Hang in there Captain Emille! It was a great run for the airlines since 9-11, and I hope to see growth again as soon as possible. You are certainly not alone. My son is an FO with a US regional, and they shut down just two weeks ago. Keep your eyes and ears open for work ferrying, or chartering in the equipment you are certified for. Good luck to you Captain!

First off....Congratulations on making Captain. Second....you, me, all of us will survive this downturn. I have been through bad times in the past, not a pandemic, but bad times non the less and have always persevered. You are young, committed, determined and obviously a damn good pilot. Hang in there, someday you will be sitting in the left seat of a jet.

Hey, just stumbled over your channel bcs of your flight sim 2020 footages. Great stuff, ma’am. :)
I appreciate that a lot. Sitting in Germany as an AudioTec without concert sounds to make since February when Covid started. As a hobbyist gliding plan pilot I can imagine how it must affect you being laid off meanwhile. It was my dream since childhood days to become a pilot but you made it. Congrats for your energy. I’m pretty sure you’ve earned everything you’ve achieved.
As a child unfortunately I didn’t decide to stay in Canada at my Grand Parents. I went to Eastern Germany bcs of the beautiful sports schools to play soccer. 5e second most important thing in the universe ;).
Funny if I think over how our decisions sometimes leads us far away from where we “belong to”. Flying is the ultimate “re”-connection with the universe, our offspring.
Your decision to walk straight on your path and make your dreams come true was right and that’s why I’m convinced you’ll make the best out of the situation and gain strength by overcoming it. All the best, @xel.

We will win this battle. We just have to keep patient, wait until it fades out and keep venturing other avenues of our passion. Best of luck 👍

I am late to your channel as I just found it researching flying an flight sims.
I Absolutely love your positive attitude, just know that this isn't the first time the airline industry has taken a significate hit and downturn and yet it always recovers. I am sure all of your viewers as I are wishing you all the best and look forward to hearing how and what your are doing to stay focused and busy.
Not only are you a great ambassador for the airline industry but you also represent Westjet in such a positive as well.
Hopefully this current government gets their **** together and steps up to help out our Canadian airline industry so they can retain the skilled worked needed for a safe and viable airline industry once COVID is under control.
They supported the auto sector when they needed it so why not the airlines now.
I would much prefer seeing people such as yourself employed and supported during these time rather then the wasted billions for their pet projects and friends even if it to keep flight hours and certifications up.
We wish you well , and I am sure your parents have got to be so proud of you and your achievements
    Sincerely

I cant tell you how proud I am that you got through the Captains tests. I dont know what its like in the airline industry, but I know my wife has struggled in the past working in a male dominated industry and I know how hard she worked to try to get ahead. In the end she changed careers because she could not catch a break, even being tops in her class each year and getting a scholarship for her last year as top student. I love seeing women in general do well in places that they are not normally expected to, if you know what I mean. Good on ya Emilie.

Congratulations on your upgrade, I know how that feels.
Before I became a C-141 Flight Engineer in the Air Force, I worked on Flight Simulators stationed in California and Washington. I was in the maintenance and operator side of the B-52, KC-135 and C-130 Flight Sims. I flew all three including the C-141 Sim for a total of over 1,500 hours. Since I was already a pilot in the beginning and then a Commercial Licensed Pilot before I reenlisted, they had me do all the flying of the Simulator to report any of the problems, mostly on third shift. All that experience helped me when I finally started training for C-141 Flight Engineer.

Great video Captain. The description of of the training process you show is very accurate and the emotions that entail are so real. 40 years of commercial aviation, 23 years of the wonderful Dash 8 of around 15000 hrs and I'm sure more than 50 sim training events. Your description of your feelings as you go through your training have been felt by most Airline Pilots.
You have chosen a wonderful profession. The people that you work with and support your flights are like family even if you have never met them. These are tough times for the traveling public but even worse for airline employees.
I have been retired for 5 years and watching some of your vids tugs at my heart.

Emilie you are such an amazing woman!! The accomplishment of becoming a Captain is something you should be so proud of.
The COVID-19 pandemic has definitely created a lot of uncertainty for thousands of people. You are one of the amazingly talented and gifted women who will survive anything. Your personality and enthusiasm will see you through this.
Just know that there are times in life when you will be the one lifting others up, and times when you may need to be lifted up by someone else. The very best part about life is knowing that there are people who are truly genuine and care about other people. Everyone who has subscribed to your channel can see something special and unique about you. Yes that does include me😉!! Please realize that you are not alone, and if you need to talk about your frustrations we are here to support and listen.
COVID-19 has impacted nearly everyone. I actually have to watch patients insert a q-tip an inch into each nostril, and then try not to laugh when they think it is not in far enough. Some people stick the q-tip almost into their brains 😂😂😂😂. The ultimate joy comes from knowing that I helped make another person's day a little bit better by telling them a few days later that they are not infected with COVID-19. Hopefully I can make your day better just by letting you know that you are the coolest female airline captain ever, and if you need to vent please feel free to do so😊

Pilotemilie I hope your working and not furloughed. I use to fly a lot until anxiety overwhelmed my life. I miss traveling so much. I live in Los Angeles with my wife and we’re both retired. I worked in the film post production field for 37 years and helped make many movie’s you’ve probably seen or heard of. Take care of yourself and be safe. I look forward for updates on your life on You-Tube. 🙂

I am so very sorry to hear of your layoff! You've achieved something significant, once an airline Captain, always an airline Captain...even when you have to begin again at another airline! I'm the number one FO at my current company and was a CRJ 200 Captain for 5 years at my first airline. Im sorry you didn't get a full month or two or three of line Captain experience...it seems as though alot happens in that time, good and not so good. 8ve been through 2 furloughs, 1st one, flying 727 200 cargo, i never got called back, but at the second company...my first passenger airline, CRJ 200, I got back...a year after 911 attacks.
The industry goes through alot of ups and downs, but it recovers, evolves, and survives. You will do likewise. You seem to be mature, down to earth and strong. You will come through this! Be flexible, keep flying as best you can if you can...the doors will open again!
In the states, at my company, we are funded through September. October will be the "tell" for airlines in the USA. We are all in this together! You are young, stay social, virtually with Covid19, you will get through this! 😉🙂

I started in the industry in 1978. Boom to bust was the name of the game back then and world economic events will always affect us. Layoffs and airline bankruptcies and mergers were commonplace in those years and many of us became ex-pats to keep the dream alive. Never get depressed folks. The industry cycles and you will be back. In the '80s, there were a lot of AC and CPA seniority numbers driving cabs or back flying floats. Make the best of it, don't forget it but don't let this downturn define nor dissuade you. Cheers, and keep your chin up! This too shall pass.
