You are such a brave sewist! You'll take on any project and are usually very successful. Can hardly wait to see your final results. Useful stuff in your "goodie bag." The pinafore looks great and pockets would be helpful. You must keep that thrift shop in business, Babbra!

Thank you Tana, I find that if I push myself I will learn more even if it all goes 'pete tong' (wrong). Should have put pockets in the original pinafore but did not really have enough material. It is quite a busy thrift shop so they are doing well, but also buying from there is helping the charity that they support.

You're a brave soul to wear a corset. I can't tolerate anything tight or restrictive. Haven't even worn a bra for ages! You're sewing journey is an interesting one, and you've challenged yourself quite a lot with the items you've drafted and repurposed. Enjoyable and inspiring to watch.

Thank you Laura, I don't mind a fitted garment as long as it is preperly done. The off the peg stuff just doesn't cut the mustard. So hopefully the corset will be comfortable. I do like to push myself a bit ☺

That type of corset is actually called stays and they are from the 18th century. I have always wanted to make one but I haven't had the gumption to take it on, lol.
I think its brilliant you are going to make one and I love it!!!
Have a great weekend, Babbra ❤

Thank you Brandi, it looked like the simplest of the patterns I have. But once I get the hang of it I can have a go at a more technical one. Have a great weekend ☺

This is a good exercise. I think you do a great job of fitting patterns/garments to suit your body type. The back looks great, not much to do there. On to muslin #2. Nice thrifting finds too. Pockets will look great on your pinafore.

Thank you Jan, I am enjoying the process and will extend my skills and knowledge. Pockets are a must so the pinafore will be perfect (well almost).

The corset looks interesting, look forward to seeing the finished item. Strange collection of stuff in the thrifted package. The fabric squares do look like fat quarter size.

Thank you Diane, I tend to agree about those fabric squares they just looked a little small when I first saw them.

There are a ton of you tube videos on the history of corsets that you might find interesting. They (corsets) play a very important part in the history of clothing over the centuries. They are a very misunderstood garment, and not the instruments of torture that they are portrayed as being.

Hi Patricia, I have had a little look at some of them videos. I do want to do a deeper dive into their history and use and styles. Then I can hopefully make more styles ☺

Have you ever cut and made your own bias tape? It isn't hard to do; and, you can make the perfect matching bias tape for any project. Corsets were made to change your body shape and rearrange your internal organs. I have never wanted to wear one. Having to wear heavy duty bras (all my adult life) has NOT been comfortable or fun. Plus the bras I have to wear are expensive. Come to think more about it, my sports bras look more like corsets with cups in them. They are not pretty; but, they work. I love your jumper dress. If you put an "A" line gored skirt on your next jumper dress, you could sew hidden pockets in the front panel seams. I love "A" line skirts that drop 6 inches (or longer) below my knees. They are easy to walk, sit, and stoop in. You have to be careful when you bend over in a skirt. I have been home sick most of this week. Yesterday, I visited a doctor. I'm feeling better today. I have a bad sinus infection. I hope you have a safe and happy week. Love to you and yours.

Hi Arvetta, I have made my own bias tape from time to time but depends on how much material I have.
I have had a bit of a look into the history of shaping wear, the latest incarnation is the bra of which I find to be over simplified or just not really supportive. That said I don't require such items so I am no expert. Everyone is different and what works for one does not for another.
Now A line skirts are my favourite, better if it has pleats in it. I do prefer skirts to be at about the knee but I'm prepared to try longer lengths.
Hope you feel properly better soon. Have a nice week and take care ☺
