That was very special. When my momma passed, she and my dad has been married for 43 years. She was buried about 4 miles from the house and many times we’d get up and find him gone. His car would be there but he was no where to be found. He had walked four miles down a major U.S. highway just to sit at her grave. It is just a wonder that he was not killed by a big truck. He never forgot her. He loved her till the day He died 26 years later. We buried him beside her. Thank you for that story.
Maybe he was wishing that somehow he would be there in the grave too but cared too much for those around him to take the quick way while never revealing the true depth of feeling for his and your loss. Sounds like a man who was very strong and very hurting - may they both be at rest now.
My grandpa used to tell me a story said while after his mama died he looked out the window one morning and she was out there feeding the chicken's and he said mama and she went away. Your story made me think of what he always told me. God bless
One of the most beautiful ghost stories I've ever heard Donnie. People forget that not all ghost etories are about horror; (Although the Civil War was the horrific catalyst here.) If I get up that way I'll be sure ro look for that light! That kind of love surpasses all!
My dad's been in Heaven over 30+ years. He grew up in Northeast TN. Hearing You, Donnie, & remembering how dad would tell "When I was a Boy" stories are a Great Combination of nostalgic happiness, that there's just no amount of money could Buy! Thanks Donnie Laws
I wish you were a history teacher. Our youth could really truly learn so much from you! I absolutely love your channel, your stories, your voice. Thank you.
I relate to every thing you say! 71 now & grew up country! These ways I saw back then. I asked My grand father born 1900 about great depression He raised 10 kids on 100 acres. Mom was the oldest. He said we had a warm place to sleep& plenty to eat& no body could make us move! Many of my days were spent at the (EXHAUST END OF A MULE) ! LOVED HIM ,TAUGHT ME MANY THINGS! 5TH GRADE ED. BUT ONE OF THE SMARTEST MEN I EVER KNEW! KEN. V8 FORD BUILDER 50 YEARS.
Donnie I think love so deep leaves a track on time just like a footprint. Perhaps this light was the footprint of perfected love. Love never dies. Something strong as that is very well able to leave a light on earth. In a footprint of the one who loved with a perfected love.
Interesting little story, Donnie--Thank you! My family began in Appalachia over 170+ yrs ago, so I find the history & tales always intriguing. I remember my Grandfather gave me coins from the civil war era and someone stole them many yrs ago--I know we aren't suppose to put our value in "things," but back then, it broke my heart...
I live with a spirit for 3 years I had glass Coca-Cola bottles up over my head that Spirit was a female she would push a glass bottle off the edge of the shelf and when hit me too hard but I did get hit mostly in the leg
Great story Mr. Donny... it reminded me of what happened after my grandma died unexpectedly. Story goes that the mail man saw her at the mail box a week after she passed. But he wasn't aware of this because he was on vacation the week she passed and only learn of her passing when he stopped to talk to my grandpa.
Sad, sad story Donnie. Those people really had it hard and it's a wonder they lived as long as they did. We had a place out 60 miles east of Cincinnati, all woods and lots of old old shacks like that. Mostly nice people but I loved going there. Old gravel roads, and definitely scary at night!!!
Aho, my friend Donnie Law. The great white man's story teller. This is another example of your great story telling my friend. I'm saving this video to a folder "Donnie Law's" stories so I can share them with others and play them when my grandchildren sleep over, or when I get together with family and friends for a gathering or camping trip. Thank you for this entertainment and history. Your stories keep your Appalachian culture alive. You are an honor and blessing to your people my friend. And my words on this are spoken from my heart.
I live on the boarder of the Shenandoah National Park and there are little family cemeteries throughout, if you know where to look. Sadly the story tellers are passing on. Thanks for continuing the stories of Appalachia in Tennessee.
Mr. Laws, you certainly have the voice for story telling, your cadence is poetic, giving depth to these tales of folklore. Authors often say, it is not the tale, but the teller, and you, sir add credence to that statement.
Awwww made me tear up. What a beautiful yet sad story. So precious of him to make sure she was not left in the dark. God Bless you and yours Mr. Donnie.
Great but sad ghost story, enjoyed it very much. I lost my husband in 2021 of 42 yrs to covid its so hard to go on without him. Just so hard to understand, but I know God has a plan.
I could sit here for hours, just watching & listening to your videos, they are very interesting so thank you very much, can't wait till the next videos and story's 👍.
Donnie, it was so wonderful to hear your voice again telling such a great story!! This story is definitely one of my favorites!! Also, I love the music at the beginning with the guitar and would love to know who the music is from. Thanks so much friend and God bless!!
What a sad but beautiful story, I bet that little light Still does show up in the dark, but no one really sees it anymore. They Really Did Love each other, didn't they...Awful pity about their dear Son, but I'm certain they're all together now. ❤️ Thankyou for this Donnie.
Donnie, the music for your intros and the slide guitar throughout the video is so cool. The guitar riff and piano used for the intro of this video is truly soothing and magical.
Your grandmother told you some great stories. Loved this one. Hey, maybe those little lights from your Trail Camera Oddities video a few days back! Little candles for loved ones who were afraid of the dark. Thanks for sharing

So Much Agree that Donnie should be the Real Life History Teacher...
You should volunteer to tell history at a school or library or charter school even. We need the truth.
