I followed your guide and built mine, using the Snapmaker A350 to print the case (inc sides). It genuinely makes me smile when I turn it on. Top work.
That's great! Did you print the sides as well or carve them from acrylic?
This is a gorgeous case! The U-shaped USB cap and the extended acrylic as the legs are nice touches.
That has to be the nicest Raspberry Pi case I have ever seen, wonderful work! I only discovered your channel and website a few days ago, and I'm VERY impressed.
Thank you!
Yes, you only need a 3D printer and a laser cutter...
@@warlikka7571 To be fair I don't think most people have access to both of those things. I'm sure it makes building them easier but the design is so good either way, these cases he's made look SO much better and more aesthetic than the commercial cases I've seen.
@@warlikka7571 There's a ton of websites that you can pay to 3d print/laser cut any files you send them.
@DroneBot Workshop I bought Michael’s kit for the previous version without the SSD and it was perfect! The instructions for construction and setup were on great and my daughter loved the process getting it up and running. Plus, no need to buys part separately. Shipping was fast as well!
Good compact design... You could probably sell these pre-made Pi computers.

I just got mine in late last week and I highly recommend this case to everyone... I got it all setup last night and it's awesome! It wasn't hard to get the front display running or anything. Easy to follow instructions to get it all setup and running. Well built case and everything fits nicely together. Well done and I will be getting another.
That's great to hear, I'm glad you like it and it all went together smoothly!
@@MichaelKlements can you help me get mine...please? etsy not available anymore
Awesome! I was just about to build your first version, now I'll be building this one.
Just got my kit in today from you, it was so fun putting it together. Thank you for this video!
That's great Laotian, thanks for the support!
Simply incredible.
Very nice.
I bought the files for your previous version of this case and tried to figure out SSD options for it.
Should have waited for this one.

This is pretty cool! Thank you for this.
Very nice indeed. It looks like it was designed at the same time as the guts.
Very nice case and a cool project
looks very clean i like it.

awesome case. i have your first version. on the cpu cooler, i removed the aluminum bracket that holds the fan screws for a cleaner heat sink look lol
That's a neat idea, I might try doing that on mine as well.
very neat. if only I had a 3d printer
Amazing project. Congratulations, From Brazil.

I wish your Rpi case is available online.Very nice looking case.
They are linked in the video description
thats cute :) i whant to see a air flow case like that small and water cooled :). nice build cheers
That's a nice idea, I'll have a look at it.
@@MichaelKlements that woud be awsome :) gr8 chanel
Красота!
@1:23 What is the toolkit you used ?
Great video thanks for updating the case.
Great case. I even bought the case files for myself and paid for another set of files for my son.
The files were well done and you charged a reasonable rate for them so 8 felt you deserved payment for your work
I do wish there were acrylic laser cutting businesses that would do small requests. Do you sell just the laser cut acrylic?
That's great to hear, thank you.
I don't usually sell them separately as they're then quite expensive with shipping but two sets might be worth it for you. Just send me a message on Etsy and we can work something out.
Wish they did coloured boards and fans.
I love it. My only suggestion would be to angle it so the front could be seen slightly easier when sat at the desk. Perhaps :)
Yeah that would be pretty cool. I've made up a plywood case which had the Pi at 90 degrees so that it's all visible, it came out quite nicely.

squirrelly ❤
Do you have a video explaining the steps to design that case? You showed a bit with the measurements in this one. I am thinking about trying (next summer) to combine the UPS and this - that would require changing the case. It may be enough what you showed here, either way. These are great videos.
I don't, but I'll look at putting together a tutorial on using Tinkercad to design a Raspberry Pi case.
Michael, I really don't know why you don't have more followers, but I see your subscriber numbers are always increasing !! - Robert
Thanks Robert!
Any way you can add a power button? That's all that appears missing from this (and would finish it off, perfectly!)
Brilliant new build.
So next is this plus the UPS? ;)
Haha that’s a bit more complicated as the UPS has to go underneath the Pi to interface with the GPIO pins, so the SSD shield will then need an extended USB jumper and will further block the batteries.
@@MichaelKlements I thought so.
I wonder if there is a way of doing it where the UPS batteries face down and a hatch in the bottom would allow removal of them.
Probably not and would add yet another level of complexity.
I love your design though. Its so cool. Plan to buy the parts and build it once I have my laser all set up and zero'd in :) Case is printer ready already.

What do I think? Very impressive design and video production. Liked & Subscribed with a bell
Argh all I need now is to get into laser cutters. LOL I think it makes sense to just make solid side panels on the 3D printer. I am sure I can come up with some wild color scheme.
It looks pretty good with 3D printed side panels as well, you just can't get them to be clear. I've made up a couple with a semi-transparent green colour which looked good.
Really cool, would like to see a SSD/UPS/ combo Case for my Pi4. Do you plan to do this? Thanks!
I'll have to put some thought into the arrangement as the UPS has to go underneath the Pi first so that it can make contact with the GPIO pins, but then the SSD shield will need a much longer jumper and will block the removal of the batteries.
Sweet! But you should make a new one with at least one more SSD and the UPS.
Great job I bought the last one and was wondering if you could let me have the STL files as before as I am trying out a 3d printer and haveing great results with the first one
It's been my best print so far. As you'll discover, some designs print incredibly. I made my layer lines .2 and the print is smooth as butter. Looks manufactured. You'll learn many designs out there are awesome but some can be incredibly difficult to print well. How it's oriented on the build plate is amongst many of the details that can impact print quality. Good Luck!
@@TheJacklwilliams THANKS and yes I found the STL files
Would be interested in buying the case premade. I use a similar setup with a 2.5" SSD but would love to remake with the smaller SSD style.
I put these up at kits on my Etsy store, linked in the video description. It's a kit for the case, not completely pre-made as I don't think that'll survive shipping unfortunately.
@@MichaelKlements Thank you, when I looked earlier it said out of stock. I just placed an order for one.
I would like to have an equal but unfortunately in Venezuela it is expensive to have one but I would love to have one like the one you present in this video.
That looks awesome! Does Raspberry OS support Steam and its games?
Will the display work with running proxmox on pi along with nextcloud and pihole?
Do you have a video on how to use the Mini PC? 😁
With the shell you can paint it
Awesome! I love it!
Does the SSD mount support a full 2.5" drive?
Not in this design, a full 2.5" drive is quite a bit bigger (longer and wider) than this case allows for.
@@MichaelKlements Aww 😐 so a 3D print would have to be quite a bit wider? I'd use that space for extra fans lol

My fan has an extra blue cable which I think is for the Rgb but I don’t know where to plug it in
The blue wire is for PWM control of the fan. You can plug it into any PWM pin to set it up.
I want one :)
Just put mine together...easy. Have you thought about adding a slot to be able to change out the micro SD card?
When checking if the library’s are installed, python-smbus is not available, i2c-tools are installed but when I do the Adafruit one there is an error that says “command errored out with exit status 1” If anyone can help me please reply.
any suggestions or alternative options for the side panels if one doesn't have a laser cutter?
They would be relatively easy to cut by hand using a jigsaw or scrollsaw (without the hexagon pattern), else I also included a 3D printable version of the side panels in the download.
Oh I didn't know you included a printable version. Sweet that's all need. Thank you. I'll be purchasing the design soon
this is gorgeous. im thinking of ordering one of these from ebay, but i have a question i can;t find the answer to. do the fans take away from the available voltage from the pi? or does it pull the extra power from the power supply? without depriving the pi of any voltage/current
just thinking. if there is an adapter that lets you plug in the SSD shield directly into the microSD slot, it would safe you from the extra step of configure the Pi to boot over USB. in theory, it could work.
The interface on an SSD and a microSD card are quite different (not just physically), so I don't think this would be an option. You're better off just using a high quality / high endurance microSD card in that case.
HAHA!!! The one that I've been waiting for! Now I can move by bulky sandisk ssd 240GB inside the case! Hmmm, wonder if I take the plastic outter case apart if inside is the same board/pinout? I guess we'll see! Now, Michael, here's the challenge! Same case as this one, even taller with the ups/battery option in your last design! HAHA! That'll be a chonky lil dude for sure but, how cool would it be to have ssd, ice tower, and ups/battery all in one case. Oh and? with the OLED on the FRONT! That's my chosen option. Anyway, just musing, as usual, NICE MICHAEL! This is such a stylish design. I get compliments on it every time someone stops by and see's it sitting on my table. I'm like yeah, I made that and "Michael Klements" designed it! Oh, last one. I made one mod to my case that I really like it. I swapped the straight pins on my OLED for 45 degree. Which is cool because I cut my wires to follow the wall and down to the GPIO. So the 45 degree pins help keep everything tidy. THANKS AGAIN MR. Klements!
It seems like quite a few people are interested in a combined UPS and SSD Pi Case, I'll definitely have to have a look at it! Thanks so much for the positive feedback, I'm glad your Pi is a good talking point!
That's a nice idea for the display pins, I hadn't thought of using 45 or 90 degree pins.
@@MichaelKlements Your designs are incredible sir. The case is just an incredibly tasty piece of work. I’ll be building more that’s for certain! Re the pins, thanks, it worked out pretty cool. I’m looking forward to designing a thing or two myself. I need to get/build a good laser table like yours and I want to build a desktop cnc as well. In time. For now I’m still in “build” mode. Your welcome, thank you for sharing the great work!
Great video. I really like the tool set you showed at 1:22 can you share info on that thinking of buying one.
I've linked to a similar one in the video description. The one I bought was discontinued shortly after I bought it, I'm not sure why.

Could you build a Tezos node with this ssd mod and the backup power supply mod? That would mean a lot to the Tezos community. Your builds look great btw.
Being nosy David. What's a Tezos node? Thanks!
@@TheJacklwilliams oh awesome you replied! It's a crypto mining rig that is green. Being able to mine (called baking) on low power devices like the raspberry pi is a big deal for us. There are already easy tutorials on installing tezos on a pi. There is no really professional builds for the box though. I came across your videos. The UPS and the SSD is perfect.
If you did a video it would be front and center on our social media and news sites.
Hi m8, this is a real well done job... im considering to buy the kit from ETSY; just one thing i would like to know, i use my rpi ONLY for Home Assistant, with your kit i can use the HASS-OS? or i must use the Debian Supervised? im thinking about this due to the oled monitor and hardware. can you please clarify this for me? thank you
I haven't tried the OLED display script on other distributions, I have only used it on Rapsberry Pi OS.
@@MichaelKlements so it will work on debian as well i believe
