Stage 12 : indulging in the imagery or certain archetypes, then drowning yourself in symbolism, varying forms of magic, records disguised as rituals & instructions, and finally the sweet embrace of your inner evil! :D

@@Farvann This is so funny, can’t really do that in Florida. We had a lot of death metal bands here but it’s too hot in the woods and lots of ticks. Not fun. Only works in places that snow I guess.

Level 12: only one of the four albums you bought today were black metal
Level 13: You start exploring southern Hiphop
Level 14: Back to black metal 80% of the time
Level 15: Disconnecting completely from any Metal music for like 4 months and going back to those high school Trance/Techno tunes with some New Wave, 70s Rock is optional
Level 16: Making peace again with Metal, but only with Heavy and Death Metal and pretending Black Metal doesn't exist
Level 17: Randomly waking up starving for Dissection and Immortal out of nowhere
Level 18: It's official, back to Black Metal...
And the circle repeats, I'm on the Level 18 now and slowly drifting to Level 15 for the third time

Sunbather was my first black metal band ever, really good to get me used to the genre
@@Silverdynamix check out Obsidian Tongue amd Wolves in the Throneroom, they are certainly both close to Sunbather but can branch off different ways, Spotify's autoplay after an album is a great way to find similar stuff after albums by either as well.
I am all of the above, and still liking black metal, although my standards to like a band are raised, of course. And listening to a lot of different music is true indeed.

You missed the part from the beginning when you listen to it and go "uughh, disgusting" then keep coming to it until you eventually like it.

So if I listen to Darkthrone 666 more times then I'll level up, right?
Although Darkthrone is my favorite band, you get low amounts of XP for each listen so it's not really the best way to level up. I suggest farming Raw Black Metal bands since they're pretty much the most obscure ones so they hand fat XP per listen. If you reach the point where your char. is strong enough, you can even venture throughout the dangerous realms of Black Ambient, that's where the end-game loot is.
@@vonbl3 This strategy seems really good. But i reccomend searching for Raw black metal bands who only released one demo in the 90' and dissapeared. You get the most XP that way because no one can call you a poser if they don't know the bands you are listening to.

That's exactly how I got into Black Metal.

I was already a metalhead but didn't listen to much black metal ... I basically went through all of these stages in two days and now I'm in the deep end. Even working on my own project lmfao you're spot on. BM becoming my favorite metal.

let's try ways of getting into black metal. some people just turned into black metal by gateway bands like Cradle of Filth, venom ...
some just because of the fashion and style and never ever listened to any actual black metal song except freezing moon of mayhem
some because of Death metal, even some people because of dungeon synth and some because of Vargs and Euronymous drama, and...
I'm slowly getting into black metal because it seems like the next step down. I started with hard rock, moved on to Sabaton, then onto old school heavy and thrash metal, then onto thrash revival, then death metal, then goth metal, and now black metal, as it's the darkest genre yet for me.

Hah, been in the same situation before. One time was accompanied by other fellow latam black metal heads but with much darker skin (I'm pale) and we all decided to bail quick and not speak Spanish to each other, weird as all hell when it gets like that.
