wait till Sunday ;) another banger! Springbank perhaps? But full thanks to our supporters, we've gotten so much help from them to keep putting our these high end reviews.
I opened this yesterday after listening to you guys day before that. Really liked it, in a good way just a low abv 10cs with everything being more matured and nuanced without the offensive power of the cask strenght. I don't think I ever had the old one, but may have to hunt down that one too. Althought it seems to have 280€ price tag, compared to the 170€ of the new one.
Some say something similar regarding the 25 year. To some degree they’re all very recognizable as Laphraoig. It worth your time to compare side-by-side.
I've got the old Laphroaig 18 year in the green tin locked away in the bunker. I put a feeler out to one store to get me the new one. I may have to reach out to another store owner by me to get this one. I'm dreading the price though. Some Laphroaig 8 year Single Barrel store picks are $250 min. This 18 year may be more.
@@phatzwave4424 Thanks for putting the range you're seeing. Helps me gauge how much money to have earmarked. You're so lucky you have a couple of old 18 year Laphroaigs stashed away. I've only got one.
Laphroaig 18yo is good but Laphroaig is just great @ 10yo and 30yo, anything in between is an odd combination of the two. Just my 2¢. Although the old 15yo @ 43% was a nice, good compromise because it was one of my first peated Scotches.
Blind compare it to the 16 I mean based on your descriptions i get the same from the 16 which is, obviously, way cheaper. Im sad to say but this is a pass for me.
And i never had the luck to try the old 18 O well. And im not paying those secondary prices to try those. People act like all the good whisky is a thing of the past but i dont believe it. There's always something new and exciting coming out every year. There's still distilleries delivering for those who really sit down and mindfully enjoy their whisky, and some even are reasonably priced.
@@topshelfwhisky i stocked up on that bunna but then again im a bunna fan boy😳 The 18's have gone up in price but they remain top notch quality. I also love cairdeas, i recently found a store selling them for $50/bottle🤯(yea i know right) so i bought a case lol. Thats funny, both the examples u gave are ones i happen to have stocked up (and i dont stock up on much).
have you watched the 2024 OSWA's nominee's ? It's still a joke and this is nothing but the Roy awards and for his fanboys and it's obvious. Ralfy needs to step away from this abomination. It's a joke. No Bruichladdich up for best distillery is all you need to know but Loch Lomond is. The Roy Fanboy Award's. LOL !!!
@@MrPsiman I haven’t. The first year I checked it out I thought that they had some solid recommendations, but it’s been a while. One nice advantage of having your own RUclips channel. You can tell people exactly what you think. 😉
Loch Lomond is certainly a cool distillery and they remain well priced. But...yeah I've not a huge fan of how the OSWA's are done. I did try and watch some but Ralfy was on some rant about the evil big Irish producers and I couldn't sit through it.
LOVE this Laphroaig!! I had a dram last night!! You guys are the best!!! Cheers!!!🥂
You guys have been putting out a lot of great whiskey’s and is always a must watch. Thank you keep em coming cheers!

Me and my buddy are going to Crack the new version open this weekend. Cheers gentlemen
Awh thought you were going to pull out the old 18
Oh...that video is coming :) We just haven't done it yet!
Milking it
All bourbon casking…how is it compared to FOL21 (2016)?
@@D.C.897 easy tiger, that’s 21 was special. 😉
@@topshelfwhisky yes it was

The cheapest I've found is $260+ and up to $500. I'm glad I've got a couple of old ones stashed away. I know the dollar sucks, but damn!

Break out the bunker bottle
@@francisoconnor2392 I want to do the comparison so I'll bust it out when I get the new one or else I'll drink all of that bunkered bottle too fast.
This was about 260 USD to get it to my door. well over double the cost of the old 18.
Remeber you said Lore vs 18 are almost neck to neck. Still think so?
I honestly might take lore over this. Lore is a really unsung hero. But they're just completely different.

interesting, I've had a bit of the 30's and the 25 to me is a better point of reference.

it's richer then the 16 year. but not a bad idea for a comparison at some point.
The Laphroaig Cairdeas is a great example. Or the 2022 Bunna 12 CS
