Paramount is really investing into this rendition of the turtles, theirs a series coming to paramount plus with the same voice actors, a game being made, and a sequel in development. Love that the turtles are actually teens here, and maybe we get to see them grow up a bit throughout future installments
my favorite part about this movie is the fact they talk like actual teenagers and *are* actual teenagers. they are just so endearing and I felt really happy when i realized they were acting like how real teenagers act, like they act like me.
my only criticism is that they almost talk the same way. hopefully in the sequels, their individual personalities will be explored more. i like how in the 2012 series, the dynamic between each pair of turtles are different. such as mikey always pranking raph and raph playfully bullying mikey in return.
Eric's point about the turtles being scared/nervous (aside from Raph) during their first fight was something I REALLY liked too. Like, I always thought it'd make sense for them to be nervous and stumble a bit during their first real fight. Of course they'd adapt and kick ass, but that's not without some nerves getting in the way too.
I loved that the villains reformed and joined the family! That way the Turtles can have extended family outside Splinter who they can relate to as mutants, while still finally entering the human world!
The only thing I'm kinda sad about is I wanted to see Bebop and Rocksteady stay more on the evil side. Having them turn so quickly to be good guys feels weird since they were pretty much always a problem for the turtles in the animated show, and were long-time baddies.
@@Konitama In the original show and etc Bebop and rock steady are criminals who are mutated to be rang and or Shredders super soldiers here they were born mutants so they don’t have that criminal background
The kickass Nine Inch Nails sound score that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross brought to this doesn’t get enough praise. The 90’s hip-hop picks are perfect but the score is equally great imo.
David hirschfelder Score From Legend Of The Guardians The Owls Of Ga'Hoole It's Is Score From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem 2 Meet Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross
One of the best TMNT adaptations. The animation, the characters, the fight choreography, and the fact that they were voiced by actual teenagers are all awesome, and I love how they really focused on the turtles and Splinter as a family over them as ninjas.
The absolute best adaptation of the TMNT EVER! The animation style, the writing, voice acting, direction, soundtrack, everything’s flawless! And on top of that you have Splinter played by Jackie Chan, fighting like Jackie chan. I really regret not seeing this movie in a packed theater.
i say that the 2012 series was the best adaptation because it really nailed the individual personalities of the turtles and also differentiated the dynamic between each pair of brothers. the fight choreography was also better.
I just love that when Donnie is telling the plan at the end Mikey replies with "Yes, and-" because he's channeling his will to join the improv club lmao
Funny how Seth Rogen always works in popular modern action media. He was in The Boys, Invincible, and now This. He might be saving the action media as a whole
Oh come on Eric! You can't have the TMNT without Shredder so having him as the end credit totally fit! Also the film is so good, it WILL definitely get a sequel for sure!
I get what Eric means about this feeling more individual. However that exactly why we’d need to see their interpretation of Shredder, because they won’t use him like a crutch. (Also, based on how they talk about him, this Shredder is probably a mercenary/hitman.)
I feel like some of the things they mentioned, like the Turtles feeling more like Teenagers, the older-younger sibling dynamic, and April being a teenager, were also elements of the 2012 series and Rise, although this version does actively do more to double down on the Teenage aspect
Love the reaction! The music is what the kids are listening to? Lol, no you guys aren't old- hip-hop just seems to be in your blind spot. Most of it was classic hip-hop songs that Seth Rogen probably listened to when he was a kid. And shout out to the score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross
I know you guys have a packed schedule, but an animation you should absolutely review is the 2003 TMNT series. I recently finished S1 & got nostalgia from playing the PS2 game. I also hear it got the most stuff right about the Turtles. The 2012 show is highly praised as well. There’s several superhero animations I hope you eventually get to, like: - The Spectacular Spider-Man - The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes - X-Men: TAS - the rest of the DCAU (Batman: TAS to Justice League Unlimited) - The Dark Knight Returns - Batman: The Long Halloween - JL: Crisis on Two Earths
Omg I would die if they did these shows, but remove the old Xmen series for Wolverine and the Xmen. Nothing against the og show, but I think it fit into EMH and Spectacular Spider Man better
i grew up on 2003 tmnt and to me, it's the best one. It's dark, funny, and the storyline is AMAZING. I rewatch it often on youtube. Plus the theme song slaps.
While I'll admit I get snatched by the post-credit fanservice with Shreddar, the MAIN thing I like about the end credit thing is the acknowledgement that the turtles are harder to get because they have a public presence now (or at least are noticeable in the public). It's a neat detail for them think, "Well we can't just GRAB them now."
Joel Edgerton Is Voice Of Metalbeak and Actor From The Great Gatsby and Vector The Crocodile and Shredder In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem 2 2026
I like this adaptation. People were complaining about April and her character art style, but she fits the universe, just like the older beautiful April fits the other universe
You guys definitely need to check out the 2012 Turtles. It was my introduction to them and it incorporates all of the previous material that came before it while still having its own unique story
@@kadegetslaid634 Yeah in other stories he's actually raised by Hamato Yoshi who is a Japanese martial arts master... they clearly didn't go with that storyline here seeing as how Splinter just raised himself and learned martial arts through videos lol
I loved how they explored the brother/teen dynamics in this one. The turtles felt vulnerable during their first fight, makes you scared about if they can square up to The Shredder
I think as far as TMNT adaptations go, this is the one that does the “Teenage” part the best. Helps that the 4 were also all voiced by teenager actors.
some real cool things about this rendition of the turtles 1. Donnie;’s younger voice works as there are a lot of teens who sound younger cause they haven’t hit puberty yet It also really works well with his personality 2. I like How Ralph’s anger is more just teen anger/angst that goes untreated, but it’s treated as a personality flaw like previous version have it, where ralph is so angry he will openly right with or rebuke his brothers 3. Leo being the favourite son, but also trying to eek his way as leader, is great. 4. I like how Mikey isn’t too much the surfer bro cliche, and instead has a bit more of the helpful, eager to please personality
3:11 The animation/art-style for this movie/universe is kind of like oil painting / graffiti but mostly mixed, fused and influenced by middle and high school notebook sketches, Seeking to be based off the teenager aspect of imperfect drawings and also the story being as an allegory for teenage identity, explores themes of acceptance and desires to fit in as the filmmakers drew inspiration from teenage coming-of-age films to make the turtles feel relatable as actual teens and be voiced by actual teenagers. FINAAAALLLYYY IVE BEEN WAITIN FOR YALL TO WATCH THIS FOR MONTHS!! For real this movie is absolute perfection with its fight chronography and humor, and it’s by far my favorite of the year
I liked this movie, but nothing beats the 1990 movie. I just watched it yesterday, and it MORE than holds up today. I think I like it more now than I did when I originally saw it when I was 5 years old on VHS
I've only seen the Michael Bay films and the 2012 series since those released during my childhood. But this is my favorite so far! The voices are different but I grew to like it because the chemistry and humor is just SO good!
I would love to see you guys do a turtles show reaction. My favorite part about this franchise is how they constantly reinvent origins, characters, and storylines. Any of the four cartoons would be a great place to start since they are all good and unique.
I genuinely enjoyed this movie so much. I hope it got all the love it deserved and I am so keen for a sequel. Love your reactions as always! Mondo kills me every time 😂
I also think he forgot that the post credit scene included the turtles finding their place in high school and April and Leonardo working on finding TCRI. It was much more than the Shredder appearance.
I totally get Eric's feeling about the post-credit scene. I'm excited to see Shredder and I excited to see a sequel to Mutant Mayhem, however this movie felt so unique and special it doesn't need a "oh boy look what's coming next!" scene to make me want more. We all know that there is more to come, we know TMNT is a franchise but I don't want the movie to tell me that. A post-credit scene about a normal situation at school which is totally new and weird to the Turtles could be fun, whatever the movie is great!
Something my Wife and I noticed as we left the theater and were looking at casting on Google was that the Cynthia's (the head scientist from the TCRI and co-antagonist of the movie) has a VERY interesting last name and should not be overlooked. I dont want to spoil any surprises for anyone if Paramount is hoping for it to be a "reveal". But for whoever wants to do their own research, feel free, its an awesome little detail the filmakers put in the movie.
At least one of the writers was my kinda nerd. Repeated references to AOT, some great XCOM ones (the snake mutant was literally just a Viper from xcom 2 and in the same scene the security guards were designed after Advent Officers, even doing the exact "pulling out a stunrod" animation from the game), and a quick Akira callout at the end.
You guys should watch the Rise of the TMNT movie, it's probably the best TMNT movie out there, and it would be cool if you also watched the series, as well as maybe the 2003 and the 2012 TMNT series! I would definitely love to see you watch those!

The animated movies are by the original creators who split from netflix and the live action because of a lack of freedom. I love how they did a Jackie Chan fight scene in animation 😂this is one of the best TmNT movies ever love it and they put a spin on how it went loved all the voice cast & the 2003 series is still my fav along with the multiverse movie they had
Just posing a question for Eric's minor gripe about the post credit scene, like he said nbd. BUT im curious if he feels the same way about Nolan's Batman Begins setting up the Joker with the calling card moment at the end. Feels very much in that same vein of line saving the major villain for the sequel.
Would love to see you guys react to the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Great show that many fans didnt give a chance and the movie is epic.
An animated story that definitely won't disappoint you, is Troll hunters: tales of arcadia! Vastly underrated show created by Guillermo del Toro!!! Need I say more. It has every thing more people need to show this series some love.
I really dug this. Although I've dug every single TMNT movie thus far. The word canon has just felt like a different timeline for a long time now. So it feels more meaningless than ever when folks try and use it nowadays . Everything is canon to their own story/universe/iteration.
I knew this was coming, especially after the normies and Yaboyroshi did it 😂 😂. Now y'all just need to do Puss in Boots last wish 😆 😆. Also, the 2012 version of TMNT (that was the first adaptation to portray them as teens) is just waiting for y'all to react too 😄 😄.
Honestly fine with it. Sure maybe "rizz" won't stick around, but it's bound to happen when you're telling a story about teenagers in a certain timeline. It felt way more organic/natural for them to be making modern day references and using that slang instead of trying to write a story that is timeless, which would lack that sense of grounded realism this movie did so well. I mean teens don't really say "tubular" and "radical" anymore either, but we can still enjoy the classic Turtles movies/shows for what they are.

I love how they did a Jackie Chan fight scene in animation 😂this is one of the best TmNT movies ever love it and they put a spin on how it went loved all the voice cast & the 2003 series is still my fav along with the multiverse movie they had
I appreciate the music being aimed squarely at 80s/90s kids 😊
I have been waiting for this reaction for FOREVER
Am I the only one whose favorite turtle movie is TMNT (2007)?
Thats my favourite too. It might be because it was my introduction to TMNT or nostalgia but i absolutely love that
No u r not alone.
I have JUST NOW realised the TCRI woman is dressed as Krang's body.
Best animated TMNT movie I've ever watched.
Just posing a question for Eric's minor gripe about the post credit scene, like he said nbd. BUT im curious if he feels the same way about Nolan's Batman Begins setting up the Joker with the calling card moment at the end. Feels very much in that same vein of line saving the major villain for the sequel.
He must have hated the post credits scene for Pattinson's Batman lol
Would love to see you guys react to the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Great show that many fans didnt give a chance and the movie is epic.
An animated story that definitely won't disappoint you, is Troll hunters: tales of arcadia! Vastly underrated show created by Guillermo del Toro!!! Need I say more. It has every thing more people need to show this series some love.
12:29 GO NINJA GO
I love the part with Shredder.
I really dug this. Although I've dug every single TMNT movie thus far. The word canon has just felt like a different timeline for a long time now. So it feels more meaningless than ever when folks try and use it nowadays . Everything is canon to their own story/universe/iteration.
The Second Michael Bay movie is better than the first one
41:10 NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE RESOLVE OF A MINIMUM WAGE WORKER!
was that the heman version of whats going on?
I knew this was coming, especially after the normies and Yaboyroshi did it 😂 😂. Now y'all just need to do Puss in Boots last wish 😆 😆. Also, the 2012 version of TMNT (that was the first adaptation to portray them as teens) is just waiting for y'all to react too 😄 😄.
would LOVE reactions to the original trilogy and TMNT 2007!
I feel like the only real thing that will really date this movie is some of the humor.
@@Konitama You could say they learned those from movies they watched.
@@Konitamadid anyone actually say tubular? 💀
