When I was little, Dad made a dulcimer. He got it all ready to to and took it to Mamaw. Nobody has ever been happier with something and gotten more use from something than that dulcimer.

I have a dulcimer that belonged to my great grandmother in Middlesburo Ky. I also have my grandfather’s banjo from KJ Ky, and dobro from a great uncle in North Carolina. I can’t play any of them but I treasure each and every one of them.

Your very welcome my friend. It is beautiful country that's for sure.
Beautiful! What a beautiful sound! I miss the days when I was a young girl and my family would gather together. My uncle’s and cousins would play guitar, banjo, fiddle, the gut bucket bass- and sing the old songs. Good blue grass music. It’s a lost art. Which is sad. Wonderful good old time music 🎶 God bless you Mr. Laws.
Awesome my friend. Thanks so much for sharing your memories. God bless you.

That is such a beautiful instrument. Remember as a kid watching Hee Haw and hearing the beautiful sound of the Dulcimer. Oh I’ll look forward to more of these! Clairfield is my daddy’s birthplace way back in 1914. We would drive around and he would describe how it used to be and you could hardly picture it. So many of my people are buried there. I love to see how life is there and love the dulcimer music! Thanks for the video Donnie and friend!
That's so awesome my friend. Thanks for sharing this. God bless you. It was a thriving place in the coal boom days.
I was born in Bardstown, Ky and used to burn coal in our stoves. This is beautiful. He can really play some good music. Thank you for sharing Donnie. Stay safe ❤️🙏
Thanks for sharing this my friend. Your very welcome.
Sweet old instrument, thanks for sharing
So true my friend. Your very welcome.
My dad played banjo, dulcimer, and guitar and sang tenor in a blue grass gospel band back in the early 80’s.
Takes me back to being a kid listening my dad play and sing. He had his thyroid removed and it damaged his vocal chords and the death of his mom and then his sister took the music out of him. But last time i visited he sang some with my daughter and that made me smile. I’m working on getting digital versions of his band’s audio tapes so i can upload them to you tube
That's awesome my friend. Thanks so much for sharing your memories and story. God bless you.

Thank you friend.
I play the mountain dulcimer and hammered dulcimer too!
Awesome my friend.
I love the sound of dulcimers too. Mom bought me one and I took some lessons from the maker when I was in high school in the 70's. It looked very similar to the one your friend has. I sold it to someone who wanted to learn to play one a few years back as it deserved to be played and I hadn't played it in years. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.
Thanks for sharing this my friend. Your very welcome.

Thank you friend. God bless you.
Thank you for sharing the dulcimer story! I have a dulcimer and can only strum (not chord) it but love the pure folk sound it makes. Mountain View, Arkansas still has a shop that crafts and sells these unique sounding instruments.
That's awesome my friend. Thanks for sharing. God bless you. Your very welcome.
Yes, they do have a unique and beautiful sound. You can pick that sound anywhere❤ Your friend's dulcimer is lovely. They are said to have been derived from European instruments but I dont know which specific one. Maybe a bunch of them. I've said before I have an Appalachian mountain dulcimer but I can't really play it. My daughter's father is a musician and that's one of the instruments he plays. Celtic music mostly. I love the hammer dulcimer too.
I'd heard the name dulcimer before, but never saw or heard one played till now, thankyou for sharing 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I played the dulcimer many years ago. Arthritis has a little different idea now. It was always relaxing.
God bless you my friend. Thanks so much for sharing.
I'm looking forward to your stories, Donnie. Thank you for showing the world the true side of mountsin culture.
So many people think very poorly of us due entirely to Hollywood. Those Hollywood people don't know their left from their right. Now, that's NOT the expression I was taught; but, it is a family friendly interpretation of it.
Thank you friend for sharing this. God bless you. Your very welcome.

The Hammered Dulcimer is used in Irish music. It is played by striking the strings in a percussive manner. Another beautiful sound. Search 'Hammered Dulcimer Ireland' on youtube. Best wishes from ireland
