- Love them? Hate them? Undecided? Thank you for joining me as I unbox Qor High Chroma watercolors set and see my first impressions of this highly pigmented set. Unboxing, testing out, painting a mushroom and snail. I'm digging into my small pile of artist supplies and will be doing some reviews throughout the coming weeks.

I personally love this High Chroma collection by QoR. One of the things I noticed about these paints is that when I use them to paint in one of those standard Johanna Basford coloring books (because pencil colors require a lot of pressure and my joints are delicate), I noticed QoR paints apply beautifully to that paper and because of rich pigments, not a lot of water is needed to spread the paints. Also, amazing dispersion during wet-on-wet application. Just incredible!
Since I sometimes fight with the Basford books (pencils make my hands hurt too in those books, so painful,) I think I'm going to have to give this a try. I have Secret Garden and I think Lost Ocean and something else maybe. I'm definitely going to give it a try. I've tried Chameleon markers and they worked great, but I can't remember if that was in the artist paper book or the standard books. I think the pages are just too slick for color to go down well with pencils without all the pressure. I do love the dispersion and patterns always fascinate me with paints.
I've been painting some mini dragons with the Qor the last couple of days and that's helping me warm up to them.
@@AnotherBrainArt You're right about the glossy pages which I'm guessing are designed to be hydrophobic so oily mediums such as color pencils could adhere better. I have the Enchanted Forrest and Secret Garden and QoR paints do not bead up. Since I only have the high chroma paints from QoR, I sometimes mix them with other brands and I've seen the same effect. I'm considering buying the synthetic ox gall from QoR which I'm guessing is the reason these paints go on so smoothly. All the best with the coloring!
QOR are not great for mixing but good for layering on botanical painting

I'm so clumsy. My paint brush sometimes flies off in the room on its own.
@@AnotherBrainArt Because of my nerve issues and twitches, I will randomly throw things or just like "mic drop" them. My hand just lets go of stuff. It's fun when I'm trying to hand someone something and I throw it at them by accident lol.
