- This planet, from a commercial perspective is off interest in Western Europe, North America and specific countries in Asia. The rest of the planet, - unfortunately - does not have what it takes to be taken seriously. Exceptions exist, but they are the exceptions, not the rule!
REAL LIFE ADVISE FOR REAL PEOPLE.
My intention is to upload content that is going to make you think, how to become a better communicator, how to improve your confidence, persuasion, and sales capabilities in the new digital world we all leave in. Most importantly to develop what I call the “understanding of things”, the relationships and dependencies between people on a complex business environment and what are the triggers for certain choices. We want to see below the surface, where the real decisions are being made.

I tried to start a business in Egypt and here is the summary:
First, the bureaucracy was too much. There were too many hoops to jump through just to get a business license and visa to stay in the country. Second, there was no transparency. Any day, the government could change the laws without warning and the business could be invalid. Third, there wasn't a good market for anything other than common goods and services. There was no room for niche products as people were just trying to get by on the basic necessities. Fourth, there were not enough middle class customers. There were a few rich people and everyone else was relatively poor. So there weren't enough people to buy your stuff. Fifth, if I offered a service, the culture there was people didn't stick with anything. So you couldn't rely on a stable stream of income. Sixth, there was a culture of haggling where everyone tried to nickel and dime you over the price to the point where you couldn't make a profit. Seventh, locals could use their local connections and the government to steal your business ideas and force you out of the market. Government corruption made this easy.

I live in a 3rd world country and we DO have a lot of businesses lol. We have supply chains, factories, restaurants, stores etc. We have so many foreign businesses and franchises coming here. We are most of the world population and those business owners understand *oportunity* in no saturated markets.

The major problem isn't the mentality and the budget, the real problem is the POLICIES that the governments of 3rd world countries make as well as the BUSINESS LAWS because majority of 3rd world countries are rich in NATURAL RESOURCES which they don't even have access too because western companies and corporations bribe the leaders of the 3rd world and if they refuse, they label them a dictator, terrorist and slap severe sanctions on them, it's not that they don't want business and entrepreneurship in their country, it is just that THEY CAN'T even develop their economies even if they wanted too.
There is A LOT of geopolitics and personal interests that hinder investments and business. You must understand that without the resources of 3rd world nations in especially Africa, South America and Central America, then Europe and North America would be Absolutely NOTHING.
Overall, the only way to do business in 3rd world countries is if your business is a sizable business that already has a good following with great brand loyalty, for example, food chains like Pizza Hut and KFC absolutely dominate in 3rd world countries. Never underestimate the soft power that your country has over others, if it comes from Europe or the US, 3rd world citizens will eat it up thinking everything from the west is "high quality" so this is one thing you must take advantage of. Another thing is if your brand is popular in social media because the 3rd world absorbs whatever they see in social media more than the west.
Thank you for your answer. Everything you say is valid. The video gives a "generic" answer. The deeper reasons are ofcourse more complex and vary from country to country. I do not refer to colossal corporations. For example if you are Amazon or Google you are going to do amazing business in Greece. You are going to talk directly with the prime minister, that afterwards is going to distribute the collaboration to his family and friends. My answer is for all the rest. If you are for example a medium, healthy German business, with lets say 100 employees and want to expand in the country, you are going to face such a red tape and unfriendly business environment that at the end you are going to regret your decision.
Those policies are written by Western governments as former Colonialist occupiers. Any time a "third World" country tries to Develop, the USA with its Western Vassals attack it.

The answer is quite straightforward it’s because business attitudes have changed towards western companies. Maybe 20yrs ago even a decade past business doors were readily accessible to western companies. Fast forward today Eastern markets led by China have become dominant in many developing nations because China offers infrastructure that western companies do not. Western companies are being systematically forced out like yours or forced to sell to Chinese firms because of China’s aggressive lobbying compared to western governments. This has ensured pro-Chinese economic policies especially in many nations in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. A good example is that Most minerals necessary for tech companies come from developing countries and China controls over 80% of the world mining ores. You want to do business in third world nations partner up with a Chinese firm.

-Battery systems
-Energy storage
-Photovoltaics supplies
-Automotive
-Logistics

Unless a country is developed enough to be financially stable, starting a business there wouldn't be wise because the economy is not healthy enough for business growth and people won't have the money to support the business.

I have lived most of my life in Greece, which might not be a third world country like Bangladesh, but for business is the 3rd world country of Europe. So... trust me, I know what I am talking.

Thank you for your comment. All physical products that you buy are either made in China, or in India or in another 3rd world country. However this mass production of (most of the times), simple products does not mean that there is a business environment in those countries. Those are mass produced, state driven products and not a result of a healthy economy. In my country, in Greece every some months the government comes out and brags about new investments from huge corporates. If Microsoft for instance invests in Greece, they speak with the prime minister directly, that does not mean Greece has a business culture. It does not. If you go there as a SMB owner to invest, red tape, bureaucracy and corruption will tear you apart.

You have no idea what you're talking about! Africa is diverse with many parts in different counties developing at rates faster than even Greece. It has an abundance of natural resources that even surpass 1st world countries. There are a lot of foreign investors from all around the world who know what levels of success can be achieved here in Africa. DO YOUR RESEARCH WELL BEFORE PUBLISHING SUCH CONTENT

@@cosystudio5822 Actually there are many African companies which have expanded in Europe and Asia MTN group is an example they have a sponsorship deal with Manchester United the 4th richest football club in the world.
Also African companies tend to be focused on catering to there local market. Western companies are exploitative as they seek to under cut and look for cheaper routes to avoid tax and competition in Europe it’s that simple.
According to you what would you consider a third world country as second world country...is Greece Ukraine Hungry a third world country, what about Thailand Vietnam china India Iran and African countries (rich in natural resources)
Business is made in developed western societies. That does not mean that opportunity is not there in Hungary, Greece or India. There is, however the chance is way less than it would be in the UK or US for example.
When making a case out of a subjective experience that you may have had, usually your generalization destroys your logic right from the start. First of all, the 3rd world countries are the world's last frontier for unexplored opportunities. Opportunities to maximize profits. If that's not the definition of business, then you need to be a consultant in something else and not sales whatsoever.

This is an ignorant take on nearly 80% of the world. Learn how to operate in less "advanced" countries. You may learn a thing or two about how peoples and businesses survived before business registration etc was a thing. Now, there are some countries I would never set foot in, but there are many other countries that people called third world that are well on the way to being shining stars.
My comments are generic and not absolute. Through our experience, there is no business in third world countries. There are exceptions, but is better you target North America or Western Europe and a dozen of countries more. The rest, most probably (unfortunately) don't have the budget to invest. Cheers
And it can all be lost in the blink of an eye due to corruption and lack of transparency. At least in 1st world countries you have more rule of law. Also, having to learn how to operate in less advanced countries usually involves learning how to deal with corruption and excessive bureaucracy. Then you have the huge lower class and small middle and upper classes that make up your potential market. You'll spend a whole extra amount of time to get the same results you would in a 1st world. Then there's just setting up a business. If you're in a 3rd world country, this can take many months and thousands of dollars just to set up an LLC let alone fund capital expenses. In my state (the US), I'll pay under $200 to set up the LLC.

What I noticed in my country (Madagascar), the West comes to do outsourcing activities such as call center, writing, transcription... because the salaries are low, they set up their factories there because the materials are cheap there. and abundant. The West prevents the development of developing countries, if we take the example of payment methods like PayPal and Stripe, it is a brake on online business. Certainly there are payment gateways but uncertain.
