    I prefer applying lemon grass tea infused cucumber slices to the face shield, almond and coconut paste to the shell and then do a nice Jamaican Blue coffee cleanse to the internal padding. That takes years off of your helmet and makes it feel like something newer and fresher is sitting on your face.

    Someone below said it best: "As experienced riders we often lose sight of sharing that experience with riders who are relatively new". Even though this is dead simple, we all have a first time and want to get it right. Your video(s) really help so pay no mind to the naysayers! A few times you mentioned changing the pin-lock. My helmet is only a year old (HJC IS Max 2) and there doesn't seem to be any reason to worry about the pin-lock yet. How can I tell if it needs to be replaced?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 лет назад +9

      Once the silicone seal around the Pinlock starts to degrade or the Pinlock insert has a harder time resisting fogging, then it's time to replace it. -DrewZilla

    Rule for microfiber towel?
    Always remove tag, it can scratch.

    Never let it touch the ground or pick up dust, can also scratch.

    I use a microfiber cloth and Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax. It works great for cleaning off the exterior of the helmet, while leaving a nice wax coating which will help the surface bead up water and keep the helmet easy to clean after use.

    Good info but a lot of work. I simply keep the outside clean weekly and every few months I polish it. As far as the visor, glasses cleaner works well (has not damaged it yet) or just soapy water with dish liquid. The interior padding, I just take it out and throw it in the washing machine along with my jacket and wash in cold water, delicate cycle then air dry. Both the jacket and helmet liner come out great every time. Right or wrong, its easy and quick.

      That's what I use, windex and a wash rag. Give it a good wipe down after a ride. Probably not the best long-term but if I had a $500 helmet I probably would be more careful with it. The ones I use are between $150 and $200.

    Ironic that this popped up in my email tonight. I commute in the PNW and between the rain and road-grease, my white helmet was more gray/black so I figured I’d wipe it down before I started my 35 mile ride home (before I saw this).
    I found out my shell was chipped and I had a crack I thought was just grime... it went for its last ride tonight. I already bought a new helmet (part of the reason Revzilla sent me the email), but I guess that was good timing (and a good reason to clean your lid more often than I have been).

    • @jimmorrison306
      @jimmorrison306 3 года назад

      No expert here, but if stored indoors in a dry environment it shouldn’t matter up or down. Leaving the liner wet to mold or subjecting the helmet to sunlight excessively would be hard on the materials. I like to set my helmet in front of a fan that’s blowing to help dry it on those sweaty days. I would never apply heat to it.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 года назад +1

      Yes, since most helmets have a clear coat overtop. Just make sure you are using the right type of post-cleaning material for the type of paint on your helmet. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our Gear Geeks at cs@revzilla.com or 877.792.9455. Ride safe, -Pat

    I got some motor oil on my helmet, and I might need something more aggressive than warm water to get it off. Suggestions? I was thinking a non-petroleum based soap like Dr. Bronner's

    I really really need your help RevZilla
    I own an AGV Corsa Mugello 2015. That helmet is silver metallic chrome colored. How should I maintain it overtime so the chrome color won't get cloudy or faint?
    I am thinking to polish and wax it overtime with some normal automotive polishing and waxing products. Is that a good idea? Should I buy a certain product?
    Please, need your help

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 лет назад +2

      I'd recommend a specific helmet cleaner like those from Motul or S100. Automotive polish or wax isn't necessarily rated for motorcycle helmets. -DrewZilla
