  • Today we're back for another simi blind sample review. This time from one of our favorite independent bottlers and a distillery we basically know nothing about.

Only had younger (12yr) Ardmore so far, and it had some pretty good peat. Last winter, I bought myself an Old Particular Ardmore 25 from 1997 53.3% refill bourbon hogshead. It was a unique small run of unpeated malt, but it is reported that there is a hint of peat as the distillery runs peated malt all the time otherwise. That plus the coal fired stills should be great. It is put away for a future birthday or some other special occasion. Cheers guys

Oh, I agree. From beef brisket to bacon. Is Ash going too far?

I've only had one from SMWS, 13 years old, but I really liked it. I would definitely try more from them. 😊

Great review as always - love what you are able to pull out of a small sample! This was a K&L exclusive from a couple of years ago. I really enjoyed it. Refill sherry but not much more info than that. I really need to send bigger samples though 😂

We had a couple of Ardmores at a private tasting some months ago. They were very good surprises. To be fair, none of us expected too much, but they really over performed🙂

I think Ardmore did direct fire their stills when this was distilled.

I believe they switched over to steam just before this in 2002.

you now have graduated and ready for some peated Ben Nevis. Campbeltown is not the only place that can do out there malts. You probably even ready for some crazy Jamaican rums from Hampden Estate mon and don't let the fowl nose on them put you off because the smell and tastes are a world apart

those were only $140 at K&L
