As a bears fan, I am jealous of their kicker. The guy we have now is ok, but he is no Butker. It is insane how he hit technically 3 58 yard field goals in one game, plus a 53 yard one that did not count because of a flag.

As a fan who watched Tyrod Taylor throw checkdowns, score minimal points, and let the defense win games, I 100% agree with starting Herbert. He was extremely confident and didn't look at all like a rookie. It's been a long time since any team have given the chiefs this much trouble

Refs gotta get some training on what a "helmet-to-helmet" rule is there for! This has happened twice to the Chiefs that I can remember recently....blatant h-2-h hit and no call. Other one I'm thinking of happened to Kelce in the playoff game in 18 or 17 against the Titans....both of them dropped to the ground right after the hit and there was no call....we need a special investigation into this.

They called a lot of holding on the Chiefs, and yet the Chargers held just as much and there were some very dangerous targetting calls missed. When the Chargers called the TO during Harrison's kick, the refs blew the play dead for the TO and then the ball was snapped and called false start on the Chiefs, and then gave the TO back to the Chargers so they could use it again.
Herbert looks really good here. Personally I thought he was gonna be a bust, but I’d love to see all 3 of the first QBs taken be huge talents in the NFL

That pick in the 3rd, up 8, was just awful. It let the Chiefs back in the game. Pat Mahomes has only lost 1 career NFL game to an opposing team scoring less than 24.

For all we know, Tyrod would have won that game. Gardner Minshew had a game like this against the Chiefs last year.
I'm still not convinced. Sure Herbert played the game plan prepared for him well but there were some really dumb mistakes based on lack of game awareness he committed. If the Chargers running game wasn't working and they wanted to win with Herbert's arm, defense better be licking their chops to get easy opportunities at a turnover.

We had a hell of a game against you guys an when it comes to playing you guys I’m always on the edge of my seat but this year was different when Herbert had to step in, I’ve never been this hyped after watching the game hats off to you guys!
It literally feels like the chiefs purposely do bad at first. So many dropped passes, bad throws, bad communication routes in the first half of their games
Our defense was really good the first 3 quarters. Almost every play mahomes was scrambling and our secondary was locking the receivers down he didn’t have anyone to throw to. But they got fatigued at the end
I don’t want to seem like a hater but I do feel as if a team had time to prep for him he’s quite easy to game plan against, he isn’t very good at making tight window throws and is very reliant on short passes but I could be wrong.
This game was like a Superbowl. Herbert vs Mahomes. The best kicker and Hill and guts and on and on. We know Andy Reids Chiefs are good but i may just get excited 2021 for a Chargers game. BUT DID I HEAR 58 YARD FIELD GOAL. DAMN
Teams are having to come up with different zone defense strategies to play against the Chiefs. Since both Kelce and Hill require 2-3 man coverage each, and the rest of Mahomes' weapons are basically open, the best shot you have is to blitz and either force him to throw early or go for the (extremely rare) sack and hope he doesn't get out of the pocket because he'll just run a first down himself. Pouring everything into getting to Mahomes before his receivers can get in position is really the only strategy anyone seems to have right now.

My wife is from KC and I like the Chiefs just fine. Justin Herbert is from the Ducks, and I love the Ducks. Great game overall and esp for Herbert. Note to NFL coaches: (Call this the Tom Brady rule) NEVER give the ball to Mahomes with the game on the line. Even if you pin KC back at the 2, you'll regret it.

Refs gotta get some training on what a "helmet-to-helmet" rule is there for! This has happened twice to the Chiefs that I can remember recently....blatant h-2-h hit and no call. Other one I'm thinking of happened to Kelce in the playoff game in 18 or 17 against the Titans....both of them dropped to the ground right after the hit and there was no call....we need a special investigation into this.

@@J_munoz Honestly not really. The refs missed a lot of calls on Bosa in particular, that man jumped offsides about every 4 plays. They called a lot of holding on the Chiefs, and yet the Chargers held just as much and there were some very dangerous targetting calls missed. When the Chargers called the TO during Harrison's kick, the refs blew the play dead for the TO and then the ball was snapped and called false start on the Chiefs, and then gave the TO back to the Chargers so they could use it again.
Herbert looks really good here. Personally I thought he was gonna be a bust, but I’d love to see all 3 of the first QBs taken be huge talents in the NFL

Tyrod should, they still lost the game. Herbert only scored 20 points and you don't beat the Chiefs if you score 30. He had a chance to win the game in OT and didn't. I'm still not convinced. Sure Herbert played the game plan prepared for him well but there were some really dumb mistakes based on lack of game awareness he committed. If the Chargers running game wasn't working and they wanted to win with Herbert's arm, defense better be licking their chops to get easy opportunities at a turnover.

Our defense was really good the first 3 quarters. Almost every play mahomes was scrambling and our secondary was locking the receivers down he didn’t have anyone to throw to. But they got fatigued at the end

What I'm wondering is how the hell Clayton even saw the game.
Teams are having to come up with different zone defense strategies to play against the Chiefs. Since both Kelce and Hill require 2-3 man coverage each, and the rest of Mahomes' weapons are basically open, the best shot you have is to blitz and either force him to throw early or go for the (extremely rare) sack and hope he doesn't get out of the pocket because he'll just run a first down himself. Pouring everything into getting to Mahomes before his receivers can get in position is really the only strategy anyone seems to have right now.
