If I played in the female team, I'd kick their asses. If I played on the men's team, I could be comfortable, but would they? Personally, I think CO-Ed sports are important. There is no internal feeling that is exclusive to men or women (or boys/girls), what makes anyone a man or a woman is being either male or female and reaching adulthood. Their sex and stage of physical maturity makes them men or women, not some "feeling" they have.
      Believing there is some "essence" specific to males or female as far as feelings go, that can manifest "in the wrong body", is akin to a religious belief, having faith in something that is impossible to prove or disprove. The thing is though, that no one on the "trans" side can actually even explain what this "essence" is, they can't even explain it to themselves yet have convinced themselves that the feeling they have means they "are in the wrong body" - without realising that their discomfort simply stems from not realising that they view conforming to sexist stereotypes as legitimate measures of manhood or womanhood. That is why every explanation given of WHY a male "can't be a man, but is instead woman" etc. relies upon listing stereotypical stuff, or, in some cases is completely abstract and refuses to actually provide any explanation of what they mean, simply stating they "know" that what they feel means what they say it does, even though they can't actually provide a definition of it. "It's hard to explain but I know I'm right" is an attitude one constantly comes up against - a religious faith in something they can't define.
      This idea that the terms "man" and "woman" carry all this baggage, sexist stereotypes, that people need to live up to or feel comfortable with is a complete fabrication coming from the "trans" side. You lot want a term to reflect aspects of your personality as well, you want to create more boxes to put people in, as you won't accept simply just being a man or a woman based on being born male or female (and reaching adulthood, obviously people are boys and girls before becoming men or women), but believe you need this "freedom of expression" to broadcast what sexist stereotypes you feel more comfortable with - thinking the world needs to adopt the sexist view you lot have (you fail to see just how much you have in common with Conservatives).
      Replacing objective definitions which are based in physical reality, with entirely subjective metaphysical claims, is not logical in any way, is not morally superior, and is demonstrably harmful, not least to female rights and protections, but also to practically anyone that buys into it as it warps people's perception of the underlying issues. It hinders people in their quest for individuation, creating this false narrative of them becoming more "authentic" when the total opposite is true, they believe they need validation from others in order to be happy etc. instead of being encouraged to find more inner strength and resilience with less reliance on how people see them. Demanding to be legally recognised as the opposite sex of what one is, is in no way shape or form more authentic than accepting the physical reality one is born into.
      This "woman is a social construct" thing IS the part that validates and perpetuates sexist stereotypes - woman isn't a social construct in that sense, it is a word society has chosen yes, but to describe a PHYSICAL state of being, not anyone's emotional states or where they fall on some spectrum of masculinity or femininity. There is a fundamental misunderstanding here of what the definition of man and woman means. The notion that people need to live up to sexist stereotypes of what "real men" or "real women" are, is complete fantasy. The fact that many people act as if sexist stereotypes were valid ways of measuring "real men" or real women" is a problem with the individual and their sexist bias, not with the terms themselves, as the terms themselves have none of the expectational baggage that people who internalise sexist stereotypes associate with them.
      A woman, is an adult human female, it is not an "identity" or a feeling, dress, attitude etc., that whole line of thinking is regressive in the extreme. Claiming there is some "essence" to "womanhood" that also males can access, but the reality is that women do not have to look or act any certain way, or act out some ludicrously sexist idea of the “social role of a woman”, all females who reach adulthood are women regardless of how they feel or look, and the one thing they ALL have in common, the one experience they ALL share, is that they are FEMALE, they do not have to "identify" as anything, they physically ARE women because they are female.
      Why should MALES be allowed access to SINGLE-SEX spaces/sports reserved for FEMALES based on their "gender identity"? If sex and gender are separate, then a male announcing his "gender identity" is "trans woman" does nothing to change their sex, they are still MALE - so why should they be afforded rights reserved for the opposite SEX? The movement is regressively sexist, and misogynistic.
      Why do you believe females do not deserve any spaces free of males? What is hateful about upholding female sex-based rights that were fought long and hard for?
      Believing sexist stereotypes define men and women, instead of their biological sex, is unquestionably sexist to the core, because you are saying men and women are not actually free to behave however they want but need to conform to these sexist stereotypes in order to be men or women - if you say no they don't have to act any sort of way as a man or woman, and being a man or woman has nothing to do with biology - then what are you describing by calling someone a man or woman? If you think it doesn't describe biology, and doesn't describe anything about their looks or behaviour, then what on earth are you basing defining anyone as a man or woman on??? Why would a man need to become a "trans woman" in order to be their "authentic selves", why can't they just be a very feminine man and dress/act however they want?

    I’m 1:41 in and already I’m realising the the biggest issue with this whole thing is no one reads the medical data. The reason British Cycling moved to ban trans women in women’s competition was because they did further research and felt that in their sport a year of HRT was not enough to nullify the advantage an athlete got from male puberty. Further research is being conducted but it is happening in a sport by sport basis, which is fair.

    • @rachele183
      @rachele183 6 месяцев назад +31

      It was also due to focus groups just asking people what they thought in a community that is not known for being kind towards trans women which was their main statement on the news when they announced it
      There was also alot of criticism on the study they did as there is simply not enough significant data due to lack of trans women competing to reach much conclusion and outright ban and trans cyclists such as Emily Bridges were already parcipating in a study that was leading towards the opposite conclusion as their study
      Also the olympic regulation has always been 2 years of hrt before competing where it is know there is little biological benefit after that time period
      So it's odd they studied on one year and decided that's final and ban them no matter how long right?

      @@rachele183 are you implying that female cyclists are not known for being friendly towards trans women? Because from the Sky News announcement they only asked other women competitors.
      You’re not wrong on that point, however as pointed out in this video there will probably not be any significant data for several decades if we are going just by pure numbers because their just are not that many trans athletes competing and there probably never will be going by demographics if that stays the same as it is now.
      The Olympics want the individual sporting bodies to regulate their own sports with their own studies, while it has it’s own opinions it is only a competition at the end of the day not a governing body. If it was then sports like synchronised swimming and boxing wouldn’t have been single sex for so long.
      If you go back and watch both the British Cycling and World Athletics announcement they both say they they are conducting further studies and open to more data. Going by the British Cycling announcement thought it seems clear to me they were most worried about legal challenges, I’m guessing from “cis” women, which is why they rushed into these bans.

      @@isoutoforbit first off I’m a woman and second off I’m very open to new data and studies proving me wrong. I gain no pleasure from seeing people be excluded because sport participation is a human right.
      In an argument it’s the group challenging the status quo who present the data technically, however the point of my comment wasn’t to reference any particular study but to point out that what she said was inaccurate. These governing bodies changed their policies due to doing their own studies. The same can’t be said for these states and their new anti trans laws which from what I can see are mostly political posturing.
      Each sport has a duty to do their own research and come to their own conclusions. For example the ISU didn’t change their trans inclusion policy and their will be many sports that won’t have to either.

    i'm in full support of trans people in their transition and the overall decision to be more of who they are inside, but a big point i have as to trans athletes, specifically MtF, participating in leagues of their assigned gender is the fact that, most major sports leagues like the NBA and the NFL already have no restrictions on gender yet they are male dominated. if there was no disadvantage to being born a female over male, the WNBA would not exist at all because any woman can qualify for the NBA, but none of them can even compete and that's why we need an entirely different league.

    As a trans woman I would like to share my opinion if that's okay with the general public. I wouldn't go as far to say that trans women are cheating or that they should be banned from sports, but I do think that all athletes, trans or cis, should complete against other persons that match them in physical endurance, strength, and skill. To compete against someone that is lesser in any of these aspects is an unfair advantage over your opponent. This is why certain sports have different classes depending on the physical build of the athlete. If a cis woman has the physical build of a cis male then she should compete against those athletes. Same for a trans woman and vice versa for cis men who have a physical build of a cis woman. Same for trans men. Sports aren't really about showcasing your individuality, their about showcasing a specific set of skills. Unless it's an artistic sport like dancing or something like that, then it really doesn't matter that much.

    Interesting to hear their opinions on this. Surprising... to hear the lack of understanding of human biology from athletes!
    If a biological male goes through puberty they have many irreversible advantages over biological females; Thicker and stronger bone density throughout the body. A different muscle make-up, with more fast twitch muscle fibers overall. Larger lungs and heart. Longer limbs. Hip structure looks and works differently. Larger shoulders. Much stronger jaw bone. Larger hands and feet. Larger esophagus.
    So leaving testosterone aside, a biological male who goes thru puberty has many advantages. Only some listed here.

      That's false. The reason why black people are naturally stronger is not because of american slavery, it's because they evolved in a bit of a different way. Africa is full of wild and dangerous animals and most of those people had to resort to more "barbaric" stuff in order to survive for a long amount of years. American slavery lasted about 90 years, which is not nearly enough to 'evolve' in such way. What if black people weren’t allowed to speak because they were seen as uncivilized? (Much like how you see transphobes as uncivilized.)
      What if women still weren’t allowed to speak or vote due to being seen as inferior?

Transphobes are not the same as black people, women or scientists because while they were speaking for their rights and facts, transphobes are speaking against rights and only take parts of things to back up their claim and deny things when given clear evidence. • @synchronium24
      @synchronium24 6 месяцев назад +18

      @@cherrylk4188 Winning shouldn't be the standard, but when that does happen it underscores the point. What is a much more telling metric is how trans women perform when competing in the men's division versus the women's division. The performances should be approximately the same if trans women have no athletic advantages. With that in mind, let's consider the example of Lia Thomas. "By the conclusion of Thomas's swimming career at UPenn in 2022, her rank had moved from 65th on the men's team to 1st on the women's team in the 500-yard freestyle, and 554th on the men's team to 5th on the women's team in the 200-yard freestyle." If that isn't unfair, nothing is unfair.
      Whereas you don't see any trans men dominating men's sports. Because just as male to female transition only partially compensates for male athletic advantage, female to male transition only partially compensates for female disadvantage.

    Did she really just say “name one trans woman athlete who has won a single event?” Listen, I think everyone should be able to compete, but allowing trans women who have gone through a full puberty (or even a partial one) to compete against women (biological females) is simply unfair. Biological males have larger, longer, denser bones, more muscle mass, way more fast-twitch muscle fibres (those responsible for those powerful bursts of force/energy), bigger hands and feet, larger hearts and lungs, greater oxygen carrying capacity, narrower pelvises that result in a different centre of gravity that proves to be advantageous in cycling, specifically, than women. And all of the above provide an advantage in any sport that requires speed, power, strength and endurance. It’s simply reality, and it’s exactly why we separated the sexed in sport to begin with, the goal being women being able to compete and actually win. Allowing trans women (with biologically male bodies) to compete in women’s sports isn’t inclusive when it comes at the cost of women being able to compete. Identities don’t compete, bodies do.

    • @Izzy-wl7gl
      @Izzy-wl7gl Месяц назад +1

      And sports already accounts for that. Many cisgender women are blocked from competing because of the regulations on testosterone levels and other natural advantages some women have. Trans women are held to the same standards as every other woman, which is why you don't see a giant wave of trans women winning every sport. If a trans woman is allowed to compete in proffesional sports, it's because she is at the same regulated level as her opponents. And if its just recreational sport, it doesnt matter. But no matter what you think on this debate, this is also a great argument for puberty blockers! Allow more time for trans girls to decide what they want in life before they have to undo any advantages they gain in male puberty
