One things for sure, this is a punchy bourbon! It's a monster.

I loved it . I rated 92 :-)
Im just enjoying the 2nd day crack of Laphroaig Càirdeas 2024 and comparing to my Laphroaig Cask Strength Batch #012 as well. I must say this new Càirdeas 2024 is a special fine release just wish it was done at cask strength....cheers!
Well this sounds fantastic. FOMO engaged 😂
😃
My mouth is watering after the review. Thanks guys. Cheers
I got lucky and scored a bottle from my local liquor store. I was worried because my last 2 bottles of SB (10 and 15) were both meh. One sip of this and I was like Woh yeah! SB is back baby! Glad you had the same experience.
You guys inspired me to buy one from new riff’s website. Can’t get it in New Mexico. Cheers!
Nice I was super excite for a second batch. Heads up, we haven't talked about that version yet, but it's a bit of a step down. But with a drop of water, it really opens up and remains excellent! Check out Hello Again Whisky Friends for Jeff's breakdown. The two of us have exchanged a few paged of notes about it :)
Really interesting thoughts Dustin and Mike! I always love hearing your opinions! This expression sounds interesting. 🤨 Much appreciated. Hope you and your families are super well guys!! Cheers!!🥂
I was born in the year of the dragon... 1964!
76 for me!
Great distillery, high lowest level, have not tried this one but never had a bad Kavalan😋😋
Nice one. I just want them to do more virgin oaks - I’d buy a case!
Those are some amazing bottles.
Sound like I will be passing on this, even if a was a Dragon. Not to mention the $$$.
This distillary has so many hits that this one is hard to justify but still a solid whisky in general.
I think they are based in Taiwan, not Thailand. But yes, definitely one of my favorite distilleries as well. I find it fascinating how the warmer regional temperatures and climate affect the ageing process. Indri is another distillery making very interesting whisky aged in a tropical climate. They have a few very interesting limited release expressions aged in bourbon and red wine casks.
You're correct. We were having a brain fart lol.
I misspoke, lol.
I got to try this at Evernorth over the weekend!
thoughts?
is this a re-review?
Not even sure you can call this a review given we split 2 oz. But certainly not a re-review. Didn't this just come out like a year ago?
Our first time with it. But we review quite a few Laphroaig's.
Heaven Hill didn't have a working distillery in beginning of 1999, They purchased Bernheim Distillery in 1999. So this could have been distilled there as well and vatted after 13 years in the barrel.
Good info. I didn't actually hear where they distilled but that makes sense. The vating and waiting is pretty well discussed. Just amkes you wonder how much other special stuff they have just waiting like this?
Thanks for the shout out guys. Lookin good Keith. Cheers
Hollywood went big beard
I’ve only tried a couple 9 years or younger and wasn’t impressed by any of them. The hype and the cost just doesn’t add up to what’s in the bottle. KC12 is my gold standard and go to at 100 proof and I haven’t had an Old Fitz that stacks up.
Great tasting notes and discussion. So was time travel or a time warp involved in this 13 year old distilled in 1999 yet bottled in 2024?
Barreled for 13 years and then put in a stainless steel vat for 12 years. The lady that owns Old Saint Nick has old Stitzel Weller sitting vats.
I just sipped this and completely agree with you. Beautiful oak, honey, and vanilla notes and incredible complexity. As my dram sat, the fruit basket became more tropical. It has a super long finish and great viscosity. I’m definitely appreciating it more now than when I first opened the bottle a year ago. cheers
Nice! this is a hard whisky not to enjoy. Nothing off-putting.
Is 189 euros a good price for Arran 21?
sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
Pls do laphroaig 10 cs batch 17 thx and big hellllo from Slovenija....u gays are the best
The first gays made me laugh....now I'm wondering if you're not making a typo lol. We'll have to see if that shows up locally. Always enjoy a 10 CS.
Literally found a bottle of this 2009 DE in a little bodega in NYC about six months ago. I haven’t cracked it yet but glad I bought it after watching this video. I also found some Bookers in there from before they named and numbered the batches with the year it was released. You strike out a lot in stores like that but every once in a while you hit something
NY still has some hidden gems. "Whisky hunting" is extinct in my state.
Getting 2 bottles..looking forward to trying it….love tamdhu
Enjoy!
Because of u2 gays i buy 6 bottles of this on ebay for 900euro
my favorite comment we've ever gotten! lol
@@topshelfdustin3060 pls do laphroaig 10 cs batch 17
16👍
Cadenhead is usually good to me. From what I know, Cadenhead bottles at either 46% or cask strength and I haven''t seen anything different with the bottles I own. I would never pay high dollars for any Glenmorangie or Dalmore. It's a distillery that just doesn't really deliver for me for the price. Great review
Glenmorangie had it's place early in my whisky journey, but I completely agree with Dalmore. Signet is a solid offering.
I just made a comment about this bottle yesterday on your last cadenhead video
Fantastic review!! So not the 1985 Bears but more like the 1963 Bears?! CHEERS!!
The Bear's are such a consistent product. The JW red of the NFL.
@@topshelfwhisky 😆😅🤣
I have not tried one that I liked from Glen M. Too perfumed for me
Even signet? This is much more in that world, I doubt it's the same malt but the added age really added that darker flavor profile.
Never tried the signet. It’s probably been 15 years since I had Glenmorangie. Perhaps perfumed wasn’t the correct adjective. I should have said too floral. For me it wasn’t a taste I could appreciate. I do respect your reviews. Your palate is vastly more discriminant than mine.
@@jazzman642 oh no, I got it and I think I know what you're talking about. Just wanted to clarify if you got it with their signet, it's a different malt profile.
Only Laphroaig brings a man like Mike to tears!
One of the best Laphroaigs on the market. 2.0 is off profile Laphroaig while really good its missing the smoke you want.
Wonderful review fellas!! Please also review the elements 2.0 and compare & contrast the two❤ awesome job.
See what we can do. Very possible.
I passed on this one but I absolutely adore the new cairdeas. That’s one I grabbed a backup of.
better use of a whisky budget for sure. Love that Cairdeas
Sounds like 10 cask strength is the better buy
depends on the batch
Fabulous Laphroaig expression guys!! The best guys have lots of sisters!! 👯♀️ You both rock!! Love this Laphroaig - Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Lagavulin!!! LOVE these!! Cheers Dustin and Mike!!
Great video guys 👍🏻 Think this one was mediocre, L2.0 is far better😋😋
We still have to try the 2.0
I missed out on this batch. My local said they got it in and when I called to place the order online they said it was a misprint. I wonder how this compares to the Port Charlotte OLC or MRC scotches. Thanks for the honest kick in the gnards review.
Great review, guys. I do enjoy a whisky that “shoves me off a cliff”! 😂🥃
Laphroaig website says: experimentation with mashing and fermentation. Made in two sizes of mash tun and with two worts, cloudy and semi-cloudy. I looked at this at the store but passed because I just bought the 2024 Cairdeas for less.
That's a easy choice. The Cairdeas is special.
Sounds like a virgin oak finish.
Thanks for this one Lads. Fun as always. You just clarified what i knew before, no surprise then. Nice to have a sample but pay £150 asking price no way. Im Laphi fun but this seems to be designed for their Fanatics. I stay with my CS's and 16yo. Cheers 😁🥂🥂🥂🙋♂️
If you love the distillary, I say it worth your time but don't disagree with anything you said. Cheers
Hoping you guys do a 2.0 review. Love the tasting notes from the 1.0 but scored it a bit higher. There is a balance to its younger aggressive facets. That said, this is far from a 3 or 4 trick pony! Pretty awesome big bold atypical Laphroaig....
Similar in someways to some of the .1 Octomore's
Did ya guys tried lasted 15 batch ? Feb 15 2024 bottling? Its awesome! Eagerly waiting for you guys to review…😊
Good to hear! We will always try to get every release.
The old 18 is actually 22 years old. They labeled it 18 to promote their 18 year old. Also, the newer ones are much more mellowed out and less impressive. Both are good but the old one is out of this world.
We were big fans of the old one. Our friend The Malted Man Cave absolutely loved the old 18
Any thoughts on how this compares to CB Orchard House?
27👍
👍
✌
I remember these being released around 6 or 7 years ago and they've been sitting a loooooong time on shelves. appreciate the review, I'll look into it again.
A long time is right
Thank you my friend is at the airport you guys helped me made the decision Mascotel it is 💡😀 thanks guys ❤
That is awesome! I would like to know what you think.
@@topshelfwhisky looking forward to cheers 🙌🏽
Sounds very good and great value if around 100. Looks like a huge store around you has it for well under 100. Cheers.
