More Highland Park with fancy packaging coming... would you like to see the fire or ice next?
After The Dark, my vote is for the Ice. So glad you reviewed this, I was curious as to what you thought. This is one of my favorite Highland Park offerings, they brought the funk in a good way
@@tall3431 yep, the dark was a nice little surprise after the light and oden/freya/ Loki.
Ice will be the next HP review!
@@topshelfwhisky Nooo - the Fire obviously. Because port! That should settle it, just port! ;D
Nice review - I did expect this to be a lot better than the light :)
@Top shelf whisky. How much better then the HP 18 OB do you like the HP OB? I am trying to decide between this one and the Bunnahabein 18 OB blue label. Or can you recommend somthing similar? Thank you for you’re everytime great vids. Cheers
More salty than what I prefer in my whisky…agree with Dustin wish it had more fruits
Great review guys. I just opened my bottle a few weeks ago and am excited to revisit it this week.
First thoughts?
Because of you, i am tempted by a Caol Ila 35 for my 40th bday next year. It's from 1982, my birth year
That is in my top 10 Islay’s of all time. Maybe top 5... I love the thought of birth year vintages. Im still pursuing Lagavulin 37 (1976)
One day, one day.
I'd say do it! That 35 is a serious whisky worthy of the price point.
@@topshelfdustin3060 thanks Dustin
Great review guys👍🏻
Thanks for watching
Timely review, this just showed up in a local store.
Wow, these have been out for a while. What’s the msrp?
@@topshelfwhisky In a control state (VA), and the initial allocation has been sold out for >1yr, but a new batch (clearing out the warehouses as things open up I guess) showed up about two weeks ago. $324 + tax so ~$343. Sounds like you would not recommend at that price, but given my limited access to better scotches without shipping from overseas the cost calculation is a bit different here, so thinking about it.
@@stuffforwork you can do worse for 343 even if I think that's a bit much if having something shipped in from europe is something you're comfortable with doing.
I have seen too many reviews saying this whisky reeks of struck match, and that has held me back as that is a deal breaker for me.
Maybe some but if it's not your thing I wouldn't take the chance with all the opinions out there.
I just picked up a bottle in Vancouver Canada for $430 after tax 🤯. What have I done!
Ha, what all whisky fans do...buy!
I have actually read a lot of reviews saying specifically that in head to heads the Dark competes with 25 year old....If true that would be awesome...Any thoughts?
Dark is a good whisky but not on the level of the 25… at least the 45.7/48.1/cask strength
@@topshelfwhisky Only question is if it is 3X as good as average prices for 25 now hit 900!=(....I can get Dark for 300 locally
@@royn8032 the new price of the 25 is ludicrous. That’s $450-550 whisky…. So I do agree with that.
