One of the things i've noticed about actual metal fans is that they can appreciate music as a whole. Sure, their preference is metal but they appreciate any kind of well written and performed music. Be it classic, 60's, 70's basically any music as long as it is well done.
True to an extent, yet I've met people that are insanely obsessed with just one genre of metal only. It's sad because they're missing out on so much great music.
Being a metalhead doesn't involve with one simple lyric it's the entire songs you hear or have interest to be you. I've been into heavy rock or any kind aince I was little, a teen and as adult 🙏
Exactly. Personally I mostly listen to thrash and heavy metal but I can appreciate power, death, black etc. I also love classic rock and heavy rock as well as literally anything else that derived from blues, including blues. It's why I can't stand elitists, there is no need to be an asshole because someone likes something different to you.
I am so happy to see her again, I love you both, and also I can't wait to see new videos with her. Finding good content related to metal and alternative communities in general can be hard sometimes, but I'm glad I found your channel, definetly different from the rest of cringy videos out there lol.
Dimmu Borgir are not racist. They said some stupid crap as teenagers-as most of them did-but didn’t grow up to promote fascism or racism. As of today, they’re a bunch of comfy mainstream success stories who enjoy a global audience and make fun of evangelicals.
I've never heard Vreid say anything about race. The song that was playing in the background is called "Noen å hate"(Someone to hate), and is a cover of the Norwegian band Raga Rockers.
Yeah its like you say, you have to be able to separate the artist and the music. Just because one member of a band has said or done something bad (like being explicitly racist), does not mean that you should boycott the whole band in general. Let's be real, that is very unfair to the rest of the band that didn't say anything racist etc. You should't judge and punish a whole group of people, because one person did something wrong.
Im glad I’m staying away from social media platforms like TikTok. I’ve never heard about those cringe weird BM videos and I’m glad I haven’t before watching your video…
Dude. Metal music (Thrash metal in my case) is extremely political, “don’t tired on me” by Metallica is literally about about defending personal liberties (or the American revolution if you are a history buff) yeah..
I literally had a conversation with my boyfriend YESTERDAY about how I am sick of seeing videos of young people giving black metal history like WE DONT ALL ALREADY KNOW THE STORY. *Facepalm* CONGRATULATIONS KIDDIES YOU DID YOUR HOMEWORK.
Im 28 just geting in to bm now ive listened alot to hc, grind and other genres so i apreciate all the videos about bm as not many other genres has such rich histories and controversies
"keep metal out of politics" is kinda like arguing to keep politics out of politics. The genre is extremely broad, but it's also a soundboard for anything "extreme," which leaves room for people with views from every side of any discussion. On average, the metalhead community is more tolerant and accepting than most subcultures, it's a product of diversity within the genre, but even being tolerant of other people in and of itself is a socio-ethical and political decision. Almost every metal band is grounded in political allegory and it's been that way since Black Sabbath. The decision to be unpolitical is a political decision, evident in more absurdist lyrical bands. However, I think it's important to take a lot of stuff on just a song by song basis; if you don't want to support a certain artist because you think the band members are shoddy people, that's anybody's right.
People really gotta learn to separate the art from the artist it seems, like the song is good Idc about their personal views I don’t have to like or condone their actions to enjoy their music, a lot of these ppl just haven’t delved deep into research yet :/
@@johnscambles5609 oh like of course Racism is a huge problem in pretty much all things and should be addressed, I’m just saying in terms of actual songs ppl should just be allowed to like what they like
Watching your girlfriend about to fall asleep from boredom made my ADHD brain connect on soooo many levels :D (And tiktok is poison and should be destroyed!)
Music always has been and always will be political. You should actually listen to the lyrics, sometime. Megadeth's "Countdown to Extinction" is one of the most political albums by any band. Maiden and Testament are pretty political, too.
It's more about not adding very specific modern political topics to the music scene. Megadeth's lyrics primarily have an anti-war message, something everyone can agree with and still retains relevancy to this day. The same with Iron Maiden. Labeling bands as racist, even when the band doesn't use a racist aesthetic or has racist lyrics, is when it enters into the realm of toxic politics that has no other objective than to tear down bands just because one member said something while drunk a year ago. Lyrics can obviously have political themes, but the fans bringing in their own politics and bashing others over the head with it is what ruins the scene for everyone.
It’s difficult to seperate racism from music as a brown person wanting to go to shows. It’d be a hell of a lot easier and less conflicting if band members weren’t racist 😅
he is semi racist. he's antisemite and doesn't believe different races should breed with one another. Literally seen it come right out of his mouth in interviews. I am anti zionist for sure.
Well the man behind Burzum is Christian Vikernes, aka Varg Vikernes. The character he portrays when he does Burzum is Count Grishnakh and it is just a character. Nationalism is not interchangeable with Nazism, to be proud of your heritage is not to be racist. Racism will absolutely persist in black metal, because it is adversarial music, it's supposed to evoke feelings of hatred, you're not supposed to support the ideology, you're not necessarily meant to agree with the message, because the message does not come from a real person, it comes from a created character. Do people think that George Lucas is evil? I mean he created Darth Sidious, is Tolkien evil? He created Morgoth and Sauron... Black metal is a lot more complicated than people realise, all those "Satanists" that created the genre, were happy to talk about celebrating Christian holidays, why? Because they never were Satanists in the first place... Same applies to the NSBM scene and any artist that is in that scene that tells you otherwise, is merely trying to pull the wool over your eyes and maintain suspension of disbelief... 🤷🏼♂️
Hi Boris and GF; the guy around 3.45 was hinting at Jim Henson's Muppet Show in the 70s and two of their most charismatic characters ; as you are too young for the 70s, here's a good exercise - find it yourself why those two characters were suitable to opine on Black Metal (hint: especially First Wave!). Dig it!
You just can't separate music from politics, specially because music has been the most powerful political instrument and metal was born as an expression of political rebellion. It saddens me a lot to know that the extreme right has a presence in metal!
Subscribed recently, love your channel. Was cool seeing you together. Thanks for the video, now I know what mfs who get black metal shows cancelled look like. Cheers from Belarus!
