought of prosecco but as i never tried real champagne i don't know the difference between them.
Guines is it black stout or irish beer ..here in phillipines i have a bar list black velvet . French 75 kirr royale and fashioned mimosa by the way im also worked here as a bartender.
You wasted a glass of Moët and half a Guinness so we don’t have to. We appreciate your sacrifice
😂
Would it be much of a downgrade if I subbed Cointreau for Grand Marnier in the improved version of Champagne Cocktail?
How would you fix the Black Velvet, Steve? Maybe a perry instead of champagne?
Pouring the Guinness down the drain instead of into the glass seems like a solid start.
I have mastered one drink and one drink only it is the champagne cocktail 🍹 you’re going about it the wrong way! Yes the sugar cube, bitters yes but you are missing one key ingredient! Cognac or brandy like kind have to stick together brandy and cognac are made of grapes so is champagne that’s why it pairs together perfectly! Everything else is true to form! 👌
I only recently learned of this version of the Champagne Cocktail. I like many people was taught the recipe without it, but I definitely like the addition of brandy to it👍
Have you ever done any NA cocktails or sampled any NA beer or wine?
Chambord royal also called Kir Imperial.
Thanks for the heads up - didn't know that :)
Every bartender needs to know how to make a champagne cocktail.
I’ve been to a few bars (in upscale places) and I’ve had to teach the bartenders how to make it. It’s a shame because it’s so easy to make.
Francisco Scaramanga approves this video.
Re : Black Velvet. I have seen people using sparkling cider instead of champers.
Bloody hell mate, with those ratios its bound to taste even worse. I couldn't imagine someone ordering this and I couldn't imagine someone drinking more than one
A shot of port in the rest of the Guinness will make up for the black velvet disaster.
What about a Halloween cocktail please!
To be honest. I would not call the drinks with just 2 ingredients “cocktails”. But rather mix drinks. Love the rest of the video’s!
Fair play!
Normally have guiness floated on cider for black velvet
No, black velvet is definitely champagne and Guinness
It's definitely Champagne :-)
I have never before been personally offended by a cocktail. 😂😂 Guinness is perfect on it's own doesn't need a cocktail, its especially sad as I can't even go out and get one atm. 😭
Guinness in a champagne glass will actually change your life!
Isn’t it actually called a Kir Imperiale (when made with Chambord in lieu of Creme De Cassis)
What was with the drumroll at 1:45?
Halloween is coming up.. Any ideas of Halloween cocktails or Halloween shots any ideas from your side.. Innovations for us.
isn't there supposed to be cognac in a classic champagne cocktail? I know he said there are variations but if toy completely take out a ingredients its way to different to be a variation for me atleast.
Ah yes, the Champagne Cocktail. The drink no one ever finishes at Rick's Cafę Americain.
Some things are better left unsaid.... Champagne and Guinness. What are they thinking...
“Full recipe? You don’t want to drink this” 😂 Perhaps a better suited name for “Black Velvet” would be “Mourning the Death”?
i think i put more champagne to my french 75.
Why am I watching this? I don't even drink or mix alcoholic beverages hahahaha
