How To Wash & Wax Your Motorcycle! The PROPER Way!

  • A quick and easy guide on how to wash and wax your motorcycle the proper way! PLEASE NOTE, I did not use a clay bar here before waxing as I already clayed the paint 1 week ago. I suggest you clay bar your paint before the final waxing step to remove any embedded contaminants on the paint and for the wax to have maximum surface adhesion.

      +Canadian Rider if we wash our bike once in a week can we use a shampoo and wax everytime

    • @carswithsonduren
      @carswithsonduren  7 лет назад

      Yes you can wash your bike with a shampoo weekly if you like, but there would be no need to reapply the wax weekly. Depending on wax or sealant you use, you have 2-6 months of protection. Now if your washing your car every week, make sure to keep your chain lubed frequently.

      Thank you :) I am a part time professional detailer so I do know a thing or two about proper washing techniques, as much as motorcycles, detailing is another one of my hobbies :) I wish I could talk more about paint correction etc, and I may, but it would be out of the scope for this channel! * thinking about it, maybe I will make a video specifically for motorcycles :)

    • @ALLDAYANTHONY
      @ALLDAYANTHONY 8 лет назад

      Haha I think we would be friends then! I also detail on the side and use a PC 7424. I keep my evo flawless, but the speed triple is black and we all know how black is to maintain, plus I have no idea how much clear coat triumph used on that thing. So correcting on my bike isn't my top priority. I know what you mean though, most motorcyclist aren't as OCD about paint as long as the bike is running haha. Whereas for me, that shit haunts me in my dreams

      +mmdirtyworkz Yes you do if your at the point where you already need too. If you lubed it recently no need to do it again even after you washed your bike, because remember your avoiding your chain area from degreasers etc

    Hello there, great video and straight to the point! I got a question for you cause I recently got a Monster 1200s and it's my first bike with advance electronics and a chain drive.. Do you lubricate the chain everytime you wash the bike? And is there any areas to cover prevent water from damaging anything? Thanks

    • @carswithsonduren
      @carswithsonduren  8 лет назад

      So with the Monster 1200s, you will want to make sure you dint point the pressure washer tip close and directly to the electrical components. Water is fine as a slow soft stream on this components or a pressure wash from a distance. I personally DON'T lubricate after every wash, though some people do. If you are doing a deep clean wash then yes, afterwords go ahead. I tend to lubricate per factory recommendations. No areas need to be covered, these motorcycles were designed to be protected from the rain

    Great "how to" video!
    I ride year round and live in Ohio so I'm riding in rain, some snow and sometimes a mix of road salt and chemicals. I'm not interested in "best" appearance during the winter, but I am interested in knowing your thoughts about the best way to wash and prevent corrosion when the weather isn't great. I'm also wondering what you think the best way to remove light corrosion is? I have very small amounts of corrosion on the brake rotors, on the exhaust and the rear sprocket. Thanks for any ideas your have!

      @Wave1dave 2 года назад +3

      I know this is a very late reply, but I highly recommend ACF-50 or similar products to anyone who reads this and thinks about how to prevent corrosion. You can apply them in a mist (cover the brakes and wheels first!) and you will get excellent protection against salt and other corrosive agents. Some people don't even bother to wash the bike and just apply ACF-50 (or again some other product) and their bikes are rust-free...

    hello man i live in a very muddy area it oftens rain here my air intake gets caked up mud most of the time any suggestions should i pressure wash it or wash it manually with tooth brush ??

    • @carswithsonduren
      @carswithsonduren  3 года назад

      Hey welcome to the channel! I would actually highly suggest you always try to pressure wash as much of the dirt and grime off as possible before touching it with any brush or mitt. Though once you've done that yes a brush and a mitt is the next step just be cautious not to rub so much of that mud and dirt into the paint 👍

      it is good to at least scrub the side of the rubber where the chain is since chain lube and other things may have been sprayed there

    • @isaacmondragonortega4744
      @isaacmondragonortega4744 4 года назад

      It also helps to check for blemishes on the tyres,(nails,screws or anything that can puncture) and only takes a few more minutes.

    I haven't washed a bike with anything but a light spray cleaner (Meguire's EZ clean) and a microfiber cloth, or a plastic razor and a citrus cleaner for the really stuck on stuff. I haven't put water on a bike in over 10 years, and if I do end up in a rain situation, I take the wheels off and clean the hubs and use chain cleaner and apply fresh lube to both the axles and the chain/sprockets. But maybe I'm a bit too obsessive, idk.

    Very beautiful Ducati bro but i was wondering if you know of any high quality and motorbike friendly foam cannon solutions as i don't want to harm my bike or paint or the components it's a Yamaha MT-07/FZ-07 " naked bike "

    • @carswithsonduren

      Hey Brad thanks for the compliments! I would avoid use of a pressure washer and a PH balanced snow foam.

      Your very welcome and I know I'm not really meant to use powerful washers that's why I would of got a very low powered washer or even a hand pump washer to try and help me get off as much dust and muck off my paint before I rub agents it. Okay I'll make sure to take notes from your advice. Thank you very much Bro. Safe riding

    • @carswithsonduren
      @carswithsonduren  4 года назад +1

      Hey Nasir welcome to the channel man! I would recommend making sure if it's an older bike you be careful around the wiring or any exposed wiring and for any bike around the chain especially if it has just been lubed. most new modern bikes you don't need to worry about too much anything important will be covered and sealed from water. General rule don't point a pressure washer to close to anything
