    I just bought this bottle last week. I cracked it open right away. I'm so glad I did, because this is delicious stuff!! I also enjoyed last year's release, mainly because I love Madiera...lol. I also really enjoy the Fino from 2018. However this bottle (2024) takes the cake! Cheers Laphroaig fans 👍

    I would have missed this one without you guys! Thanks for a great review. I haven't had a chance to try that many of the Cairdeas releases since they are not readily available in Finland. The ones I've had have mostly been good with some great ones (like 2008) here and there. Waiting for the Laphroaig 18 review and yes, I did listen to the live so it seems like I should already just get one.

    Hi praise coming from you guys! Now I have to justify blowing out my whiskey budget before these disappear…..UGHHH. Gotta say I really agree with Mike's point about Laphroaig and Sherry casks though: sometimes they really hit it out and other times strikeout, like I love Lore but HATE the 10yr Sherry which to me has a weird wet, musty sponge note that I guess you could almost say gets "chalky" or "clay" notes like Mike alluded to with the PX. Thanks for another great review!

    I found one today here in Connecticut. $104.99. However, only one of the four stores I stopped into had it. And they only had ONE on the shelf. I hadn't expected this to be so limited (I even checked some websites of stores in my area that don't have it in yet either- but can find the Cairdeas from 21, 22, 23's and supposedly one store still has the Fino finish)
    I will get into it this weekend and determine if it's worth continuing to scour my locals to find back ups. But now that you've had the 2024 Springbank 12, does this Laphroaig still have the top spot for whisky of the year??

    • @topshelfdustin3060
      @topshelfdustin3060 3 месяца назад +1

      Well, when I do the thumbnails I take some liberty, but I gave this that trophy because this is something people can get. Our springbank 12 review had comment after comment of "how did you get it for 150" and "where do you live" and "what stores do you shop" and I get emails about where can I get this online for 300.
      Nobody asks that about this one. So while this might be hard to get....it seems everyone we've told to get it, gets it.And for less money.

    • @topshelfdustin3060
      @topshelfdustin3060 3 месяца назад +1

      that said, yeah springbank is better, but this wins because it's cheaper, available, and darn it....that should matter.

    • @javieracosta3439
      @javieracosta3439 3 месяца назад

      @@topshelfdustin3060 yeah, very good to great is all fine and dandy but with scarcity in play I understand that'll tip the scales in favor of a more widespread release. When the SB 12 dropped here three weeks ago I probably could have gotten more than one of them at $120 and would have after watching your review if it had dropped earlier. As it stands now the SB12s are all gone.
      With the new Cairdeas I figure it to be much easier, especially with so many whisky drinkers here unable to tolerate peat. So far it's slim pickings but happy to find one and end the hunt. (For now 😂)
      Cheers Dustin.

      That's a close call...two of the best "bang for your buck" releases in recent memory. I'm struggling with this one.
      -both cask strength
      -both heavily sherried
      -both age stated (10 & 12)
      -both Islay
