Fun fact to add about this specific piece: This is the title screen theme. As in, the title screen. You know, the screen they show when you first boot the game up, and they show the logo of the game with "Start", "Options", "Load", etc (though in this game's case, the menu is completely blank with only the words "Press any Button" flashing on the corner of the screen)? The very same screen that players typically just quickly choose whatever and blaze right past on? And like you yourself said, the song was made to start out very calm and simple before slowly becoming more and more bombastic and awe inspiring; so it's not like the song is going to instantly grab the attention of most people who first boot the game up since they'll either pay it no mind at all or just assume it is JUST a simple piano track and not such a beautiful piece of music and they'll move on before the song starts picking up. Given that the Xenoblade soundtrack is one of such incredible quality, some take this as Monolith making a statement such as "Our game's music is so good that we can afford to put one of the best tracks on a screen most people will not stay on for long" but personally, I feel like they put the song there as both a reward for people who do decide to remain on that screen for a while, and for thematic sense. The song itself, as you also said yourself, tells the tale of something that is more than just a mere journey (some even say it tells the game's whole plot perfectly), and the title screen itself complements the song by first starting out in the middle of the day but by the time the first crescendo hits the day has transitioned into sunset, then once the crescendo ends it has pass over into nighttime and the end of the song comes along with the dawn. It is very clear that the developers wanted the player to sit for a bit and listen while observing the title screen, and they made sure to reward the act with some absolutely sublime music and imagery. An incredible start to the experience that the game is about to provide the player.
For what it's worth... I've never known anyone who's played this game to ever skip the title screen without it playing through the music at least once every time before playing.
Almost every time I boot up the game, I'll sit on the title screen for the whole song, watching the gorgeous sunrise, sunset, nighttime, and the sunrise again. I think this song is already amazing, but with those visuals, it just makes it a masterpiece. Honestly the best way to experience it
I only skip it now because I don't like the game complete version of it as much as the default. I know it cycles back to the original title screen if you wait a bit, but at that point I just wanna start playing.
I beat the game again for the first time in 7 years not too long ago and hearing the main theme kick in after the credits with the new title screen was like a punch to the gut. It definitely felt like a reward especially at the end.
The best part is when you finish the game and this shows up after the credits and you remember the long way. THAT moment, is when this song hits really HARD.

"Wait. Is this truly what you desire?" This song plays during one of the most emotional cutscenes in the entire game. And on the title screen. Which has a day/night circle. Xenoblade problems #256: Not being able to start playing the game because the title screen is just too darn pretty.

This track is special to me. The first time I heard it was at a concert dedicated to the music of Yoko Shimomura (she was there too). I found this music so beautiful that I was immediately interested in the game it came from. And that game has become one of my all-time favourites. I love how you interpreted the music, it's exactly how I felt playing Xenoblade Chronicles and how I feel when I look back on my games. The Xenoblade ost is a masterpiece and this theme is one of the most beautiful in the game, as is everything Yoko Shimomura does. By the way, if you like what she does, she also worked on the Kingdom Hearts ost (I recommend the Roxas theme) and The Legend of Mana ost (I recommend the main theme or song of mana). ^^
O we happy crying this morning! Definitely took the words out of my mouth Marco! Just a ton of emotions listening to this piece. Each instrument taking turns with the melody at the start, the swelling and union of so many playing at once in the middle and then back to soft violin + piano at the end. One of the first times I sat at the title screen when starting a game. And then feeling more emotions after playing through the game and listening to it again. Can't ask for much more!
Xenoblade's main theme just sounds so bittersweet to me. It's a perfect representation of what experiencing the game actually feels like. That lonely piano at the beginning sounds like we are following the story of a single person but in fact it's a story about all of us. It's about the human condition. Eventually that tiny melody at the beginning explodes into an orchestra of many voices. All the people we meet. All the hellos and goodbyes. By the way I was under the impression you only react to songs that contain some sort of singing.. dude this opens up a whole new world. You got to listen to 'Serpent Eating the Ground' from the Bravely franchise. It will blow your mind with all the leitmotif stuff going on.
The xenoblade chronicles series is incredibly good in terms of story, gameplay in general and the games' music are a work of Art Themes: Engage the Enemy, Counterattack, One Last You, Gormott Day, Torigoth Night, Tantal Day/Night, Gaur Plains Day, Yggdrasil (World Tree Theme), A Place in the Sun,... The Tomorrow with you,... Walking with you, Beyond the Sky, A Moment of Eternity,...
The fact that you get so carried away by the music, that you let your emotions out just like any of us... It's really why I'm sticking to this channel more than any other, it's your own personal spark. I enjoy music reactions, but when I see someone so enthralled by video game music like I do, I can't help it, I feel great and carried away as well. Go on like this, your work is great !
I am really happy to see your reaction to this piece. I remember when I first got this game as a gift for Christmas from one of my sisters. I knew nothing about the game except that my sister thought I would enjoy it. I booted it up when everyone else had gone to bed and immediately I was caught off guard when this started playing as the title theme. Most other games I played at the time would start off with a bombastic tone as they expected you to just move right along but instead, Xenoblade's theme was quiet and calm. I couldn't help but sit there and listen; as it continued on as you said, it felt like I was being sent on a journey and I couldn't even get off to start the game. When everything comes to a close, I knew I was in for something special.
I love Yoko Shimomura's work. Her talent to evoke emotions within you is unreal, almost on the same level as the legendary Nobuo Uematsu's. I think this track is one of her best works, a total tear jerker, even for someone like me who hasn't even played the game. If you'd be interested for some more, I would HIGHLY recommend the soundtrack of Radiant Historia, which is her lesser known works, but easily among her finest. "An Earnest Desire of Grey", "Where The Wind And Feathers Return", "Radiant Historia" and "The Red Locus" all come highly recommended, just to name a few.
I... WAIT! she wrote PARASITE EVE's music?!! Holy hell no wonder why i love it. Parasite eve had some great music that i STILL LISTEN TO. Don't look at me like that. that intro song (PRIMAL EYES) for PE is OUTSTANDING and bombastic. Great music to listen to while working overnight. She also wrote for a few of the Mana series games which is nice. I'll have to look at the one's you suggested, as she's got great talent. As an aside, yeah.. she's definitely up there with Nobuo Uematsu as legendary. I mean shit.. The Last Story had GREAT music that was just as emotionally investing in as hers. and he did it. IT was nice to see he can do one that had much more introspective music than just bombastic battle music.
@@jesseallen3109 I completely forgot Parasite Eve. I've yet to play it, as it never released in Europe, but I really like the soundtrack. Very atmospheric.
@@ZealSeraph you could always try to emulate it these days. Or buy an.. wait no.. American version is region locked from UK isn't it? Then emulate it I guess. The first game (imo) is the best out of the trilogy. Mainly because PE 2 kinda retconned some things and made it go in a completely different direction that now followed Resident Evil. PE 3 (named 3rd birthday - ugh.) Went into a different direction as well and was.. a promising idea for a psp game.. but would have been better as a stand alone and not as a 3rd retcon of PE delving into time manipulation and "snatching bodies" by forcing aya's consciousness into a person at that time jump to do certain things.
@@ZealSeraph I want to add that she also composed a game called Last Ranker, it was only released in Japan. So it's even less known, certain tracks in that game are composed in the style of Parasite Eve. Highly recommend 'Infinite Spiral'
Never played or watched an LP of X so this is the first time I've heard of this song and I just want to say, THANK YOU FOR LETTING PEOPLE LIKE ME KNOW THIS SONG EXISTS!!! It's amazing.
@@Lazer_Specter Hiroyuki Sawano, composer for Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill, pretty much did all the music for XCX. They wanted to go for a different genre than what traditional JRPGs usually lie in, which actually fits X's theme of unfamiliarity on a different planet while humanity is being hunted down
This game has 4 main composers (technically 6 but 3 of them are credited as a team(ACE+)) Lead Composer Yoko Shimomura did this piece and she is literally my favorite video game composer ever. She also did the entirety of the kingdom hearts franchise and I love her there as well. I love how she incorporates the piano into so many of her pieces and put so much into making you FEEL something with it. But she can also do absolutely intense stuff that gets your blood pumping (Take a listen to Unfinished Business from the xenoblade soundtrack) I will never stop loving her work and want everyone to appreciate it as much as I do.
Xenoblade Chronicles is one of my favorite games ever. I remember every time I continued playing, I had to stay at title screen and listen to this masterpiece before playing :D Xenoblade has amazing soundtrack overall but this main theme is something special (yes I have cried to this song) :D Your comments and thoughts about this song were really interesting and I agree totally! Oh btw, this song also plays in the game one time in very special cutscene.
xenoblade chronicles taught me many years back to always sit through the entire main theme of any new rpg i first boot up without pressing a button. listening to its main themes, all three titles, makes me cry every time.
I can't say anything others haven't already. I've sat and watched this title screen on loop before, just sitting in it. So many times. I don't hear this type of music in anything else I watch or hear, so these pieces feel special and unique and so full of emotion to me. The emotion the music brings, and then it's wrapped up in everything I felt along the way, playing the game.
It was the Xenoblade games that made me start listening to every game’s title screen themes… This song is so beautiful and so powerful. It pulls on my heartstrings so much… There are just soooooo many songs in the Xenoblade series that are amazing in their own rights… There are a few songs that make me tear up so much. Music is powerful and can invoke such strong emotions. Once again, love your reaction! Keep up the good work!
Ask any xeno fan, those first notes are the most recognizable notes ever. Brings so many emotions to me, this is one of, if not THE most important game to me. Series wise there's probably others. But this game itself was the first I strive to 100%, and I did. My file it still saved somewhere withing my possession.
You finally did it!! And you gave word to all these feelings I've felt and could never properly express, because of such an intense emotional journey. One of the best title screens ever made, you should watch it :D :D ... and play both games hahahahahah but be minded that those will suck up your life.
After beating this game, I went straight to the main menu sat for a good hour just remembering each and every second I had while playing this game and all of which, I loved.
Dude you hit the nail on the head I get emotional everytime I hear this it feels like it's my anthem the piece I can relate to the most and this game means so much to me it's amazing that everything you inferred from this piece was spot on without playing the game it really does speak for itself which is amazing but if you play the game suddenly you get all of the images and you reminisce all of the moments from the game that were amazing which enhances the piece much more it's just incredible
Glad you checked this out! One of my favorite songs. Pretty much every time I opened the game I had to let this song play in full before I could start playing myself
I love what you took away from this song. This could very well be my most favorite song from anything. Ever. So glad that you had the chance to experience Xenoblade Chronicles main theme. If this is what spurs you to eventually try out Xenoblade Chronicles, then prepared to feel so so many emotions, from the very start til the very end.
I think that more than any other song, this one has affected me the most deeply. It captures the entire experience of that first playthrough of Xenoblade for me. All of the grand journey and fantastical scenes and by the end you feel like you've grown and experienced more than you ever set out to and there's joy in that. But then those last quiet notes settle down and you remember the sorrow that began this journey, and all the things that happened on the way. All you can do is reflect and know that it was worth all of it. This game changed my life all those years ago and songs like this are no small part of why it still remains my favourite game to this day.
I love this tune so much but recently replaying xenoblade 2 and re-hearing the tomorrow with you track in certain cutscene's... it actually took my number 1 spot for xenoblade music.
Former choir singer here, and man, you speak the words right out of my own heart! It's just a treasure to hear you react to these beautiful pieces of music. God bless you, man!
Been loving every one of these!!! I am fairly new to your channel but have gone back and watched some of your older content. I was initially introduced to your channel through your first Xenoblade 2 reaction. It’s amazing to see the emotions in your first reaction just I had when I first played the game. Keep up the amazing content!!!
xenoblade 2 would be one of my most favourite rpgs. A game has never made me cry or laugh as much as this game! 10/10, fun fact the composer who does xenoblade music does kingdom hearts music
God this song. I remember starting this game up for the first time. Hearing Piano I decided to just listen to this theme before starting. The best part is as the song picks up the time of day changes. The manado starts to glow in the setting sun. The Nostalgia here is amazing. Thanks for lookin at this one. Its nice to hear it again.
I believe that the Main Theme is the most important piece in any OST and Xenoblade 1‘s Main Theme is amazing. I think it’s my favourite piece in the entire series and my favourite Main Theme in any game. It’s a song that fully prepares you for the journey ahead, it holds so much weight to it and it really never gets old
every time i started streaming this game, i let this song play before i start the game. i allways came home from work, tired, angry or sad. not a great mindset to stream, but after hearing melody i forget what was and am ready to explore my favorite game
I didn't know the composition team behind the Xenoblade Chronicles games before playing them; I mostly knew of the franchise from Super Smash Brothers and seeing people talk about XC1 before it received the switch port. I eventually pulled up the OST and knew this piece was from Yoko Shimomura within the first 15 seconds because I got Kingdom Hearts vibes. Which made me excited about the OST because Yoko Shimomura is *really* freaking good at her job. In all honesty, I think this might be her best piece from a video game. It's absolutely something in her style, but there's a raw emotion present as it keeps cycling through the orchestration right before the end of the song.
The visual that accompanies this theme, on the title screen, is the game's signature weapon, that red sword you'll see if you look the game up, lodged in the ground with a sweeping grassland behind it. The only thing that moves is the grass in the wind, and the sky which changes from night to day. The theme starts during the day, picks up at sunset, and quiets down again at nightfall. It's so simple, but so perfect.
Xc Spoiler This song perfectly describes the game. The start is peaceful but with a hint of saddness. Like the start where shulk and fiora and alone at the park but the saddness when the peace couldnt last. Then it picks up to show shulks determination and fight with the monado, finally at the end it slows down to show the fighting is over. The composers knew what they were doing to make peak fiction
In a good way, I love how we can see you failing to completely move with the music and kind of getting surprised at the twists and turns. Just when you think you know what's coming next, it surprised you anyways. But never in a bad way.
"This song is the swelling and the eruption of feeling something so intensely and then finally having that dip *back to where we were* back to neutral, knowing that we've experienced something in that bubble of intensity and beauty" Ok, now just because of that you have to react to "Where we used to be", XC2's title theme.
Probably the biggest emotional piece of music done for ANY video game ever. Yes, Final Fantasy has "To Zanarkand", "terras theme" and much, much more. There is Zelda and so many other great video game series. But see it like this: The Xenoblade Theme literally describes and carries the game from start to finish. And outside the game it can also be fit into many stages of your personal experiences. Drifting away in your thoughts, having a rough day, have to deal with sadness... this is what makes the theme so different to any other song in a video game. Other themes carry or describe a specific situation or character in the game, but this theme touches your soul with powerful emotions, melodies and a symphony of life experiences.
Since this is the title theme I always get choked up when I boot up the game. After the first time clearing the game when the credits roll and it just leaves you on the title screen with your thoughts... chills
I love Xenoblade music too 💕 You're right music in video games are just absolutely beautiful that with amazing plot is just epic story to tell... one of my favorites is from XC2 Alba Cavanich night theme
Xenoblade Chronicles is my favorite game of all time. This song is so beautiful and has so much more meaning when you finish the game. My boyfriend will be starting the game this weekend so I'm really excited!
This (and Chrono trigger's) is THE title screen song, because it hits you way harder once you finish the game and the title screen changes. By the way, there's a live presentation with a handful of themes/songs that Monolith/Nintendo did for the release of the game on 3DS, if you are interest. My favourite videogame ost by far.
Such a great theme! This is the main reason why the title screen for Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is my favourite title screen in any game, it just blows almost everything else out of the water. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was also great, but it doesn’t do the same things to me that this one does. Xenoblade Chronicles X may come the closest, but just coming down to preference I would say my second favourite title screen is the famous title for Ocarina of Time. If you haven’t, I also recommend taking a look at the visual that goes along with theme, because the visual elements that accompany this song have a very simple brilliance for me that elevates it even beyond what the song does itself.
Thank you for listening to my request! I’m glad you enjoyed it :). This game changed me just like you said. It’s not as good as you think… It’s better. I would definitely recommend finishing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or at least playing it a little more.
Many of my friends ask me why I love the Xenoseries (Xenogears, Xenosaga and Xenoblade) so much. And while storytelling, characters, gameplay, etc, are some of the reasons, my main reason and first answer is the beautiful music. Yasunori Mitsuda, a well known japanese composer, has composed tracks for the Xeno games since Xenogears. Xenoblade Chronicles 1's composers are ACE, Yasunori Mitsuda AND Yoko Shimomura.
4:50 I had this same realization many years ago. Later another hit me: Many of the great classical pieces were commissioned for entertainment by those who could afford it, or simply employed the composers for their talents to let them create the great pieces that their minds forged. Is that so different today? The only oddity is that the majority of these beyond astonishing classic pieces are all coming from Japan, not from Europe.
Hello, it's actually insane how close your guess on the context of the song you've reacted on your video espectially Nier, "Honkai World Diva", and the first half of "Befall". Would love to see your take on Shin Godzilla OST "Persecution of The Masses" and "Who Will Know" since those two songs have a lot to do with perspective. Ah also if you still want to look into Honkai Impact 3rd song there's one called "The Day You Vanished With The Star".
I feel like they intended this title screen to be most fulfilling *after* you beat the game. You finish it and come back to the title screen, reeling from the feeling of completion, and you come back to this song that matches your story. Starting simple and calm, growing in grandeur and glory, everything behind you as you push to the finale, and being halted. Relegated to quiet defiance.
You know, I used to think that Somnus sounded suspiciously similar to this. Than I remembered that Somnus was actually composed years prior to Xenoblade for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, before it was finally used in XV. I wonder if this song was inspired by it, since it was uncertain at the time if Versus XIII and Somnus would ever see the light of day.
When this plays during THAT cutscene…..chills. If you know, you know.
The sheer emotion and impact of that scene makes me tear up every single time. This theme definitely plays a part im that.
YOU WILL KNOW THE PAIN AND SUFFERING YOU CAUSED THE EMPOR AND FIORA
Good! Now you feel it! Swing the blade to your heart's content.

What a beautiful score, wow. I guess i have to play that game now, thanks for the discovery and your reaction!
The xenoblade chronicles series is incredibly good in terms of story, gameplay in general and the games' music are a work of Art
Themes: Engage the Enemy, Counterattack, One Last You, Gormott Day, Torigoth Night, Tantal Day/Night, Gaur Plains Day, Yggdrasil (World Tree Theme), A Place in the Sun,...
❤️❤️❤️❤️
The moment i hear those first few notes, instantly get chills and start crying 💀
Xenoblade chronicles is everything you said and more
I am really happy to see your reaction to this piece.
She also made Guile's Theme for Street Fighter.....COME THE TALENT!!
@@ZealSeraph I want to add that she also composed a game called Last Ranker, it was only released in Japan. So it's even less known, certain tracks in that game are composed in the style of Parasite Eve. Highly recommend 'Infinite Spiral'
I love that you're reacting to more Xenoblade music! You should listen to no3=NO.EX01 from Xenoblade Chronicles X, it's a great Song!
Lets go X!!!
They wanted to go for a different genre than what traditional JRPGs usually lie in, which actually fits X's theme of unfamiliarity on a different planet while humanity is being hunted down
This game has 4 main composers (technically 6 but 3 of them are credited as a team(ACE+))
Lead Composer Yoko Shimomura did this piece and she is literally my favorite video game composer ever.
She also did the entirety of the kingdom hearts franchise and I love her there as well.
I love how she incorporates the piano into so many of her pieces and put so much into making you FEEL something with it.
But she can also do absolutely intense stuff that gets your blood pumping (Take a listen to Unfinished Business from the xenoblade soundtrack)
I will never stop loving her work and want everyone to appreciate it as much as I do.
Man, what a beautiful song. The amount of emotion in this is so powerful, and this is the first song you’ll hear from this game! Absolutely amazing
When I first started the game I sat in title opening for a good 10 hrs before starting the game
A Tragic Decision also from Xenoblade i REALLY great, would be cool if you also reacted to that. I also really like your content.
i finished the game about 3 years ago at this point. to this day i still can’t get through the song fully without crying
I'll never forget the first time i booted this game up on my wii. sat their and listened to this song in its entirety.
Actually my favorite title theme in any video game. I still get goosebumps and even the occasional tear shed.
You finally did it!! And you gave word to all these feelings I've felt and could never properly express, because of such an intense emotional journey.
One of the best title screens ever made, you should watch it :D :D
... and play both games hahahahahah but be minded that those will suck up your life.
The way you tap into the emotion of each piece so fully, such good stuff 🥲👍
After beating this game, I went straight to the main menu
sat for a good hour just remembering each and every second I had while playing this game and all of which, I loved.
All the emotions in this song
🙏🙏🙏
Xenoblade Chronicles is a very emotional journey and a very dramatic story, in a good way. This piece sets the tone for the game immediately.
Its nice to hear it again.
i cried watching your emotion while listening to this song lol. this song, game and experience are definitely a work of art.
thanks for this video!
Next you should react to Sarah Alainns ending theme "Beyond the Sky". Her voice is amazing, as she can sing in over three octaves.
Absolutely beautiful piece
This is my favorite song from my favorite game of all time I'm glad you like the song too
I believe that the Main Theme is the most important piece in any OST and Xenoblade 1‘s Main Theme is amazing.
Xc Spoiler
This song perfectly describes the game.
One of my favorite Yoko Shimomura pieces. Wonderfully moving song
In a good way, I love how we can see you failing to completely move with the music and kind of getting surprised at the twists and turns. Just when you think you know what's coming next, it surprised you anyways. But never in a bad way.
❤️ blind reacts are fun that way.
games are art, not only because the music but also scenarios, graphics, the story, etc.
The best title screen ever made.
"This song is the swelling and the eruption of feeling something so intensely and then finally having that dip *back to where we were* back to neutral, knowing that we've experienced something in that bubble of intensity and beauty"
Ok, now just because of that you have to react to "Where we used to be", XC2's title theme.
If you liked that theme, i suggest checking out Xenoblade 2 and Xenoblade X’s main themes. They’re really really great themes too
This song and "once we part ways" always get me 😢
Since this is the title theme I always get choked up when I boot up the game.
With a main theme like this, you know your heart is going to get ripped in half at least once during the game.
This soundtrack continues to be my favorite among all game OSTs.
"Back to where we were"
Or perhaps even "Where we used to be"?
First Time i launched this game, i listen this music 15-20 Minutes before push the start Burton. It a sign of a great game !
Ah yes the Xenoblade music, this main theme is gorgeous!
You know that Yoko Shimomura nailed this composition when the description of this SONG matches the description of the GAME ITSELF
This masterpiece of a theme is one of, infinite reasons, why I consider Xenoblade Chronicles as my Favorite/Best videogame of all time!
What an awesome piece of music.. great reaction also
Such a great theme!
Ah, memories
Thank you for listening to my request! I’m glad you enjoyed it :). This game changed me just like you said. It’s not as good as you think… It’s better. I would definitely recommend finishing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or at least playing it a little more.
Whenever I start a new run in the game I always stop just to listen to this song. It's mesmerizing to do nothing but contemplating the Monado.
One of my favorite music in games!!
If you played XC1, you recognize that piano on the second note.
One of the best j-rpg of all time!
Ah also if you still want to look into Honkai Impact 3rd song there's one called "The Day You Vanished With The Star".
this music is amazing
I feel like they intended this title screen to be most fulfilling *after* you beat the game. You finish it and come back to the title screen, reeling from the feeling of completion, and you come back to this song that matches your story. Starting simple and calm, growing in grandeur and glory, everything behind you as you push to the finale, and being halted. Relegated to quiet defiance.
4:57
Why I love the music in this video game siries.
I'd love to see your reaction to "The Best Is Yet To Come" from Metal Gear Solid.
3:00 I can't help it, but the violins around this section remind me a tiny bit of what the violins do in the Chrono Trigger/Cross-theme
