I absolutely love the look and feel of this beautiful garden. Jim, please thank these homeowners for letting us all enjoy their mystical, magical, intimate oasis they get to enjoy every day!!
What a beautiful and wonderous garden. It makes me cry and feel utter defeat over my yard which is on the south-southwest-west side of house and backed up against a nasty bermuda grass greenbelt. Got it looking great last spring/summer and along came the big ice storm which took down my trees and the arctic blast that killed all that was left except a yaupon, a saucer magnolia, and a large spirea. I can promise you I will be revisiting this video often, not to cry but to feel close to the wonder of nature until I can re-establish my yard.
Jim, I loved seeing the rest of this gorgeous garden! I also love the fact that the homeowners manage the rain that falls on their property in such a way as to keep it from running into the storm drains. I wish more folks were aware of the harmful effects that urban run-off causes. Please let the owners know how much your viewers appreciate seeing their gardens.
This was INCREDIBLE!!!!! Thank you so much to the owners for allowing us to look into their lovely garden! I found sooooooo much inspiration and information on what to do in my shady areas. AND thank you for sharing about their means to water conservancy; we are dealing with runoff and this gave me ideas of solutions I had no idea existed. Thank you again, I very much look forward to future tours so PLEASE let us come back!
This helps me so much identify what pants will look like using their names, so I can hopefully remember and not just read the card when I buy something. I love it. I believe I will watch this several more times! Many more times! Great job! Beautiful place. Thank you very much!
JIM!! YOU hit it out of the park with this one! My goodness so much to see in every square foot. Everything has been well cared for and aged so gracefully! I love how each area has its own character yet the space is quite cohesive! Ive taken so many notes and will strive to have my space look like this down the road. Thanks sooo much!👀🙌🏾😱💯💯
A beautiful backyard garden oasis! Thank you and the home owners for sharing it with us and I definitely am looking forward to seeing it in its summer splendour. I also loved seeing how they used containers throughout and their art placements and I also loved how you highlighted that it’s achievable without a traditional lawn. Thanks again for posting.
Hi Jim, that backyard was absolutely stunning. Jim, do you know if these people or other houses you have shown have had professional landscape designers plan these gorgeous spaces back in the day or are these homeowners just naturally gifted in that area? If the latter, I am impressed. I am lucky to put a pot combination together. LOL TY for great vid Jim
What a gorgeous garden! I love that they are managing their stormwater on property. Please thank the homeowners for letting us tour. Who is that local artist that did the frog themed piece?
I hope one day to eliminate my lawn and be able to have some beautiful shade areas. My double city lot lost all but one of its antique oaks in an ice storm years ago before I purchased it six years ago but I’ve planted dozens of trees and just over 100 shrubs in that time not to mention roses, clematis, perennials, bulbs and raised beds for 100’s of varieties of dahlias, vegetables and fruit all with the hope of having a space half as amazing as this one. Thanks for sharing and I hope to see more inspirational spaces this year.
What makes this most beautiful is the personal expression of the gardeners - a reflection of them i am guessing. I am beginning to tire of the videos of “perfection” in gardens, where they begin to look like commercial installations, and look sterile. This garden is enchanting and vibrant! Great tour. Thank you.
I'd love to learn more on how to slow down water and the intentional designs that effectively retain that water. In regards to this video, it would have been awesome to know how the water typically flows and then what the present design does to redirect the water or even keeps the water in place. Water management is a new interest of mine and maybe a future video on the topic itself would be helpful with the use of past garden tours as models.
This garden is so very interesting at every turn. Although I’m in zone 5 I can use many of these plants or similar. I’m inspired to plant more carefully to manage water on my property. Thanks Jim. Your content is always excellent.
Wow such a beautiful space! You did a great job showcasing the love and care they put into their garden. I love that they are taking care of the environment through water management and great plant choices too. I do hope they will let you come back in spring and summer to see the space evolve through the seasons.
Truly a labor of love for the owners of this property. Very impressive and thoughtful garden landscape, shows that gardening is never once and done it is always evolving. Love it, thank you for sharing!
I love this! It looks like a garden that tourists would go visit.. I'm turning my front yard into a permaculture garden but it's north facing and shady. This gave me some ideas for interplanting. Thanks!
This garden is just so lovely. Could you do more videos or even a series on how to implement water conservation & how others avoid runoff? I agree that this is such an important topic & needs to be discussed more.
The first vid on this property gave me the courage to define my bed edge around 2 big oaks. Our foundation is brick so instead of stone, I'm looking for old brick for a low, meandering & partially broken "wall". This spring, I found several viola pedata growing in this area. I'm identifying the natives, leaving them & adding more. We identified where water is going under our foundation this weekend, coming off the roof. Using good plant choices ie sweet flag, sensitive fern, lysmachia, will be as important as diverting the flow with grading. I believe in using plants to SOLVE issues, not to CREATE them! Love this garden Jim, would love to know the history of this lot. Tell the owners thanks. Bunches of us got a chance to visit & they didn't have to let us use their bathrooms 😂
Thanks for pointing out the illusion of elevation change in spite of the garden being in a flat space. I need that inspiration here on the TX Panhandle. I'm designing my new garden with no grass to mow, and lots of rocks, gravel. I'm curious over how many yrs this garden has been executed. Such a pleasure.
Such a beautiful garden! I really love when you do these tours of urban neighborhood yards that have just been done beautifully. I'm especially intrigued by the water drainage that the homeowners had done here. You talked about having designed it purposefully to capture the water. I would love to hear more about that, and if you could show some specific ways they did that. I am on a sloped lot on a lake and because of new construction across the road from us I have a real problem with water from there rushing through my yard and straight into the lake. I would love to find ways to slow it down that don't involve riprap! Thanks for your informative videos.
I usually don’t comment but this is such a beautiful and unique garden with lots of creative plant and border ideas! Thank you, Jim, and to the owners! I even saved it to view multiple times in the future. 👒
I completely commend your PSA about slowing down the water in thoughtful ways to allow pollutants to filter out before going into our drainage systems. Well done.
Really beautiful. I am striving for a yard like this. Now I wish I didn’t put down so much travertine; I’m guilty of not promoting good water management. Maybe I can make up for that transgression by planting more trees, azaleas, and other plants. Many of the plants you highlighted I have never heard of before, so thanks for the education!
Great garden designed with green infrastructure in mind for water management- a great example for my Rutgers Environmental Steward, Green Infrastructure, rain garden class.
Love this landscape so much!! I am in 7b pretty much 8a really and I learn so much from this!! Now finding all these wonderful plants is another story! Alabama garden.
I have just discovered your channel. Wow, I'm gobsmacked. I am going to have to exercise extreme self-contol not to binge watch. Thank you for this content.
I absolutely love the look and feel of this beautiful garden. Jim, please thank these homeowners for letting us all enjoy their mystical, magical, intimate oasis they get to enjoy every day!!
I was thinking that about the lawn! None. But so much better...
Wow! One of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen! Thank you Jim and homeowners for sharing this wonderful space!
Thanks for watching
@@JimPutnam Hey Jim thank you so much for knocking on your neighbors door. This is a spectacular garden. Thank you very Inspirational.

Thank you and the homeowners to let us enjoy that beautiful garden.
This is such a beautiful garden. I hope the homeowners allow you to come back and show it again. Thanks for sharing this, Jim!

Is it usual to cut liriope down in the US and why please
Holy Camelia! 🌺😆 This is exactly what I need in my woodland landscape, small patio areas.
😄

This one has definitely been loved

Stunning shade garden-would love to see it in late May. Your channel and deep plant knowledge are inspiring and deeply appreciated. (No lawn!!) ❤️
Likewise. I started taking out a section in my yard lol

I do too!
Love it- the small spaces are so well designed and the dry stack walls that define some elevation are awesome.
You did a wonderful job touring this beautiful garden! I just loved it and really admire all of the special details. Thanks so much.

Beautiful Garden! Stunning! Thank you for sharing!
I wonder if one day my garden might be something like this, "I'll have one of everything". It sounds like someone I know 😄.
So beautiful!
Dutiful garden. It is just curated enough and not overly so. It offers that comfortable feeling that comes with age
Really like that living tunnel introducing you to another garden room!
Me too. There is so much there that I acted like that was just normal! 🤣
This place is like a public garden or resort! Looks so nice to just be in.
This garden is beautiful , Thank You for this video

Fabulous. This yard tour inspired me tremendously. Thank you Jim and homeowners 👏🤗
Beautiful garden. The owners did a lot of work to make that so beautiful and peaceful.
Jim, thank you and the homeowners for sharing such a stunning garden.
What a great property! Would love to hear more about "round 1" and "round 2" of blooming. I've never heard it put that way... can you share more??
We have lots of things that bloom in March and early April. Then they have a ton of summer flowering perennials that take over later in the spring
Jim - Great video, per usual. Please consider doing another video about the water retention techniques you briefly discussed.
Beautiful! I just planted a zephirine drouhin too, so it's nice to see a older one!
Yay!!! I'm so glad you are showing more of this garden, and can't wait for you to follow up on it later. It's just so interesting!!
They’ve created a gorgeous outdoor oasis!!! ❤️

I have a Buford Holly. To see that one so large shows me how much I butcher mine. Wow. That thing was humongous.
