new subscribers! Loved seeing all your plans. I just finished a petite knit Monday sweater and started on the Olga jacket for my partner in a beautiful noro yarn. Recently picked up sewing and I’m working on the Sydney graham ruby vest! Loving the process of sewing and all the planning and switching to an easy calm stockinette cardigan.
I just subscribed today and I LOVE this content - as someone getting a sewing machine next month, this is great inspiration and I love your taste in colors/fabrics. Please keep making more content like this - maybe more sewing vlogs?
Emily, if you do end up making the Billy trousers, please document the process! I bought the pattern recently (it looks great) and would love to follow along with you.
The Whole 30 Fabric Challenge has helped me to slow the purchasing (stop). Although I allow myself Our Social Fabric purchases. I am also planning to make the Phoebe coat. I think the longer coat balances the large collar but agree it might be a bit big for the shorter version. Both Core Fabrics and Fabricville have a cozy kasha lining that I have been ogling. Great catch up video. Thanks Edit: Greenstyle Clara wrap top.
Your necklace! I love the way you styled your sweater with the color of that necklace. It looks like it might be carnelian or garnet? It’s just lovely!
The Copelia by Papercut patterns is a great wrap top which I have made a few of, they have closed now but all Pdfs still available. I agree with your concerns about the lapel and collar for the Pheobe coat, it looks good but would think it would end up wearing me rather than the other way around. Love all your plans.
You have some lovely plans! I was very excited to see the new Closet Core coat, but like you wasn't sure about the way the collar sat. There's wearable oversized and then you get the oversized where the garment is wearing you - this is a bit close to the latter I think. On to knitting, have you looked at lever knitting? It's a variation of English style, but quite quick. You might have to start a separate simple project in order to switch, but you might find it worth it.
I can recommend the Armeria knit wrap top by Sewillow, if you wanted to take a look at that sewing pattern. 😊 I know them from Etsy- not sure if they have a separate website. It’s a two for one as well because it has two different views: a long sleeve wrap top and an elevated basic crewneck long sleeve top. Love your personal style- you have great taste! And based on the finished garments you’ve shown, you clearly do a great job with fabric choice and construction! 😍 What is the artwork on your wall in the background?
@ Ah! The style of art was so familiar, but I could not for the life of me recall the artist to whom it belongs. Thank you! By the way, Sewing Therapy has a sewing pattern that reminds me a lot of the cinched waist dress you made. You may like it! I forget the name of their website and Etsy shop, but I’m sure they have it linked on their YT channel. 😊
I purchased the Freya Pants a month ago with the intention to make it with corduroy too (nice deep green), im looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. Also, a suggestion for your knitting is you could give "flicking" a go, its still the english way of knitting you just don't drop the yarn. You'll be able to find lots of video on RUclips to practise. Looking forwards to all your makes so excited you're back ❤
I am making another Pansy dress, a pattern from Rosery Apparel. This one is from a thrifted sheet with a fall motif. I also have a pair of Sew House Seven Free Range pants cut out and some rust colored corduroy ready to cut out another pair. I am also knitting a cardigan, slowly.
Another wrap top pattern you might be interested in is the Elio by Allie Olson. It's a faux wrap but she offers a tutorial to make it a real wrap. I've made several iterations of the Jada top but had to make quite a few fit mods. I'm surprised that there aren't more pattern options out there for this style of top yet 🙃
It makes no sense to be so determined not to buy anything new that you make a cost which you just won't love. As you say, black doesn't seem to be the correct lining in this case.
Would love to see a long-form decluttering video, where you talk about why you like/dislike a given item, where it came from, if you made it, etc!
Okay, it’s on my to do list!

6:31 I love threadloop! it has made such a huge difference in my creative process and sewing practice ❤ I will always sing its praises

Love that you sew AND knit!! Can't wait for more of your content
Thank you!! 😊
I love my wrap top ! ❤
With her patterns I copy and paste the transcript into notion and include screenshots of the video when necessary 😢
Great tip, thanks!!
Thank you, you have lovely plans
Thank you! 😊
Love seeing another video from you! The corduroy Frey pants are going to be perfect for fall!
Thank you! I’m pretty excited for those ☺️
I'm a Scottish English knitter;0) my mum taught me when i was 4. I get up to an amazing speed!.i love your green T. You did a great job with that.
My mom taught me too! Thank you ☺️

Thank you! I agree, it looks more balanced on the longer version.
The struggle of our hobby: Minute 5, closet overwhelm. Minute 11, all the things to be added.
It’s a balancing act for sure!
Your necklace! I love the way you styled your sweater with the color of that necklace. It looks like it might be carnelian or garnet? It’s just lovely!
Oh thank you! It is carnelian, you’re right ☺️ I made it myself!
Good job of planning! I love everything you've shown. I must check out the Freya pants.😊
Thank you! 😊
No worries, the lining is a notion get what you need or you won’t be happy ❤with the coat
Love your fabric choices
What yarn did you use for the blue sweater? I also knitted the Super Basic Tee and love it as well. I plan to cast on an other one for spring.
It’s cascade 220 ☺️

Yes exactly 😂 thank you!!
I was going to suggest this wrap pattern too :)

Agreed 😂 I haven’t heard of lever knitting but I’ll look it up, thank you!

That sounds great, thank you! The artwork is a print by La Poire from Desenio.

What is the knit pattern you are wearing? Loved your video.
It’s the Lakes pullover by Ozetta ❤️
Lots of people have made the Tilly and the Buttons Pearl cardigan as a top, so you could look at that for the knit wrap top.
Thank you!! I’ll take a look ☺️

Ohh green corduroy sounds lovely. I think my mom does the flicking technique and she’s really fast - so you’re right, I should give it a try!

I made Grace coat by Bella
I absolutely love the style
Her patterns look amazing!
I vote for the sanda coat from merchant and mills for your coat :)
Ohh that one is so cute too! Thanks for the suggestion ❤️
Maybe you could go into some shops and try on coats similar in style to the phoebe to see if it is what you are looking for.
That’s a really good idea ☺️
Tilly and the buttons has a wrap top pattern.
Thank you, I’ll check it out!
❤
Ravelry would do so well if it extended it's format to sewists, or created a parallel site
The owners are, I believe, a knitted and her partner, so it makes sense that it is curtailed to knitting.
@india1422 yes, I guess so!
Threadloop has a really similar feel! And it’s by a sewist too ☺️
I've just signed up to try it! I put your name in as 'where I heard about' thanks @@EmilyLightly

I agree! I feel like sourcing something deadstock or secondhand/thrifted would be a sustainable, middle of the road option
