Ain't gonna be no call off persuit down there in AR. Missouri cops just to the north of AR are the same way where I live; I watched a cop chase two crotch rockets down the Country Club plaza in KC while there were hundreds of Christmas shopper pedestrians (including me a my gf at the time) everywhere; people were jumping out of the way. It was absolutely nuts! Cop car came so close to me that the wind off the car nearly knocked me off balance. I'm pretty sure the bikes won though because they had the advantage of quick speed and could maneuver in the turns on surface streets better w/out slowing.

The guy saying he had a "legitimate reason" for speeding (and evading, but that's never a good idea) reminded me of a story from a cop I knew: The cop stopped a guy for speeding, guy pulled over, turned out the guy was an ER doctor who had been called into work to deal with injuries from a massive crash that same cop had attended to not long before. Long story short, verbal warning and the cop escorted him (lights and sirens) to the hospital. 👍

Similar deal for my uncle a few decades back. Central London, England. A construction site accident means a guy gets cement dust in his eyes. The nation's leading eye hospital was several miles away, and the clock on this guy's eyesight is ticking. My uncle jammed him in the passenger seat of his sports car (a Jensen) and took off like the proverbial bat out of Hell. A police car got on his tail, my uncle stopped, yelled the name of the hospital, that the guy has cement dust in his eyes and he's going blind. He had a rough time going fast enough to keep up with the police escort. IIRC, there was some eye damage, but the guy's eyes were saved.

I was on Fry Street and as I was heading back towards base, I was almost t-boned by a Cadillac El Dorado, and he was followed by at least six police vehicles. With the weight shift, the rear tires wind up easily locking and smoking when the fronts have all the traction and do not lock since most vehicles have anti-lock brakes. Trust me, if those vehicles had badly faded brakes, they would not stop or slow down at all. It takes a LOT more than you think to take brakes to the heat induced fading performance point.
