For those of you bedrock players wanting to color code your pieces, I came up with the (probably) best choices for a universally understandable color for each of the chess pieces, all with "black" and "white" variants. Pawns: Black, White King: Dark gray, Light gray Queen: Magenta, Pink Bishops: Orange, Yellow Knights: Green, Lime green Rooks: Blue, Light blue
I see chess pros are playing. Really nice opening with black starting the game and moving pawns everywhere but to the center lol. But seriously really funny video and the concept is so simple.
@@milandesrosiers3397 Make it based on what side the helmet is facing, like in shogi. I think the textures aren't perfectly symmetrical and have a pretty consistent gradient.
hey i thought of another way: if you are willing to put in the time and effort, you can use maps and draw out the pieces by placing blocks for the map. there are several image to map converters online
My friend and I made a chess board fully in-game by making banners that showed the piece patterns. Problem is, all the pieces were so tall and flat that it was hard to see
listen, all you had to do was use invisible item frames and a texture pack that changes some items into pieces then you win and it looks good in both VERSIONS

Like ten years ago I made a functional chess set on Minecraft Xbox 360 edition using colored wool for the pieces cuz armor stands didn't exist yet I also tried to make playable monopoly but it was hard to keep track of and I couldn't figure out how to do chance/community chest cards besides just using an actual monopoly set's cards
Not only are the kings and queens on the wrong squares, the king should always be on the e-file, and queen should always be on the d-file, but you placed all the pieces wrong lmao. The board should be rotated 90 degrees. The bottom left square should be black, not white.
ya, but how would u be able to choose what texture each helmet uses? (The different dye colors are not separate textures, the base texture is just recoloured by code)
@@hw2007 is there not a .json that defines that? or is it just built in, because the grass texture is changed by another image which can change the tint of the grass block

This is a great design. I play on bedrock so I'll use this to play checkers instead since you dont need different looking pieces.

Idea: use leather for pawns, chain mail for knights, iron for bishops, diamond for rooks, and netherite for queens. Kings are turtle shells
you can only dye leather armour so it won't work (you need to make black team/white team)
but what you could do is enchant for the black team leave it normal for white

Replace the armor stands with frames and replace item textures with chess pieces and then get a texture pack that makes armor stand invisible
